This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The standard model (SM) of particle physics is spectacularly successful, yet the measured value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2)[mu] deviates from SM calculations by 3.6[sigma]. Several theoretical models attribute this to the existence of a "dark photon," an additional U(1) gauge boson, which is weakly coupled to ordinary photons. For this study, the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has searched for a dark photon, U, in [pi]0, [eta]2!gamma]e+e- decays and obtained upper limits of [theta](2×10-6) on U-[gamma] mixing at 90% C.L. for the mass range 30

Book excerpt: The standard model (SM) of particle physics is spectacularly successful, yet the measured value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (g-2)? deviates from SM calculations by 3.6?. Several theoretical models attribute this to the existence of a ?dark photon,? an additional U(1) gauge boson, which is weakly coupled to ordinary photons. For this study, the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has searched for a dark photon, U, in ?0,?????????e+e- decays and obtained upper limits of ?(2×10-6) on U-? mixing at 90% C.L. for the mass range 30msubU/sub90 MeV/csup2/sup. Lastly, combined with other experimental limits, the remaining region in the U-? mixing parameter space that can explain the (g-2)sub?/sub deviation from its SM value is nearly completely excluded at the 90% confidence level, with only a small region of 29msubU

Download or read book Math Mi Beta mi math Decay of Math Mmultiscripts Mi Mathvariant written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here, the rare [beta]-decay channel of 6He into the [alpha]+d continuum was investigated at the REX-ISOLDE facility. Bunches of postaccelerated 6He ions were implanted into the optical time projection chamber (OTPC), where the decays with emission of charged particles were recorded. This novel technique allowed us to extend the low-energy end of the spectrum down to 150 keV in [alpha]+d center of mass, corresponding to a deuteron energy of 100 keV. The branching ratio for this process amounts to [2.78±0.07(stat)±0.17(sys)]×10-6. The shape of the spectrum is found to be in a good agreement with a three-body model, while the total intensity is about 20% larger than the predicted one.

Book excerpt: This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 13th International Conference on High Performance Computing in Computational Science, VECPAR 2018, held in São Pedro, Brazil, in September 2018. The 17 full papers and one short paper included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 32 submissions presented at the conference. The papers cover the following topics: heterogeneous systems, shared memory systems and GPUs, and techniques including domain decomposition, scheduling and load balancing, with a strong focus on computational science applications.

Book Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions

Download or read book Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain papers from the 2009 Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics (WABI), held at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during September 12–13, 2009. WABI 2009 was the ninth annual conference in this series, which focuses on novel algorithms that address imp- tantproblemsingenomics,molecularbiology,andevolution.Theconference- phasizes research that describes computationally e?cient algorithms and data structures that have been implemented and tested in simulations and on real data. WABI is sponsored by the European Association for Theoretical C- puter Science (EATCS) and the International Society for Computational Bi- ogy (ISCB). WABI 2009 was supported by the Penn Genome Frontiers Institute and the Penn Center for Bioinformatics at the University of Pennsylvania. For the 2009 conference, 90 full papers were submitted for review by the Program Committee, and from this strong ?eld of submissions, 34 papers were chosen for presentation at the conference and publication in the proceedings. The ?nal programcovered a wide range of topics including gene interaction n- works, molecular phylogeny, RNA and protein structure, and genome evolution.
