Download or read book Storm Water Management for Construction Activities written by US EPA and published by CRC-Press. This book was released on 1993-06-28 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide shows you how to develop and implement a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan specifically designed for your construction site. It should answer any questions you have regarding the NPDES General Permit for Storm Water Discharges from Construction Activities that are classified as "Associated with Industrial Activity" (referred to as EPA's Baseline Construction General Permit). Step-by-step guidelines and checklists walk you through the process of setting up your plan, which makes the book invaluable for consultants, regulators, and construction managers and engineers.
Download or read book Streams and Ground Waters written by Jeremy B. Jones and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-12-06 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Streams around the world flow toward the sea in floodplains. All along this transit, there is exchange of water between the stream itself and the surrounding sediments which form the floodplain. Many chemical, biological, and geological processes occur when water moves back and forth between streams and these flood plain sediments. Streams and Groundwaters focuses on the consequences of water flow between streams, their underlying sediments, and surrounding landscapes. Certain to appeal to anyone interested in stream ecology, the management of stream ecosystems, or landscape ecology, this volume should become a oft-opened reference.

Download or read book Gravel Roads written by Ken Skorseth and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.
Download or read book Environmental Impact Statement for Construction Permit for the Northwest Medical Isotopes Radioisotope Production Facility Final Report written by Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U S ) and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on 2017-05-16 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has prepared this environmental impact statement (EIS) in response to an application submitted by Northwest Medical Isotopes, LLC (NWMI) for a construction permit for the NWMI medical radioisotope production facility. The EIS includes the analysis that evaluates the environmental impacts of the proposed action and considers the following alternatives to the proposed action: (1) the no-action alternative (i.e., the construction permit is denied), (2) one alternative site, and (3) two alternative technologies. After weighing the environmental, economic, technical, and other benefits against environmental and other costs, and considering reasonable alternatives, the NRC staff's recommendation, unless safety issues mandate otherwise, is to issue a construction permit to NWMI. The NRC staff based its recommendation on the following factors: the NRC staff's review of the NWMI Environmental Report and responses to requests for additional information; the NRC staff's consultation with Federal, State, and local agencies and Tribal officials; the NRC staff's independent environmental review; and the NRC staff's consideration of public comments Related products: Other products published by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission can be found here: https://bookstore.gpo.gov/agency/nuclear-regulatory-commission-nrc Environment & Nature resources collection can be found here: https://bookstore.gpo.gov/catalog/environment-nature
Download or read book Urban Stormwater Management in the United States written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2009-03-17 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapid conversion of land to urban and suburban areas has profoundly altered how water flows during and following storm events, putting higher volumes of water and more pollutants into the nation's rivers, lakes, and estuaries. These changes have degraded water quality and habitat in virtually every urban stream system. The Clean Water Act regulatory framework for addressing sewage and industrial wastes is not well suited to the more difficult problem of stormwater discharges. This book calls for an entirely new permitting structure that would put authority and accountability for stormwater discharges at the municipal level. A number of additional actions, such as conserving natural areas, reducing hard surface cover (e.g., roads and parking lots), and retrofitting urban areas with features that hold and treat stormwater, are recommended.

Download or read book Urban Runoff Quality Management written by Water Environment Federation and published by ASCE Publications. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual comprises a holistic view of urban runoff quality management. For the beginner, who has little previous exposure to urban runoff quality management, the manual covers the entire subject area from sources and effects of pollutants in urban runoff through the development of management plans and the design of controls. For the municipal stormwater management agency, guidance is given for developing a water quality management plan that takes into account receiving water use objectives, local climatology, regulation, financing and cost, and procedures for comparing various types of controls for suitability and cost effectiveness in a particular area. This guidance will also assist owners of large-scale urban development projects in cost-effectively and aesthetically integrating water quality control to the drainage plan. The manual is also directed to designers who desire a self-contained unit that discusses the design of specific quality controls for urban runoff.
Download or read book Design and Construction of Urban Stormwater Management Systems written by American Society of Civil Engineers and published by ASCE Publications. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prepared byØtheØTask Committee of the Urban Water Resources Research Council of ASCE. Copublished by ASCE and the Water Environment Federation. Design and Construction of Urban Stormwater Management Systems presents a comprehensive examination of the issues involved in engineering urban stormwater systems. This Manual?which updates relevant portions of Design and Construction of Sanitary and Storm Sewers, MOP 37?reflects the many changes taking place in the field, such as the use of microcomputers and the need to control the quality of runoff as well as the quantity. Chapters are prepared by authors with experience and expertise in the particular subject area. The Manual aids the practicing engineer by presenting a brief summary of currently accepted procedures relating to the following areas: financial services; regulations;Ø surveys and investigations;Ø design concepts and master planning;Ø hydrology and water quality;Ø storm drainage hydraulics; andØ computer modeling.
