Book Regulated Open Multi Agent Systems ROMAS

Download or read book Regulated Open Multi Agent Systems ROMAS written by Emilia Garcia and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-09-24 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addressing the open problem of engineering normative open systems using the multi-agent paradigm, normative open systems are explained as systems in which heterogeneous and autonomous entities and institutions coexist in a complex social and legal framework that can evolve to address the different and often conflicting objectives of the many stakeholders involved. Presenting a software engineering approach which covers both the analysis and design of these kinds of systems, and which deals with the open issues in the area, ROMAS (Regulated Open Multi-Agent Systems) defines a specific multi-agent architecture, meta-model, methodology and CASE tool. This CASE tool is based on Model-Driven technology and integrates the graphical design with the formal verification of some properties of these systems by means of model checking techniques. Utilizing tables to enhance reader insights into the most important requirements for designing normative open multi-agent systems, the book also provides a detailed and easy to understand description of the ROMAS approach and the advantages of using ROMAS. This method is illustrated with case studies, in which the reader may develop a comprehensive understanding of applying ROMAS to a given problem. The case studies are presented with illustrations of the developments. Reading this book will help readers to understand the increasing demand for normative open systems and their development requirements; understand how multi-agent systems approaches can be used to deal with the development of systems of this kind; to learn an easy to use and complete engineering method for large-scale and complex normative systems and to recognize how Model-Driven technology can be used to integrate the analysis, design, verification and implementation of multi-agent systems.

Book Safety and Security in Multiagent Systems

Download or read book Safety and Security in Multiagent Systems written by Mike Barley and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-10-15 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As intelligent autonomous agents and multiagent system applications become more pervasive, it becomes increasingly important to understand the risks associated with using these systems. Incorrect or inappropriate agent behavior can have harmful - fects, including financial cost, loss of data, and injury to humans or systems. For - ample, NASA has proposed missions where multiagent systems, working in space or on other planets, will need to do their own reasoning about safety issues that concern not only themselves but also that of their mission. Likewise, industry is interested in agent systems that can search for new supply opportunities and engage in (semi-) automated negotiations over new supply contracts. These systems should be able to securely negotiate such arrangements and decide which credentials can be requested and which credentials may be disclosed. Such systems may encounter environments that are only partially understood and where they must learn for themselves which aspects of their environment are safe and which are dangerous. Thus, security and safety are two central issues when developing and deploying such systems. We refer to a multiagent system’s security as the ability of the system to deal with threats that are intentionally caused by other intelligent agents and/or s- tems, and the system’s safety as its ability to deal with any other threats to its goals.

Book Security Modeling And Analysis Of Mobile Agent Systems

Download or read book Security Modeling And Analysis Of Mobile Agent Systems written by Jeffrey J P Tsai and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006-04-25 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A mobile agent system could be attacked by malicious agents, platforms and third parties. Mobile agents simply offer greater opportunities for abuse and misuse, which broadens the scale of threats significantly. In addition, since mobile agents have some unique characteristics such as their mobility, security problems have become more complicated in these systems. These security problems have become a bottleneck in the development and maintenance of mobile agent systems, especially in security sensitive applications such as electronic commerce. This book introduces the concept and structure of mobile agent systems and discusses various attacks and countermeasures. The emphasis is on the formal modeling and analysis of secure mobile agent systems and their applications./a

Book A SPKI SDSI based Security Framework for Multi agent Systems

Download or read book A SPKI SDSI based Security Framework for Multi agent Systems written by Feng-Shuo Chang and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: "Multi-agent systems (MASs) are societies whose individuals are agents acting on behalf of their owners or delegators (people or organizations). MASs have human-like social characteristics such as incomplete problem solving capabilities of each agent, lack of global control, decentralized data, and asynchronous computation, which imply that intensive interaction among agents is expected. However, when interactions involve confidential information in open networks such as in case of e-commerce transactions, context-aware services, and military planning, inevitable security concerns will arise. In this thesis, we first evaluate state-of-the-art public key infrastructures by differentiating their fundamental credential proving methodologies. Through careful review, we consider SPKI/SDSI, a security infrastructure based on public keys, which provides fine-grained access control using a local name space hierarchy and a simple, flexible, trust policy model; these features meet the MASs security requirement more effectively than traditional PKI and PGP. In addition, we extend the original design to better support MASs with two new schemes: mutual authentication proof and platform security auditing enforcement. We have implemented the SPKI/SDSI security protocol on a simulated MASs message transport service using a JSDSI library to demonstrate the prototype."

Book Securing Multi Agent Societies

Download or read book Securing Multi Agent Societies written by Rahul Singh and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: "When large Multi Agent Systems operate over open platforms such as the Internet, there is the possibility that some agents will endeavor to disrupt the MAS with the aim of achieving their own agendas at the cost of the others. For the protection of the agents in it's [sic] domain, each society of agents should make available certain services that allow agents to detect and avoid such attempts by malicious third parties. One of these is a rigorous method of identifying agents, so that each agent's actions can be referred to, recorded and evaluated. A robust identification mechanism can allow the construction of higher level-functions such as authentication, non-repudiation and secure communication. Agents can then use these basic functions provided by the MAS infrastructure along with their beliefs, current state of the MAS and the current goals to make decisions about trust. In this paper we present one architecture that allows agents to be named robustly, even in open environments, and build upon this scheme to provide MAS services that can allow agents to authenticate each other, digitally sign communication tokens and encrypt messages and data that is exchanged. We explore possible scenarios of the agent life in an open agent society and give an implementation independent architecture to secure agents and their environment."

Book Developing Secure Agent Systems Using Delegation Based Trust Management

Download or read book Developing Secure Agent Systems Using Delegation Based Trust Management written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present an approach to some security problems in multi-agent systems based on distributed trust and the delegation of permissions, and credibility. We assume an open environment in which agents must interact with other agents with which they are not familiar. In particular, an agent will receive requests and assertions from other agents and must decide how to act on the requests and assess the credibility of the assertions. In a closed environment, agents have well known and familiar transaction partners whose rights and credibility are known. The problem thus reduces to authentication the reliable identification of agents' true identity. In an open environment, however, agents must transact business even when knowing the true identities is un-informative. Decisions about who to believe and who to serve must be based on an agent's properties. These properties are established by proving them from an agent's credentials, delegation assertions, and the appropriate security policy. We begin by describing our approach and the concepts on which it is built. Then we present a design that provides security functions (authorization and credibility assessment) in a typical agent framework (FIPA) and describe initial work in its realization using the semantic web language DAML+OIL.
