It will be seen by the report of the Superintendent, which is herewith forwarded, that the number of persons admitted to the institution during the year, was 380. The number at its commencement was 469, and there are now remaining 485. The death-rate has been unusually great, seventy-five patients having deceased within the same period. Many of these were of advanced age, long afflicted With disease; some were feeble and in a low condition at the date of admission to the hospital, of whom twenty-three died within a period of twenty days subsequent to the date of their admission.
