Download or read book Search for Anomalous WW WZ 2 e nu jj Production at D0 Busqueda de Produccion Anomala WW WZ 2 nu jj en D Zero written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for anomalous WW and WZ production in p{anti p} collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at Fermilab is presented. With a data sample of p{anti p} → e[nu]jjX events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 76.5 ± 4.1pb−1. 399 candidate events were identified, from which 387.1 ± 39.8 events were estimated to be background. No deviations from the Standard Model were seen, which predicts 16.2 ± 2.7 events. The 95% CL limit on the cross section [sigma](p{anti p} → W+W−X) was calculated to be 93.8 pb. Limits on the CP-conserving anomalous WW{sub {gamma}} and WWZ coupling parameters were obtained from a binned likelihood fit to the transverse momentum spectrum of the W boson. Assuming that the WW{sub {gamma}} and WWZ coupling parameters are equal, the 95% CL limits on the CP-conserving couplings are -0.56

Book Physics In Collision Xix Procs

Download or read book Physics In Collision Xix Procs written by Myron Campbell and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-07-27 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The XIX Physics in Collision conference reviewed experimental results in electroweak, quantum chromodynamics, neutrino, bottom and rare kaon physics, and updated recent developments in the area of gamma ray bursts as well as the issue of the cosmological constant and dark matter. The conference opened with reports on electroweak physics. A decade of precision experiments in laboratories around the world failed to uncover any significant deviations from standard model predictions. Precise W boson and top quark mass measurements suggest a low mass Higgs boson in the standard model, possibly within the reach of the LEP II and the upgraded Tevatron colliders. These presentations were followed by a summary of the latest results on searches for Higgs and supersymmetry. There were three reports on neutrino physics: atmospheric, solar and reactor/accelerator based neutrino experiments and results. Impressive Super-K results strongly suggest νμ→νς oscillation, a scenario confirmed by less precise Soudan2 and MACRO data. The latest results on strange and heavy quark physics were summarized. High statistics from CLEO, LEP I and Tevatron have enabled experimenters to study many rare charm and bottom quark decays for the first time. Among many other interesting results presented, the first measurements of sin 2β by CDF and ε′/ε by KTeV provide a preview of expected developments in the near future.

Book Search for Anomalous Couplings in Boosted mathrm WW WZ to ell nu mathrm Q bar q Production in Proton proton Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Search for Anomalous Couplings in Boosted mathrm WW WZ to ell nu mathrm Q bar q Production in Proton proton Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Letter presents a search for new physics manifested as anomalous triple gauge boson couplings in WW and WZ diboson production in proton-proton collisions. The search is performed using events containing a W boson that decays leptonically and a W or Z boson whose decay products are merged into a single reconstructed jet. The data, collected at sqrt(s) =8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19 inverse femtobarns. No evidence for anomalous triple gauge couplings is found and the following 95% confidence level limits are set on their values: lambda ([-0.011,0.011]), Delta kappa[gamma] ([-0.044,0.063]), and Delta g[1,Z] ([-0.0087,0.024]). These limits are also translated into their effective field theory equivalents: c[WWW]/ Lambda^2, ([-2.7,2.7] TeV^{-2}), c[B]/ Lambda^2, ([-14,17] TeV^{-2}), and c[W]/ Lambda^2, ([-2.0,5.7] TeV^{-2}).

Book Advances in Jet Substructure at the LHC

Download or read book Advances in Jet Substructure at the LHC written by Roman Kogler and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-10 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the reader to the field of jet substructure, starting from the basic considerations for capturing decays of boosted particles in individual jets, to explaining state-of-the-art techniques. Jet substructure methods have become ubiquitous in data analyses at the LHC, with diverse applications stemming from the abundance of jets in proton-proton collisions, the presence of pileup and multiple interactions, and the need to reconstruct and identify decays of highly-Lorentz boosted particles. The last decade has seen a vast increase in our knowledge of all aspects of the field, with a proliferation of new jet substructure algorithms, calculations and measurements which are presented in this book. Recent developments and algorithms are described and put into the larger experimental context. Their usefulness and application are shown in many demonstrative examples and the phenomenological and experimental effects influencing their performance are discussed. A comprehensive overview is given of measurements and searches for new phenomena performed by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations. This book shows the impressive versatility of jet substructure methods at the LHC.

Book Electroweak Physics at the LHC

Download or read book Electroweak Physics at the LHC written by Matthias U. Mozer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-03-24 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book discusses the recent experimental results obtained at the LHC that involve electroweak bosons. The results are placed into an appropriate theoretical and historical context. The work pays special attention to the rising subject of hadronically decaying bosons with high boosts, documenting the state-of-the-art identification techniques and highlighting typical results. The text is not limited to electroweak physics in the strict sense, but also discusses the use of electroweak vector-bosons as tool in the study of other subjects in particle physics, such as determinations of the proton structure or the search for new exotic particles. The book is particularly well suited for graduate students, starting their thesis work on topics that involve electroweak bosons, as the book provides a comprehensive description of phenomena observable at current accelerators as well as a summary of the most relevant experimental techniques.
