Book Danny Elfman Piano Quartet

Download or read book Danny Elfman Piano Quartet written by Danny Elfman and published by Faber & Faber. This book was released on 2022-03-04 with total page 999 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Danny Elfman's Piano Quartet comprises thematic variations for piano and string trio cast in five movements: Ein Ding", "Kinderspott", "Duett für Vier", "Ruhig" and "Die Wolfsjungen". The idea behind the work stems from a familiar children's playground taunt which can be heard in the second movement. The work playfully cycles through a variety of moods and textures, from the agitated intensity of the first movement so reminiscent of the composer's iconic film music, through to the delicate adagio, all culminating in Elfman's energetic and impassioned finale."

Book Rhapsody in Blue

    Book Details:
  • Author : George Gershwin
  • Publisher : Alfred Music
  • Release : 1994-11-02
  • ISBN : 1457493438
  • Pages : 42 pages

Download or read book Rhapsody in Blue written by George Gershwin and published by Alfred Music. This book was released on 1994-11-02 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To provide greater availability for a work of such importance, the original publishers secured from Gershwin a solo piano version wherein the orchestral parts are fused together with the solo piano part (PS0047). Due to concerns that the composer's arrangement presented too many technical demands to pianists not possessing the requisite technique, a modified arrangement was delicately solicited from pianists of the time. (Gershwin's untimely death precluded any modification from the composer himself.) Many attempts at technical modifications were rejected on ethical grounds until Herman Wasserman--who taught Gershwin to play the piano--submitted a manuscript which became this edition. Several prominent pianists who reviewed the score all attested to the amazing reduction in technical demands while retaining the clarity, sonority, and brilliance of the original. This edition is designed for Early Advanced pianists, although some sections, including the well-known Moderato middle section, are accessible to those performing at less-advanced levels.

Book Mozart Quartet No 2 in E Flat KV 493 for Piano Violin Viola and Cello

Download or read book Mozart Quartet No 2 in E Flat KV 493 for Piano Violin Viola and Cello written by and published by Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation. This book was released on 2006-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Music Minus One). When the influential publisher Hoffmeister canceled Mozart's series of piano quartets, the composer had luckily completed the second quartet, and it was published by another firm in 1786. Lucky for us, this classic of the chamber genre is one of the great Mozart compositions. The purity of structure, enchanting melody and beautiful interplay between instruments makes it a must-have for all pianists. The first-movement Allegro begins intensely but integrates gracious themes throughout. The Larghetto presents a richly conceived slow movement that features much back-and-forth between piano and strings, and a delicately beautiful ending. The third-movement Rondo (Allegretto) is full of fire and energy with much for the pianist to enjoy. In short, it is an essential and rewarding addition to any pianist's library. And this Music Minus One edition brings it to you in a beautiful digital stereo recording with a beautifully engraved new score. The package contains a newly engraved, complete music score, printed on high-quality ivory paper; and a digital stereo compact disc containing a complete reference recording of the quartet with Mr. Hormuth at the piano, then a recording of the accompaniments minus the soloist. Performed by Dominik Hormuth, piano Accompaniment: Gerald Tarack, violin; Emanuel Vardi, viola; Alan Shulman, violoncello

Book Brahms and the Scherzo

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ryan McClelland
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2016-04-15
  • ISBN : 1317172841
  • Pages : 337 pages

Download or read book Brahms and the Scherzo written by Ryan McClelland and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-15 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the incredible diversity in Brahms's scherzo-type movements, there has been no comprehensive consideration of this aspect of his oeuvre. Professor Ryan McClelland provides an in-depth study of these movements that also contributes significantly to an understanding of Brahms's compositional language and his creative dialogue with musical traditions. McClelland especially highlights the role of rhythmic-metric design in Brahms's music and its relationship to expressive meaning. In Brahms's scherzo-type movements, McClelland traces transformations of primary thematic material, demonstrating how the relationship of the initial music to its subsequent versions creates a musical narrative that provides structural coherence and generates expressive meaning. McClelland's interpretations of the expressive implications of Brahms's fascinatingly intricate musical structures frequently engage issues directly relevant to performance. This illuminating book will appeal to music theorists, musicologists working on nineteenth-century instrumental music and performers.
