Book Seasonality in Regression

Download or read book Seasonality in Regression written by Svend Hylleberg and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seasonality in Regression presents the problems of seasonality in economic regression models. This book discusses the procedures that may have application in practical econometric work. Organized into eight chapters, this book begins with an overview of the tremendous increase in the computational capabilities made by the development of the electronic computer that has profound implications for the way seasonality is handled by economists. This text then examines some seasonal models and their characteristics. Other chapters consider the most frequently applied evaluation criteria and appraise the values in the applications. This book discusses as well the frequency domain estimators and provides insight into problems of estimating the disturbanceā€“covariance matrix through the use of the disturbance spectrum. The final chapter deals with the main objective of the treatment of personality to formulate and estimate econometric models. This book is a valuable resource for economists and econometricians who have knowledge of econometrics at an advanced undergraduate or graduate level.

Book Income and Employment in the Southeast

Download or read book Income and Employment in the Southeast written by L. Randolph McGee and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2021-05-11 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although there has been a growing interest in regional economic development, the important aspect of regional business fluctuations has not received corresponding attention. This study focuses upon the relative cyclical behavior of income and employment in the Southeastern United States following the Second World War and seeks to determine in particular what effect the industrial composition of the region has had upon income and employment. Using the procedures of the National Bureau of Economic Research, Mr. McGee identifies four complete cycles of general business activity during the postwar period. Within this frame of reference he analyzes the fluctuations of nineteen selected income and employment series, comparing these with respect to their turning points, durations, and amplitudes. Where possible aggregate series were broken down and analyzed further to isolate characteristics of the behavior of income and employment in the Southeast. Though the limitations of available data prevent definitive conclusions, business cycles apparently affect the Southeast more strongly than they do the nation as a whole. In the area of non-agricultural employment, however, differentials though slight are sufficient to render questionable the description of the region as one of slow economic growth. Moreover, Mr. McGee finds, the industrial mix of the Southeast is more favorable than that of the United States as a whole.
