The volume contains reprints of valuable material covering the history and present status of and the arguments for and against the recall, including the recall of judges and of judicial decisions. Briefs are given for the recall of judges and of decisions, but it has not been considered necessary to include one for the general recall as the brief for the recall of judges can be easily adapted for the purpose. The bulk of reprinted matter has been devoted to the judicial recall also, as this seems to be the most popular and important, and many of the arguments are the same as for the general recall. A map has also been included showing the progress already made by the state-wide recall in the United States, and the main features of the various state provisions can be compared by means of the accompanying tabulation. Since the first edition was published Kanas and Louisiana have been added to the list of states having the recall while proposed constitutional amendments providing for it were rejected in Minnesota, Texas and Wisconsin, This volume has been strengthened by the addition of new references to the bibliography and of reprints of important articles which have appeared since the first edition was issued.
