Book Scheduling Computer and Manufacturing Processes

Download or read book Scheduling Computer and Manufacturing Processes written by Jacek Blazewicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in a clear and concise manner this book provides a theoretical and application oriented analysis of deterministic scheduling problems arising in computer and manufacturing environments. Various scheduling problems are discussed where different problem parameters such as task processing times, urgency weights, arrival times, deadlines, precedence constraints, and processor speed factor are involved. Polynomial and exponential time optimization algorithms as well as approximation and heuristic approaches are presented and discussed. Moreover, resource-constrained, imprecise computation, flexible flow shop and dynamic job shop scheduling, as well as flexible manufacturing systems, are considered. An excellent analysis based on real-world applications with plenty of examples.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theoretical and application-oriented analysis of deterministic scheduling problems arising in computer and manufacturing environments. The important classical results are surveyed with particular attention paid to single-processor scheduling, along with general models such as resource-constrained scheduling, flexible flow shops, dynamic job shops, and special flexible manufacturing systems. Polynomial and exponential-time optimization algorithms as well as approximation and heuristic ones are presented using a Pascal-like notation, before being discussed in the light of particular problems. Basic concepts from scheduling theory and related fields are described to assist less advanced readers.

Book Just in Time Scheduling

Download or read book Just in Time Scheduling written by Joanna Jozefowska and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-08-08 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As supply chain management has matured, maintaining the precise flow of goods to manage schedules (and minimize inventories) on a just-in-time basis still presents major challenges. This has inspired an array of models and algorithms to help ensure the precise flow of components and final products into inventories to meet just-in-time requirements. This is the first survey of the theoretical work on computer systems models and algorithms utilized in just-in-time scheduling.

Download or read book Scheduling in Computer and Manufacturing Systems written by Jacek Blazewicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of a joint Gennan-Polish project which has been partially sup ported by the Committee for Scientific Research 1 and the Deutsche Forschungsge meinschaft2. We appreciate the help of both institutions. The planning and preparation of the manuscript was an iterative and rather lengthy process which we had to stop at a certain stage, but it does not mean that we were fully satisfied with the output. Thus, comments and improvements will be appreciated. In the meantime we would like to thank many colleagues who already discussed with us different topics presented in the book. We are not able to list all of them but we would like to express our special gratitude toward Peter Brucker, Gerd Finke, Adam Janiak, Wieslaw Kubiak, Kathryn Stecke, and Dominique de Werra. As to the technical help in preparing the manuscript our thanks are due to Barbara Blarewicz, Brigitte Ecker, Maria Kaminska, and Brigitte Sand, especially for their typing efforts.

Book Scheduling in Industry 4 0 and Cloud Manufacturing

Download or read book Scheduling in Industry 4 0 and Cloud Manufacturing written by Boris Sokolov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-08 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has resulted from the activities of IFAC TC 5.2 “Manufacturing Modelling for Management and Control”. The book offers an introduction and advanced techniques of scheduling applications to cloud manufacturing and Industry 4.0 systems for larger audience. This book uncovers fundamental principles and recent developments in the theory and application of scheduling methodology to cloud manufacturing and Industry 4.0. The purpose of this book is to present recent developments in scheduling in cloud manufacturing and Industry 4.0 and to systemize these developments in new taxonomies and methodological principles to shape this new research domain. This book addresses the needs of both researchers and practitioners to uncover the challenges and opportunities of scheduling techniques’ applications to cloud manufacturing and Industry 4.0. For the first time, it comprehensively conceptualizes scheduling in cloud manufacturing and Industry 4.0 systems as a new research domain. The chapters of the book are written by the leading international experts and utilize methods of operations research, industrial engineering and computer science. Such a multi-disciplinary combination is unique and comprehensively deciphers major problem taxonomies, methodologies, and applications to scheduling in cloud manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

Book The Planning and Scheduling of Production Systems

Download or read book The Planning and Scheduling of Production Systems written by Abdelhakim Artiba and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If one accepts the premise that there is no wealth without production, whether at the individual or national level, one is immediately led to the conclusion that the study of productive systems lies at the forefront of subjects that should be intensively, as well as rationally and extensively, studied to achieve the desired 'sustainable growth' of society, where the latter is defined as growth in the quality of life that does not waste the available resources in the long run. Since the end of World War II there has been a remarkable evolution in thinking about production, abetted to a large measure by the nascent field of informatics: the computer technology and the edifices that have been built around it, such as information gathering and dissemination worldwide through communication networks, software products, peripheral interfaces, etc. Additionally, the very thought processes that guide and motivate studies in production have undergone fundamental changes which verge on being revolutionary, thanks to developments in operations research and cybernetics.
