The General Plan has the following purposes: identify the community;s land use, circulation, environmental, economic and social goals and policies as they related to land use, conservation and development; enable the City Council, the Planning Commission and the Design Review Board to establish long-range conservation and development policies; provide a basis for judging whether specific private development proposals and public projects are in harmony with these policies; inform citizens, developers, decision makers and other jurisdictions of the ground rules that will guide development and conservation within the Sebastopol Planning Area. The General Plan is a statement of the community's vision of the future.
