Book Seeking Peace Through Reconciliation Managing Anger and Resolving Conflicts a Group Study

Download or read book Seeking Peace Through Reconciliation Managing Anger and Resolving Conflicts a Group Study written by Donald Jones and published by . This book was released on 2016-12-10 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book in a series of two small books which grew out of the desire and need for the material in the book of the same name to be put into a shorter format for study in various groups. Our lives involve numerous relationships with parents, siblings, spouses, extended family, friends, students, neighbors, co-workers, children, colleagues, team members, fellow Christians, and even acquaintances. We may encounter people in stores, supermarkets, movie theaters, restaurants, banks, and even social media sites. With all these interactions to navigate it is inevitable that disputes will arise. Conflicts escalate rapidly, tempers flare, and then words and actions can spiral out of control. How can we prevent these conflicts from occurring? When they do, how do we resolve them? How can we handle the obstinate who refuse to reconcile with us? How do we deal with our anger which might come raging up from within us? These answers are found in God's blueprint from His Word. This critical book discusses how we seek and find peace through reconciliation no matter what the issues may be. Every chapter opens with a typical scenario in which the principle might be applied. Then, a scriptural principle and biblical explanation is provided to guide you. An ancient portrait is presented which demonstrates how Jesus, Peter, Paul, and others lived out these powerful truths. A modern portrait of a counseling session follows which details how the author applied these critical principles in different circumstances. Each chapter concludes with a prayer to the Lord you may use. A workbook companion can also be purchased to aid in your study. For a quick read there is an abridged edition (A Book Short) which can also be purchased.

This book was released on 2016-12-10 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This workbook of the same name is designed to aid in your comprehension and application of the truths from the Scriptures which are explained in the book. It has a question and answer format because asking questions was a powerful teaching method that Jesus used to reveal God's divine truth. In His instruction to the people of God and others, the Lord asked over one hundred and thirty questions. Those mentioned in the gospels were only the recorded ones. We can only speculate as to how many questions He might have actually asked. The Lord Jesus Christ used His questioning techniques for the purpose of prompting His listeners to focus, understand, analyze, evaluate, and apply the divine principles He was proclaiming to them. The author has attempted to do the same in this workbook. May you find God's great wisdom as you ponder the answers to these questions. This is the workbook which supports the first book in a series of two smaller books for group study based on a larger comprehensive version. This unabridged edition with a workbook or an abridged edition for a quick read (A Book Short) can also be purchased.

Book International Conflict Resolution After the Cold War

Download or read book International Conflict Resolution After the Cold War written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2000-11-07 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end of the Cold War has changed the shape of organized violence in the world and the ways in which governments and others try to set its limits. Even the concept of international conflict is broadening to include ethnic conflicts and other kinds of violence within national borders that may affect international peace and security. What is not yet clear is whether or how these changes alter the way actors on the world scene should deal with conflict: Do the old methods still work? Are there new tools that could work better? How do old and new methods relate to each other? International Conflict Resolution After the Cold War critically examines evidence on the effectiveness of a dozen approaches to managing or resolving conflict in the world to develop insights for conflict resolution practitioners. It considers recent applications of familiar conflict management strategies, such as the use of threats of force, economic sanctions, and negotiation. It presents the first systematic assessments of the usefulness of some less familiar approaches to conflict resolution, including truth commissions, "engineered" electoral systems, autonomy arrangements, and regional organizations. It also opens up analysis of emerging issues, such as the dilemmas facing humanitarian organizations in complex emergencies. This book offers numerous practical insights and raises key questions for research on conflict resolution in a transforming world system.

Book Forgiveness and Reconciliation

Download or read book Forgiveness and Reconciliation written by Ani Kalayjian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-21 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all long for peace within ourselves, families, communities, countries, and throughout the world. We wonder what we can do about the multitude of con?icts currently wreaking havoc across the globe and the continuous reports of violence in communities as well as within families. Most of the time, we contemplate solutions beyond our reach, and overlook a powerful tool that is at our disposal: forgiveness. As a genocide survivor, I know something about it. As the genocide unfolded in Rwanda in 1994, I was devastated by what I believed to be the inevitable deaths of my loved ones. The news that my parents and my seven siblings had indeed been killed was simply unbearable. Anger and bitterness became my daily companions. Likewise, I continued to wonder how the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda could possibly reconcile after one of the most horrendous genocides of the 20th century. It was not until I came to understand the notion of forgiveness that I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Common wisdom suggests that forgiveness comes after a perpetrator makes a genuine apology. This wisdom informs us that in the aftermath of a wrongdoing, the offender must acknowledge the wrong he or she has done, express remorse, express an apology, commit to never repeating said harm, and make reparations to theextentpossible.Onlythencanthevictimforgiveandagreetoneverseekrevenge.
