Download or read book International Workshop on Discrete Time Domain Modelling of Electromagnetic Fields and Networks 2nd Held in Berlin Germany on October 28 29 1993 written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to advances in different areas of microwave- and millimeter-wave techniques, demand for efficient CAD tools has grown. This statement is today as true as it was at our last workshop held two years ago in Munich on this topic. The numerical analysis in time domain is attractive since it describes the evolution of physical quantities in a natural way. The two basic concepts, the modelling of fields and networks, are more closely related than it seems at first glance. In the TLM method, for example, the network model is the basis for modelling electromagnetic fields. Another example is the application of generalized S-matrix methods and diacoptics in field theory. The purpose of this conference is to stimulate synoptic considerations of field theory and to promote a lively exchange between researchers engaged in these fields.

This book was released on 1991 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modelling of fields in the time domain describes the evolution of physical quantities in a natural way. Transient phenomena, nonlinear and dispersive behaviour, the characteristics of systems with moving boundaries or with time dependent properties are best described in the time domain. For electromagnetic field modelling numerous techniques have been developed. The modelling of fields and networks in the time domain is highly attractive since it describes the evolution of physical quantities in a natural way. Time domain modeling is especially advantageous in the case of transient electromagnetic fields, fields in nonlinear, dispersive or time-depended media or in regions with moving boundaries. One of the main advantages of time-domain modelling of electromagnetic fields is the local dependence of the field variables on space as well as on time. Within discretized space and time the state of the field in a given point and at a given time depends only on the field states of the neighbouring points at previous times. This allows a highly parallel computation of the time evolution of the discretized field.

Book Ultra Wideband Short Pulse Electromagnetics 2

Download or read book Ultra Wideband Short Pulse Electromagnetics 2 written by L. Carin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 591 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers published in this volume were presented at the Second International Conference on Ultra-WidebandiShort-Pulse (UWB/SP) Electromagnetics, ApriIS-7, 1994. To place this second international conference in proper perspective with respect to the first conference held during October 8-10, 1992, at Polytechnic University, some background information is necessary. As we had hoped, the first conference struck a responsive cord, both in timeliness and relevance, among the electromagnetic community 1. Participants at the first conference already inquired whether and when a follow-up meeting was under consideration. The first concrete proposal in this direction was made a few months after the first conference by Prof. A. Terzuoli of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Dayton, Ohio, who has been a strong advocate of time-domain methods and technologies. He initially proposed a follow-up time-domain workshop under AFIT auspices. Realizing that interest in this subject is lodged also at other Air Force installations, we suggested to enlarge the scope, and received in this endeavor the support of Dr. A. Nachman of AFOSR (Air Force Office of Scientific Research), Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

Book Transmission Line Matrix TLM Techniques for Diffusion Applications

Download or read book Transmission Line Matrix TLM Techniques for Diffusion Applications written by Donard deCogan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-12 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transmission Line Matrix (TLM) is a numerical technique which is based upon establishing an analogue between a space and time dependent physical problem and an electrical network which includes transmission lines. By their very nature these enforce time discretization on the network which can then be solved explicitly in the time-domain. Although it is best known in electromagnetic applications, TLM can also be used to model diffusion phenomena, and this book outlines the state of the art in this area. The first part of the book deals with theory and techniques. The second part is devoted to the development of algorithms for specific applications. This is arranged as a historical sequence starting with heat-flow and matter diffusion. The remainder of the book outlines many of the ingenious exploitations of the unique properties of TLM, including topics such as the solution of convection, Poisson, Laplace, and time-dependent Schrodinger equations. Applications in the firing of ceramics, chromatography, image processing, and the solution of inverse thermal problems are also covered.

Book Fields Networks Computational Methods and Systems in Modern Electrodynamics

Download or read book Fields Networks Computational Methods and Systems in Modern Electrodynamics written by Peter Russer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On June 1St 2004 the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Technische Universitat Miinchen bestowed the degree of the doctor honoris causa to Leopold B. Felsen, for extraordinary achievements in the theory of electromag netic fields. On this occasion on June 1St and 2nd 2004 at the Technische Universitat Miinchen a symposium on "Fields, Networks, Computational Methods, and Systems: A Modern View of Engineering Electrodynamics" in honor of Leopold B. Felsen was organized. The symposium topic focused on an important area of Leopold Felsen research interests and, as the title emphasizes, on a modern view of applied Electro dynamics. While the fundamental physical laws of electrodynamics are well known, research in this field is experiencing a steady continuous growth. The problem -solving approaches of, say, twenty years ago may seem now fairly obsolete since considerable progress has been made in the meantime. In this monograph we collect samples of present day state of the art in dealing with electromagnetic fields, their network theory representation, their computation and, finally, on system applications. The network formulation of field problems can improve the problem formulation and also contribute to the solution methodology. Network theory systematic approaches for circuit analysis are based on the separation of the circuit into the connection circuit and the circuit elements. Many applications in science and technology rely on computations of the electromagnetic field in either man-made or natural complex structures.
