Book excerpt: SchematicSolver is a powerful and easy-to-use schematic capture, symbolic analysis, processing and implementation tool in Mathematica. Using SchematicSolver's unique capabilities and mixed symbolic-numeric processing, you can perform fast and accurate simulations of discrete-time (digital) and continuous-time (analog) systems. SchematicSolver is a convenient and comprehensive environment in which to draw, analyze, solve, design, and implement systems in Mathematica. It is the first mouse-driven, interactive drawing tool based entirely on Mathematica's built-in functions and palettes. With even a minimum understanding of basic system theory, you can successfully use SchematicSolver to design and simulate various systems: dynamic feedback and control systems, digital filters, nonlinear discrete-time systems, and much more. For beginners, SchematicSolver is perfect for learning and experimenting with system analysis, implementation and design. For advanced and experienced users, SchematicSolver's symbolic analyses and processing provide a sophisticated environment for testing and trying all the "what if" scenarios for system design. Best of all, you can accomplish more in less time with SchematicSolver than with traditional prototyping methods. The SchematicSolver 2.3 application package requires Mathematica 9.

Book Passive RF and Microwave Integrated Circuits

Download or read book Passive RF and Microwave Integrated Circuits written by Leo Maloratsky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-12-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growth in RF and wireless/mobile computing devices that operate at microwave frequencies has resulted in explosive demand for integrated circuits capable of operating at such frequencies in order to accomplish functions like frequency division, phase shifting, attenuation, and isolators and circulators for antennas. This book is an introduction to such ICs, combining theory and practical applications of those devices. In addition to this combined theory and application approach, the author discusses the critical importance of differing fabrication materials on the performance of ICs at different frequencies. This is an area often overlooked when choosing ICs for RF and microwave applications, yet it can be a crucial factor in how an IC performs in a given application. Gives reader a solid background in an increasingly important area of circuit design Emphasis on combination of theoretical discussions with practical application examples In-depth discussion of critical, but often overlooked topic of different fabrication material performances at varying frequencies

Book Electrical Distribution Systems

Download or read book Electrical Distribution Systems written by Dale R. Patrick and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-01-20 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 2009. Comprehensive in scope, this book, now in its fully updated second edition, takes an applications-oriented approach to electrical distribution systems. All critical aspects of power production, distribution, control, conversion and measurement are presented. The authors place emphasis on real-world applications, examining electrical distribution and associated system operation from a user's or technician's point of view. The use of an ‘electrical power systems' model facilitates the reader's comprehensive understanding of electrical distribution, utilizing power distribution as a key starting point, and then applying that relationship to other important associated systems. The final chapter of this new edition is re-focused to emphasize the economics of distribution systems, computer power requirements and current environmental considerations. The book provides a valuable desk reference for the working engineer, contractor or technician who needs a thorough application-based guide for finding the best solutions to today's electrical distribution challenges.

Book Financial Contagion Through Bank Deleveraging

Download or read book Financial Contagion Through Bank Deleveraging written by Mr.Thierry Tressel and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2010-10-01 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The financial crisis has highlighted the importance of various channels of financial contagion across countries. This paper first presents stylized facts of international banking activities during the crisis. It then describes a simple model of financial contagion based on bank balance sheet identities and behavioral assumptions of deleveraging. Cascade effects can be triggered by bank losses or contractions of interbank lending activities. As a result of shocks on assets or on liabilities of banks, a global deleveraging of international banking activities can occur. Simple simulations are presented to illustrate the use of the model and the relative importance of contagion channels, relying on bank losses of advanced countries’ banking systems during the financial crisis to calibrate the shock. The outcome of the simulations is compared with the deleveraging observed during the crisis suggesting that leverage is a major determinant of financial contagion.

Book Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits

Download or read book Foundations of Analog and Digital Electronic Circuits written by Anant Agarwal and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-07-01 with total page 1008 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike books currently on the market, this book attempts to satisfy two goals: combine circuits and electronics into a single, unified treatment, and establish a strong connection with the contemporary world of digital systems. It will introduce a new way of looking not only at the treatment of circuits, but also at the treatment of introductory coursework in engineering in general. Using the concept of ''abstraction,'' the book attempts to form a bridge between the world of physics and the world of large computer systems. In particular, it attempts to unify electrical engineering and computer science as the art of creating and exploiting successive abstractions to manage the complexity of building useful electrical systems. Computer systems are simply one type of electrical systems. +Balances circuits theory with practical digital electronics applications. +Illustrates concepts with real devices. +Supports the popular circuits and electronics course on the MIT OpenCourse Ware from which professionals worldwide study this new approach. +Written by two educators well known for their innovative teaching and research and their collaboration with industry. +Focuses on contemporary MOS technology.

Book Multivariable Feedback Control

Download or read book Multivariable Feedback Control written by Sigurd Skogestad and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-11-04 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multivariable Feedback Control: Analysis and Design, Second Edition presents a rigorous, yet easily readable, introduction to the analysis and design of robust multivariable control systems. Focusing on practical feedback control and not on system theory in general, this book provides the reader with insights into the opportunities and limitations of feedback control. Taking into account the latest developments in the field, this fully revised and updated second edition: * features a new chapter devoted to the use of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs); * presents current results on fundamental performance limitations introduced by RHP-poles and RHP-zeros; * introduces updated material on the selection of controlled variables and self-optimizing control; * provides simple IMC tuning rules for PID control; * covers additional material including unstable plants, the feedback amplifier, the lower gain margin and a clear strategy for incorporating integral action into LQG control; * includes numerous worked examples, exercises and case studies, which make frequent use of Matlab and the new Robust Control toolbox. Multivariable Feedback Control: Analysis and Design, Second Edition is an excellent resource for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses studying multivariable control. It is also an invaluable tool for engineers who want to understand multivariable control, its limitations, and how it can be applied in practice. The analysis techniques and the material on control structure design should prove very useful in the new emerging area of systems biology. Reviews of the first edition: "Being rich in insights and practical tips on controller design, the book should also prove to be very beneficial to industrial control engineers, both as a reference book and as an educational tool." Applied Mechanics Reviews "In summary, this book can be strongly recommended not only as a basic text in multivariable control techniques for graduate and undergraduate students, but also as a valuable source of information for control engineers." International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing
