Book Search for Higgs Boson Pair Production in the Gamma Gamma B b over bar Final State Using Pp Collision Data at Root S

Download or read book Search for Higgs Boson Pair Production in the Gamma Gamma B b over bar Final State Using Pp Collision Data at Root S written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for Higgs boson pair production \(pp \rightarrow hh\) is performed with 19.5 fb\(^{-1}\) of proton-proton collision data at \(\sqrt{s}=8\) TeV, which were recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2012. The decay products of each Higgs boson are reconstructed as a high-momentum \(b\bar{b}\) system with either a pair of small-radius jets or a single large-radius jet, the latter exploiting jet substructure techniques and associated b-tagged track-jets. No evidence for resonant or non-resonant Higgs boson pair production is observed. The data are interpreted in the context of the Randall-Sundrum model with a warped extra dimension as well as the two-Higgs-doublet model. An upper limit on the cross-section for \(pp\rightarrow G^{*}_{\mathrm {KK}} \rightarrow hh \rightarrow b\bar{b}b\bar{b} \) of 3.2 (2.3) fb is set for a Kaluza-Klein graviton \(G^{*}_{\mathrm {KK}}\) mass of 1.0 (1.5) TeV, at the 95 % confidence level. The search for non-resonant Standard Model hh production sets an observed 95 % confidence level upper limit on the production cross-section \(\sigma (pp \rightarrow hh \rightarrow b\bar{b}b\bar{b})\) of 202 fb, compared to a Standard Model prediction of \(\sigma (pp \rightarrow hh \rightarrow b\bar{b}b\bar{b}) = 3.6 \pm 0.5\) fb.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Searches for both resonant and nonresonant Higgs boson pair production are performed in the hh → bb[tau][tau], [gamma][gamma]WW* final states using 20.3 fb-1 of pp collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No evidence of their production is observed and 95% confidence-level upper limits on the production cross sections are set. These results are then combined with the published results of the hh → [gamma][gamma]bb, bbbb analyses. An upper limit of 0.69 (0.47) pb on the nonresonant hh production is observed (expected), corresponding to 70 (48) times the SM gg → hh cross section. For production via narrow resonances, cross-section limits of hh production from a heavy Higgs boson decay are set as a function of the heavy Higgs boson mass. The observed (expected) limits range from 2.1 (1.1) pb at 260 GeV to 0.011 (0.018) pb at 1000 GeV. In addition, these results are interpreted in the context of two simplified scenarios of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.

Book Search for Resonant Pair Production of Higgs Bosons in the Bb bb Final State Using Pp Collisions at S

This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: A search for resonant Higgs boson pair production in the b ̄bb ̄b final state is presented. The analysis uses 126 fb−1-139 fb−1 of pp collision data at √s=13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is divided into two channels, targeting Higgs boson decays which are reconstructed as pairs of small-radius jets or as individual large-radius jets. Spin-0 and spin-2 benchmark signal models are considered, both of which correspond to resonant HH production via gluon-gluon fusion. The data are consistent with Standard Model predictions. Upper limits are set on the production cross section times branching ratio to Higgs boson pairs of a new resonance in the mass range from 251 GeV to 5 TeV

Book Search for Pair Production of Higgs Bosons in the Four Bottom Quark Final State Using Proton Proton Collisions at S

This book was released on 2018 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for Higgs boson pair production in the four b-jet final state is carried out with up to 36.1/fb of LHC proton-proton collision data collected at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016. Three benchmark signals are studied: a spin-2 graviton decaying into a Higgs boson pair, a scalar resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair, and Standard Model non-resonant Higgs boson pair production. This thesis presents a search in events with four individually resolved b-tagged jets. Higgs bosons produced with large momenta are reconstructed as single large radius jets with substructure. The analysis of this topology is presented in CERN-THESIS-2018-118. The two analyses are statistically combined and upper limits on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs times branching ratio to four b-quarks are set in each model. The combined result searches for resonance masses in the range 260-3000 GeV. No significant excess is observed; the largest deviation of data over prediction is found at a mass of 280 GeV, corresponding to 2.3 standard deviations globally. The observed 95% confidence level upper limit on the non-resonant production is 13 times the Standard Model prediction.

This book was released on 2015 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our search is described for a Higgs boson decaying into two photons, one of which has an internal conversion to a muon or an electron pair (ll?). The analysis is performed using proton–proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1. The events selected have an opposite-sign muon or electron pair and a high transverse momentum photon. No excess above background has been found in the three-body invariant mass range 120 mll? 150 GeV, and limits have been derived for the Higgs boson production cross section times branching fraction for the decay H → ?*? → ll?, where the dilepton invariant mass is less than 20 GeV. A Higgs boson with mH=125 GeV has a 95% confidence level (CL) exclusion observed (expected) limit is 6.7 (5.9sup+2.8/supsub-1.8/sub ) times the standard model prediction. Additionally, an upper limit at 95% CL on the branching fraction of H → (J/?)? for the 125 GeV Higgs boson is set at 1.5 × 10

Book Search for the Standard Model Higgs Boson in the Diphoton Final State in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for the Standard Model Higgs Boson in the Diphoton Final State in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a search for the Standard Model Higgs boson decaying into a pair of photons produced in p$par{p}$ collisions with a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10 fb-1 collected by the CDF II detector. Higgs boson candidate events are identified by reconstructing two photons in either the central or plug regions of the detector. The acceptance for identifying photons is significantly increased by using a new algorithm designed to reconstruct photons in the central region that have converted to an electron-positron pair. In addition, a new neural network discriminant is employed to improve the identification of non-converting central photons. No evidence for the Higgs boson is observed in the data, and we set an upper limit on the cross section for Higgs boson production multiplied by the H → ?? branching ratio. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV/c 2 , we obtain an observed (expected) limit of 12.2 (10.8) times the Standard Model prediction at the 95% credibility level.

Book Study of Higgs Boson Production and Its B b bar Decay in Gamma gamma Processes in Proton nucleus Collisions at the LHC

This book was released on 2010 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We explore for the first time the possibilities to measure an intermediate-mass (m{sub H} = 115-140 GeV/c2) Standard-Model Higgs boson in electromagnetic proton-lead (p Pb) interactions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) via its b{bar b} decay. Using equivalent Weizsacker-Williams photon fluxes and Higgs effective field theory for the coupling [gamma][gamma] → H, we obtain a leading-order cross section of the order of 0.3 pb for exclusive Higgs production in elastic (p Pb → [gamma][gamma] p H Pb) and semielastic (p Pb → [gamma][gamma] X H Pb) processes at √S{sub NN} = 8.8 TeV. After applying various kinematics cuts to remove the main backgrounds ([gamma][gamma] → b{bar b} and misidentified [gamma][gamma] → q{bar q} events), we find that a Higgs boson with m{sub H} = 120 GeV/c2 could be observed in the b{bar b} channel with a 3[sigma]-significance integrating 300 pb−1 with an upgraded pA luminosity of 1031 cm−2s−1. We also provide for the first time semielastic Higgs cross sections, along with elastic t{bar t} cross sections, for electromagnetic pp, pA and AA collisions at the LHC.
