Book Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications

Download or read book Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications written by Alexander Vasil'ev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume highlights the main results of the research performed within the network “Harmonic and Complex Analysis and its Applications” (HCAA), which was a five-year (2007–2012) European Science Foundation Programme intended to explore and to strengthen the bridge between two scientific communities: analysts with broad backgrounds in complex and harmonic analysis and mathematical physics, and specialists in physics and applied sciences. It coordinated actions for advancing harmonic and complex analysis and for expanding its application to challenging scientific problems. Particular topics considered by this Programme included conformal and quasiconformal mappings, potential theory, Banach spaces of analytic functions and their applications to the problems of fluid mechanics, conformal field theory, Hamiltonian and Lagrangian mechanics, and signal processing. This book is a collection of surveys written as a result of activities of the Programme and will be interesting and useful for professionals and novices in analysis and mathematical physics, as well as for graduate students. Browsing the volume, the reader will undoubtedly notice that, as the scope of the Programme is rather broad, there are many interrelations between the various contributions, which can be regarded as different facets of a common theme.

Book Taylor Coefficients and Coefficient Multipliers of Hardy and Bergman Type Spaces

Download or read book Taylor Coefficients and Coefficient Multipliers of Hardy and Bergman Type Spaces written by Miroljub Jevtić and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-12-24 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a systematic overview of the theory of Taylor coefficients of functions in some classical spaces of analytic functions and especially of the coefficient multipliers between spaces of Hardy type. Offering a comprehensive reference guide to the subject, it is the first of its kind in this area. After several introductory chapters covering the basic material, a large variety of results obtained over the past 80 years, including the most recent ones, are treated in detail. Several chapters end with discussions of practical applications and related topics that graduate students and experts in other subjects may find useful for their own purposes. Thus, a further aim of the book is to communicate to non-specialists some concrete facts that may be of value in their own work. The book can also be used as a textbook or a supplementary reference for an advanced graduate course. It is primarily intended for specialists in complex and functional analysis, graduate students, and experts in other related fields.

Book The Theory of H b Spaces Volume 2

Download or read book The Theory of H b Spaces Volume 2 written by Emmanuel Fricain and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-10-20 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An H(b) space is defined as a collection of analytic functions that are in the image of an operator. The theory of H(b) spaces bridges two classical subjects, complex analysis and operator theory, which makes it both appealing and demanding. Volume 1 of this comprehensive treatment is devoted to the preliminary subjects required to understand the foundation of H(b) spaces, such as Hardy spaces, Fourier analysis, integral representation theorems, Carleson measures, Toeplitz and Hankel operators, various types of shift operators and Clark measures. Volume 2 focuses on the central theory. Both books are accessible to graduate students as well as researchers: each volume contains numerous exercises and hints, and figures are included throughout to illustrate the theory. Together, these two volumes provide everything the reader needs to understand and appreciate this beautiful branch of mathematics.

  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-08-30
  • ISBN : 3034801807
  • Pages : 374 pages

Download or read book Visual Complex Functions written by Elias Wegert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-30 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a systematic introduction to functions of one complex variable. Its novel feature is the consistent use of special color representations – so-called phase portraits – which visualize functions as images on their domains. Reading Visual Complex Functions requires no prerequisites except some basic knowledge of real calculus and plane geometry. The text is self-contained and covers all the main topics usually treated in a first course on complex analysis. With separate chapters on various construction principles, conformal mappings and Riemann surfaces it goes somewhat beyond a standard programme and leads the reader to more advanced themes. In a second storyline, running parallel to the course outlined above, one learns how properties of complex functions are reflected in and can be read off from phase portraits. The book contains more than 200 of these pictorial representations which endow individual faces to analytic functions. Phase portraits enhance the intuitive understanding of concepts in complex analysis and are expected to be useful tools for anybody working with special functions – even experienced researchers may be inspired by the pictures to new and challenging questions. Visual Complex Functions may also serve as a companion to other texts or as a reference work for advanced readers who wish to know more about phase portraits.

Book Flag transitive Steiner Designs

Download or read book Flag transitive Steiner Designs written by Michael Huber and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-03-21 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The characterization of combinatorial or geometric structures in terms of their groups of automorphisms has attracted considerable interest in the last decades and is now commonly viewed as a natural generalization of Felix Klein’s Erlangen program(1872).Inaddition,especiallyfor?nitestructures,importantapplications to practical topics such as design theory, coding theory and cryptography have made the ?eld even more attractive. The subject matter of this research monograph is the study and class- cation of ?ag-transitive Steiner designs, that is, combinatorial t-(v,k,1) designs which admit a group of automorphisms acting transitively on incident point-block pairs. As a consequence of the classi?cation of the ?nite simple groups, it has been possible in recent years to characterize Steiner t-designs, mainly for t=2,adm- ting groups of automorphisms with su?ciently strong symmetry properties. For Steiner 2-designs, arguably the most general results have been the classi?cation of all point 2-transitive Steiner 2-designs in 1985 by W. M. Kantor, and the almost complete determination of all ?ag-transitive Steiner 2-designs announced in 1990 byF.Buekenhout,A.Delandtsheer,J.Doyen,P.B.Kleidman,M.W.Liebeck, and J. Saxl. However, despite the classi?cation of the ?nite simple groups, for Steiner t-designs witht> 2 most of the characterizations of these types have remained long-standing challenging problems. Speci?cally, the determination of all ?- transitive Steiner t-designs with 3? t? 6 has been of particular interest and object of research for more than 40 years.

Book A Dictionary of Inequalities

Download or read book A Dictionary of Inequalities written by Peter Bullen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-08-21 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The literature on inequalities is vast-in recent years the number of papers as well as the number of journals devoted to the subject have increased dramatically. At best, locating a particular inequality within the literature can be a cumbersome task. A Dictionary of Inequalities ends the dilemma of where to turn to find a result, a related inequality, or the references to the information you need. It provides a concise, alphabetical listing of each inequality-by its common name or its subject-with a short statement of the result, some comments, references to related inequalities, and a list of sources for further information. The author uses only the most elementary of mathematical terminology and does not offer proofs, thus making an interest in inequalities the only prerequisite for using the text. The author focuses on intuitive, physical forms of inequalities rather than their most general versions, and retains the beauty and importance of original versions rather than listing their later, abstract forms. He presents each in its simplest form with other renditions, such as for complex numbers and vectors, as extensions or under different headings. He has kept the book to a more manageable size by omitting inequalities in areas-such as elementary geometric and trigonometric inequalities-rarely used outside their fields. The end result is a current, concise, reference that puts the essential results on inequalities within easy reach. A Dictionary of Inequalities carries the beauty and attraction of the best and most successful dictionaries: on looking up a given item, the reader is likely to be intrigued and led by interest to others.
