Book Search for Supersymmetry in the Dilepton Final State with Taus at CDF Run II

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry in the Dilepton Final State with Taus at CDF Run II written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis presents the results a search for chargino and neutralino supersymmetric particles yielding same signed dilepton final states including one hadronically decaying tau lepton using 6.0 fb-1 of data collected by the the CDF II detector. This signature is important in SUSY models where, at high tan ?, the branching ratio of charginos and neutralinos to tau leptons becomes dominant. We study event acceptance, lepton identification cuts, and efficiencies. We set limits on the production cross section as a function of SUSY particle mass for certain generic models.

Book Searches in Dilepton Final States at CDF

Download or read book Searches in Dilepton Final States at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Event signatures with two oppositely or same-sign charged leptons are predicted in many new physics scenarios. Such events could arise from chargino-neutralino production, in decays of pair produced supersymmetric top quarks, additional massive vector bosons or exotic heavy quarks. We present the most recent results from the CDF experiment on searches for physics beyond the Standard Model in events with two leptons in the final state produced in p{bar p} collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV at Fermilab Tevatron.

Book The CDF II Tau Physics Program Triggers Tau ID and Preliminary Results

Download or read book The CDF II Tau Physics Program Triggers Tau ID and Preliminary Results written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of processes containing [tau] leptons in the final state will play an important role at Tevatron Run II. Such final states will be relevant both for electroweak studies and measurements as well as in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. The present paper discusses the physics opportunities and challenges related to the implementation of new set of triggers able to select events containing tau candidates in the final state. They illustrate, in particular, the physics capabilities for a variety of new physics scenarios such as supersymmetry (SUSY), SUSY with Rp-parity violation, with Bilinear parity violation or models with the violation of lepton flavor. Finally, they present the first Run II results obtained using some of the described tau triggers.

Book Searches for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron

Download or read book Searches for Supersymmetry at the Tevatron written by Arnd Meyer and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both Tevatron experiments, D0 and CDF, have searched for signs of Supersymmetry in the present Run II data sample, using integrated luminosities of up to 260 pb{sup -1} collected in p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. In these proceedings, new results are presented in the search for squarks and gluinos in the jets and missing transverse energy final state, associated production of charginos and neutralinos with multilepton final states, search for the rare decay B{sub s} {yields} {mu}{mu}, searches allowing R-parity violation (muons+jets, multileptons), and searches in the gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking framework with the final state of two photons and missing transverse energy. In the absence of any significant deviation from Standard Model expectations, limits on the presence of new physics are set, which in many cases are the most stringent to date.

Book Search for Supersymmetry Using Rare B 0 atop s d u2192 Decays at CDF Run II

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry Using Rare B 0 atop s d u2192 Decays at CDF Run II written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for rare B$0top{s}$ → ?+?- and B$0top{d}$ → ?+?- decays has been performed in pp collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV using 364 pb-1 of data collected by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The rate of each decay is sensitive to contributions from physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). No events pass the optimized selection requirements, consistent with the SM expectation. The resulting upper limits on the branching ratios are B(B$0top{s}$ → ?+?-) 1.5 × 10sup-7/sup and B(B$0top{d}$ → ?sup+/sup?sup-/sup) 3.8 × 10

Book Search for Supersymmetry at CDF

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry at CDF written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We summarize results of a search for supersymmetry (SUSY) using a data sample of dileptons in p{anti p} collisions at (square root)s=1.8 TeV. The data represent an integrated luminosity of 107 pb−1 collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) during the 1992-93 and 1994-95 runs. We also briefly provide a prospect of the SUSY search at CDF in the next run of the Tevatron.

Book Search for Supersymmetry in the Jets Met TAUS Final State Using the CMS Detector at the LHC

Download or read book Search for Supersymmetry in the Jets Met TAUS Final State Using the CMS Detector at the LHC written by Roy Joaquin Montalvo and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this dissertation results are presented from a search for the pair production of heavy colored particles (gluinos, squarks) in R-parity conserving supersymmetric models, in which the lightest supersymmetric particle is a stable and neutral object. The search was performed for events with at least two tau leptons, two highly energetic jets and large missing transverse momentum in the final state on a data sample of proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. The data sample was collected by the Compact Muon Solenoid detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2011, and it corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5fb -1. The tau isolation variable was optimized for this search. The number of events corresponding to standard model processes in the final selection was estimated to be 7.49 plus - minus 0.74 using background estimation techniques based on data. Nine observed events are found to be in agreement with the standard model prediction, and exclusion limits on gluino mass are obtained in the context of supersymmetric models at the 95% confidence level.
