Book excerpt: Selected Constants: Oxidation-reduction Potentials of Inorganic Substances in Aqueous Solution presents tables that will aid chemists in finding the best or most probable value of the normal or formal oxidation-reduction potential of oxidation-reduction systems. The book first presents numerical calculations that show the degree of oxidation and real oxidation-reduction systems, including the value of the potential, temperature, nature and composition of the medium, and the method of determination used. The text then takes a look at the choice of data, as well as intensity/potential curves and potentiometric determinations. The table of oxidation-reduction potentials showing the redox system, medium, method, and references is presented. The literature references starting from 1900 until 1967 are also tabulated. The publication is a dependable reference for chemists and readers interested in the oxidation-reduction potentials of inorganic substances in aqueous solutions.

Book Selected Constants Relative to Semi Conductors

Download or read book Selected Constants Relative to Semi Conductors written by P Aigrain and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-02 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selected Constants Relative to Semi-Conductors presents the physical constants of semiconductors in Table form. The values of the electronic properties of semiconductors presented in the Table are parameters intended for use in theoretical and phenomenological equations relative to the band theory for these materials. In addition to data specific to band structure, the Table also includes mobilities of electrons and holes and their variation with temperature. Data of a general physical character are also presented, since the researcher very often finds use for values of this type. The following quantities are given when available: symmetry group and crystal parameters, refractive index, dielectric constant, effective ionic charge, work function, photoemission work function, piezoresistance coefficient, elastic coefficients, phonon temperature, Debye temperature, magnetic susceptibility, coefficient of linear expansion, fusion temperature, sublimation temperature, specific heat at constant pressure, latent heat of fusion, latent heat of sublimation, thermal conductivity, disorder factor, and density.

This book was released on 1969 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major reactions normally encountered in flow field-re-entry calculations for the oxygen nitrogen system are reviewed and a rate constant value for each reaction is recommended. Collisional ionization processes, charge exchange reactions and attachment-detachment reactions are included. In all, over twenty forward and reverse reactions are reviewed. Additionally, a large number of rate constant values for reactions which also effect flow field calculations are given.

Download or read book Constants in Context written by Stephen B. Bevans and published by Orbis Books. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Mission is handicapped without a sound biblical theology of mission and an understanding of the history of mission leading up to our current context. Constants in Context offers both of these elements. It is mission theology in historical perspective and/or a history of mission that is grounded theologically. The authors describe it as a systematic theology with mission at its core, and a church history shaped by the constant but always contextual Christian traditions. Furthermore it is a constructive contribution to how mission theology needs to be practical and lived out through today's church and in our world. Written collaboratively by Roman Catholic writers Stephen Bevans and Roger Schroeder, both Missionaries of the Divine Word (SVDs). It is a particularly insightful in regard to the history and the various streams of Catholic mission but it also addresses and learns from the other traditions of the church. In fact, one of the book's strengths is its attention to neglected aspects and hidden stories of church and mission history. As a result it is gratifying to be inspired by non-European mission, women in mission and various forgotten or often ignored branches of the church. The book is in three sections: first, there is a framework for cultural contexts and theological constants; second, an in-depth exploration of historical stages and different models for mission; and third, a presentation of theological frameworks for mission. The third section concludes with a case for 'mission as prophetic dialogue' being the most appropriate model for 21st century mission." -- Amazon.com.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time changes most things, and physical constants are seem ingly not immune from this contingency. The publishers' suggestion for a new edition has provided an opportunity for a thorough scrutiny of the contents of this book and for the adjustment to some fourteen years of changes since the last edition. At the same time the contents have been increased by the addition of one or two new tables, and current moves towards the adoption of an international system of units ex plain the appearance in the book, wherever it is practicable, of S. 1. units. However, the habits of a lifetime are not easily changed, and it is too much to expect that despite careful proofreading the change of units has been carried through without errors. I shall be grateful for intimation of such mis takes. I wish moreover to thank all those who in the past have taken the trouble to draw my attention to errors, or to superior determinations, or simply to offer advice or criticism. For those who do not find what they seek in this collection, more complete compilations of physical constants are to be found in: Tables of Physical and Chemical Constants, G. W. C. Kaye and T. H. Laby, 13th edition 1966, Longman. Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 52nd edition 1971, Chemical Rubber Company. International Critical Tables. National Research Council, McGraw-Hill. This book is helpful both to readers seeking information about a specific constant, and to readers who desire a panoramic view of all constants coming from a particular field, for example, combinatorial enumeration or geometric optimization. Unsolved problems appear virtually everywhere as well. This work represents an outstanding scholarly attempt to bring together all significant mathematical constants in one place.

Book The Mammoth Book of Time Travel SF

Download or read book The Mammoth Book of Time Travel SF written by Mike Ashley and published by Robinson. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thought-provoking collection not only takes us into the past and the future, but also explores what might happen if we attempt to manipulate time to our own advantage. These stories show what happen once you start to meddle with time and the paradoxes that might arise. It also raises questions about whether we understand time, and how we perceive it. Once we move outside the present day, can we ever return or do we move into an alternate world? What happens if our meddling with Nature leads to time flowing backwards, or slowing down or stopping all together? Or if we get trapped in a constant loop from which we can never escape. Is the past and future immutable or will we ever be able to escape the inevitable? These are just some of the questions that are raised in these challenging, exciting and sometimes amusing stories by Kage Baker, Simon Clark, Fritz Leiber, Christopher Priest, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Robert Silverberg, Michael Swanwick, John Varley and many others.
