Book excerpt: A search for diphoton events with large missing transverse energy produced in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV is presented. The data were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider between 2002 and 2010, and correspond to 6.3 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. The observed missing transverse energy distribution is well described by the Standard Model prediction, and 95% C.L. limits are derived on two realizations of theories beyond the Standard Model. In a gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario, the breaking scale [Lambda] is excluded for [Lambda]

Book Search for Events with Leptonic Jets and Missing Transverse Energy in mathbf p bar p Collisions at mathbf sqrt s

Download or read book Search for Events with Leptonic Jets and Missing Transverse Energy in mathbf p bar p Collisions at mathbf sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the first search for pair production of isolated jets of charged leptons in association with a large imbalance in transverse energy in p{bar p} collisions using 5.8 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. No excess is observed above Standard Model background, and the result is used to set upper limits on the production cross section of pairs of supersymmetric chargino and neutralino particles as a function of 'dark-photon' mass, where the dark photon is produced in the decay of the lightest supersymmetric particle.

This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present the results of a search for anomalous production of diphoton events with large missing transverse energy using the Collider Detector at Fermilab. In 202 pb[sup -1] of p[bar p] collisions at [radical]s = 1.96 TeV they observe no candidate events, with an expected standard model background of 0.27 [+-] 0.07(stat) [+-] 0.10(syst) events. The results exclude a lightest chargino of mass less than 167 GeV/c[sup 2], and lightest neutralino of 93 GeV/c[sup 2] at 95% confidence level in a gauge-mediated supersymmetry-breaking model with a light gravitino.

Download or read book Search for Large Extra Dimensions in the Exclusive Photon Missing Energy Channel in P Anti p Collisions written by Jose A. Lazoflores and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search was conducted for evidence of large extra dimensions (LED) at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory's Tevatron using the D0 detector. The Tevatron is a p{bar p} collider at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. Events with particles escaping into extra dimensions will have large missing energy. The search was carried out using data from a total luminosity of 197 {+-} 13 pb{sup -1} with an observable high transverse momentum photon and a large transverse missing energy. The 70 observed events are consistent with photons produced by standard known reactions plus other background processes produced by cosmic muons. The mass limits on the fundamental mass scale at 95% confidence level for large extra dimensions of 2, 4, 6 and 8 are 500 GeV, 581 GeV, 630 GeV, and 668 GeV respectively.

Book Search for Heavy Long lived Particles that Decay to Photons in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for Heavy Long lived Particles that Decay to Photons in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation presents the results of the first search for heavy, neutral, longlived particles that decay to photons at a hadron collider. We use a sample of +jet+missing transverse energy events in $p \bar{p}$ collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV taken with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Candidate events are selected based on the arrival time of a high-energy photon at the electromagnetic calorimeter as measured with a timing system that was recently installed. The final result is that we find 2 events, using 570±34 pb-1 of data collected during 2004-2005 at the Fermilab Tevatron, consistent with the background estimate of 1.3±0.7 events. While our search strategy does not rely on model-specific dynamics, we interpret this result in terms of cross section limits in a supersymmetric model with $\vec{X}$$0\atop{1}$ eG and set a world-best e 01 mass reach of 101 GeV/c2 at e = 5 ns. We can exclude any [gamma]+jet+missing transverse energy signal that would produce more than 5.5 events.

We use data corresponding to 1.11 ± 0.07 fb-1 integrated luminosity taken by the Run II Collider Detector at Fermilab, with a trigger requiring two electromagnetic showers, each with transverse energy ET > 2 GeV, and vetoing on hits in the forward beam shower counters. We select events with two electromagnetic showers, each with transverse energy ET > 2.5 GeV and pseudorapidity.

Download or read book A Search for New Physics in Photon lepton Events in Proton antiproton Collisions At radical S written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the results of a search in p[bar p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV for anomalous production of events containing a photon with large transverse energy and a lepton (e or[mu]) with large transverse energy, using 86 pb[sup -1] of data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab during the 1994-95 collider run at the Fermilab Tevatron. The presence of large missing transverse energy (E[sub T]), additional photons, or additional leptons in these events is also analyzed. The results are consistent with standard model expectations, with the possible exception of photon-lepton events with large E[sub T], for which the probability of a statistical fluctuation of the standard model expectation up to and above the observed level is 0.7%.

Book Search for New Phenomena in Events with a Photon and Missing Transverse Momentum in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for New Phenomena in Events with a Photon and Missing Transverse Momentum in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, results of a search for new phenomena in events with an energetic photon and large missing transverse momentum with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider are reported. The data were collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb-1. The observed data are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations. Exclusion limits are presented in models of new phenomena including pair production of dark matter candidates or large extra spatial dimensions. In a simplified model of dark matter and an axial-vector mediator, the search excludes mediator masses below 710 GeV for dark matter candidate masses below 150 GeV. In an effective theory of dark matter production, values of the suppression scale M * up to 570 GeV are excluded and the effect of truncation for various coupling values is reported. Finally, for the ADD large extra spatial dimension model the search places more stringent limits than earlier searches in the same event topology, excluding M D up to about 2.3 (2.8) TeV for two (six) additional spatial dimensions; the limits are reduced by 20-40% depending on the number of additional spatial dimensions when applying a truncation procedure.

Book Search for a Dijet Resonance in Events with Jets and Missing Transverse Energy in Pp over Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Search for a Dijet Resonance in Events with Jets and Missing Transverse Energy in Pp over Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on a search for a dijet resonance in events with only two or three jets and large imbalance in the total event transverse momentum. This search is sensitive to the possible production of a new particle in association with a W or Z boson, where the boson decays leptonically with one or more neutrinos in the final state. We use the full data set collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider at a proton-antiproton center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. These data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.1 fb{̂-1}. We study the invariant mass distribution of the two jets with highest transverse energy. We find good agreement between data and standard model background expectations and measure the combined cross section for WW, WZ, and ZZ production to be 13.8{̂+3.0}_{-2.7} pb. No significant anomalies are observed in the mass spectrum and 95% credibility level upper limits are set on the production rates of a potential new particle in association with a W or Z boson.
