Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Located in upstate New York on the western banks of the Mohawk River, Schenectadys stockade is recognized as the first historic district of New York State and has been protected by strict zoning laws since the 1960s. As one of the oldest European-settled areas in the Unites States, the stockade contains the highest concentration of historic buildings in the country. During the early 19th century, the stockade had become a center for business, but a major fire in 1819 swept most of it away. Remarkably, more than 40 buildings have remained a part of the landscape for more than two centuries. As a result, a mix of architecture from 17th-century Dutch to modern exists within the four blocks that make up the stockade. Through photographs and maps, Schenectadys Stockade: New Yorks First Historic District tells the story of one of Americas earliest communities.

Book The Secret Stockade and Schenectady Cabal

Download or read book The Secret Stockade and Schenectady Cabal written by David Long and published by . This book was released on 2020-07 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I grew up in the Historic Stockade in the 1970s, when my mother taught Sunday school at St. George's Episcopal Church--she worked at the YWCA and Women's Battered Shelter, and was the director of the City Mission Bible Club Downtown. Although I was baptized at the age of two (2) Catholic on All Souls Day, November 2, 1969, my father was Protestant. WHAT'S INTERESTING ABOUT ALL SOULS DAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1969, is that the SATANIC BIBLE was published the next month on DECEMBER 1 [12th month+1st day= the occult number 13 and 1969 = 1 head, Satan and 666 embedded]. I was baptized as an adult Pentecostal, then again Non-Denominational.When Anton LaVey published the Satanic Bible on December 1, 1969, the Masonic GROTTO (Mystic Order Veiled Prophets Enchanted Realm aka Fairchild Deviltry Committee; est. June 1890, in Hamilton, NY), became affiliated with the real-life CHURCH OF SATAN and Luciferians. Our Christian and U.S. military foreign service veteran parents taught us kids to use prayer and the Holy Bible to fight political and religious corruption (1 Corinthians 1:20-31). First Reformed Church completed their banquet facility and the Stockade Inn caught fire on 1/16/2020. My parents were married 39 years, and we only visited my dad's AME church on Mumford Street on Father's Day. Nevertheless, I know the "SECRET STOCKADE" history of religious wars and schisms between Schenectady's three (3) oldest churches, St. George's Lodge No. 6 and Mystic Order Veiled Prophets Enchanted Realm (MOVPER) FREEMASONS; and the Schenectady County Historical Society secrets and its affiliation with the aforementioned organizations--as well as the Ancient Order of Hibernians (Roman Catholic "firemen family"), Mabee Farm, Tammany Hall LGBTQ+ occultism and Tarot Card readings at the Henry Brouwer House. In 2014, I moved back to Schenectady after 27-years living and traveling in the states and abroad. As a divorced dad of soon to be four adult kids then, I called a realtor and moved to the Historic Stockade--right across the street from the Van Dyck Lounge. At the time, Sch'dy Co. Legislator Jeff McDonald owned the Van Dyck and Mad Jack Brewing Company, also located at the Van Dyck restaurant property--he also owned 20 North Broadway and Pinhead Susan's restaurants--and the Stockade Inn BNB. The McDonalds sold the Stockade Inn to Rob Gregor of Gregor Hotels in March 2019+The Historic Stockade offers so many charming attributes that make it a tourism destination. However, since the GALESI GROUP and Legislator Jeff McDonald, and Becky Daniels took over the DISCOVER SCHENECTADY® county tourism bureau--and opened Mohawk Harbor/Mallozzi's Rivers Casino--the Historic Stockade is being given to Cabal developers to close MOM & POP restaurants and nightlife venues, landmark BNB inns and other day trip tourism destinations. THE PURPOSE OF CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS IS TO CALL EVILDOERS TO REPENTANCE (1 JOHN 1:8-10 NLT).

Book The History of the Snowman

Download or read book The History of the Snowman written by Bob Eckstein and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-10-30 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who made the first snowman? Who first came up with the idea of placing snowballs on top of each other, and who decided they would use a carrot for a nose? Most puzzling of all: How can this mystery ever be solved, with all the evidence long since melted? The snowman appears everywhere on practically everything -- from knickknacks to greeting cards to seasonal sweaters we plan to return. Whenever we see big snowballs our first impulse is to deck them out with a top hat. Humorist and writer Bob Eckstein has long been fascinated by this ubiquitous symbol of wintertime fun -- and finally, for the first time, one of the world's most popular icons gets his due. A thoroughly entertaining exploration, The History of the Snowman travels back in time to shed light on the snowman's enigmatic past -- from the present day, in which the snowman reigns as the King of Kitsch, to the Dark Ages, with the creation of the very first snowman. Eckstein's curiosity began playfully enough, but soon snowballed into a (mostly) earnest quest of chasing Frosty around the world, into museums and libraries, and seeking out the advice of leading historians and scholars. The result is a riveting history that reaches back through centuries and across cultures -- sweeping from fifteenth-century Italian snowballs to eighteenth-century Russian ice sculptures to the regrettable "white-trash years" (1975-2000). The snowman is not just part of our childhood memories, but is an integral part of our world culture, appearing -- much like a frozen Forrest Gump -- alongside dignitaries and celebrities during momentous events. Again and again, the snowman pops up in rare prints, paintings, early movies, advertising and, over the past century, in every art form imaginable. And the jolly snowman -- ostensibly as pure as the driven snow -- also harbors a dark past full of political intrigue, sex, and violence. With more than two hundred illustrations and a special section of the best snowman cartoons, The History of the Snowman is a truly original winter classic -- smart, surprisingly enlightening, and quite simply the coolest book ever.

Book Schenectady Genesis Volume II

Download or read book Schenectady Genesis Volume II written by John Gearing Esq and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-26 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Schenectady Genesis, Volume II, is a follow-up to Susan Staffa's highly acclaimed first volume, the Colonial Crucible 1661-1774. This standalone volume traces the four most tumultuous decades in the history of Schenectady: from the ending of the French & Indian War into the War for Independence, and later Schenectady's own fight for independence from Albany. At the same time, the town was burgeoning into an economic powerhouse at the center of the international fur trade, while trying not to tear itself apart over who owned the town's Common Lands. This all plays against the growing friction of Schenectady's transition away from its Dutch roots into a town with a greater English influence. It is not a stretch to state the armies and militia from Schenectady, Albany and Tryon counties played major roles in securing the northern border and helping to turn the tide in the Battles of Saratoga and skirmishes throughout the Mohawk Valley. The work strongly captures the state of tension that enveloped the region as fears of invasion from the north echoed throughout the valley. While military coverage is one of the great strengths of the book, Schenectady Genesis, Volume II, is so much more than a broadsheet to stake military claims. Detailed explications and charts covering businesses and their owners, churches and religious figures, governmental leaders, the growth of education in the city, and the roles of everyday citizens are all here. Extensive and well-document endnotes provide a wealth of historical information from primary sources that add flesh to storylines that would otherwise be ignored. TestimonialsJohn Gearing's exhaustive research has produced a wonderful book that will delight those readers looking for a complete picture of the American Revolution in and around Schenectady. It is also much more than just the recounting of military maneuvers, as it explores the complex cultural and business aspects of American colonial life in the second half of the 18th century. - Bill Buell, Schenectady County HistorianJohn Gearing's engaging style weaves together a narrative of the political, commercial, and social life of Schenectady as it grew into a city. These stories connect us to our past, bringing to life the times and people who came before us. Schenectady Genesis, volumes I and II are a valuable resource for the historic preservation community, giving further evidence to why Schenectady's important history and unique cultural resources are worthy of preservation.- Gloria Kishton, Chair, Schenectady Heritage Foundation

When he identifies the man who has declared war on his client, Jones’ secluded cabin is riddled with bullets and then burned to the ground. An innocent woman is murdered.
