Book Thermodynamics with Chemical Engineering Applications

Download or read book Thermodynamics with Chemical Engineering Applications written by Elias I. Franses and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-08-25 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master the principles of thermodynamics with this comprehensive undergraduate textbook, carefully developed to provide students of chemical engineering and chemistry with a deep and intuitive understanding of the practical applications of these fundamental ideas and principles. Logical and lucid explanations introduce core thermodynamic concepts in the context of their measurement and experimental origin, giving students a thorough understanding of how theoretical concepts apply to practical situations. A broad range of real-world applications relate key topics to contemporary issues, such as energy efficiency, environmental engineering and climate change, and further reinforce students' understanding of the core material. This is a carefully organized, highly pedagogical treatment, including over 500 open-ended study questions for discussion, over 150 varied homework problems, clear and objective standards for measuring student progress, and a password-protected solution manual for instructors.

Book Fundamentals of Equilibrium and Steady State Thermodynamics

Download or read book Fundamentals of Equilibrium and Steady State Thermodynamics written by N.W. Tschoegl and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2000-02-14 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes the salient features of both equilibrium and steady-state thermodynamic theory under a uniform postulatory viewpoint. The emphasis is upon the formal aspects and logical structure of thermodynamic theory, allowing it to emerge as a coherent whole, unfettered by much of those details which - albeit indispensable in practical applications - tend to obscure this coherent structure. Largely because of this, statistical mechanics and reference to molecular structure are, barring an occasional allusion, avoided. The treatment is, therefore, 'classical', or - using a perhaps more appropriate word - 'phenomenological'. The volume almost exclusively deals with 'ideal' systems, given that the treatment of 'real' systems properly belongs in the realm of applied, rather than theoretical thermodynamics. For these reasons, only selected ideal systems are covered. Ideal gases are discussed extensively. The ideal solution is treated as an example of a liquid system. The amorphous ideal rubber serves as an example of a solid. The formalism developed in these sections is a model for the treatment of other, more complex systems. This short structural overview is written in the hope that a knowledge of steady-state theory will deepen readers' understanding of thermodynamics as a whole.

Book The Divine Universe

Download or read book The Divine Universe written by Swami Abhayananda and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2008-09 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Divine Universe, mystic, poet and philosopher, Swami Abhayananda, turns his eye to the Divine origin and manifestation of the universe, and offers a spiritual interpretation of "The Big Bang" and the "singularity" from which contemporary cosmologists say it was produced. In addition, he applies his unique vision to the subjects of nondualism, mystical experience, and the nature of the soul in his broad portrayal of a living universe ensouled in the Mind of God. Blending his mystical insights with an uncommon grasp of contemporary scientific issues, Abhayananda has produced what will no doubt become a spiritual classic that will shift paradigms, inspire and excite us, and forever revolutionize our perspective on the universe and its origin.

Book Internal Flow

Download or read book Internal Flow written by E. M. Greitzer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2007-02-26 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the analysis and behaviour of internal flows encountered in propulsion systems, fluid machinery (compressors, turbines and pumps) and ducts (diffusers, nozzles and combustion chambers). The focus is on phenomena that are important in setting the performance of a broad range of fluid devices. The authors show that even for complex processes one can learn a great deal about the behaviour of such devices from a clear understanding and rigorous use of basic principles. Throughout the book they illustrate theoretical principles by reference to technological applications. The strong emphasis on fundamentals, however, means that the ideas presented can be applied beyond internal flow to other types of fluid motion. The book equips students and practising engineers with a range of new analytical tools. These tools offer enhanced interpretation and application of both experimental measurements and the computational procedures that characterize modern fluids engineering.

  • Author : Wayne Talbot

Download or read book Religion of God or Man written by Wayne Talbot and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-02-09 with total page 679 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there evidence for the existence of God, defined as the transcendent entity responsible for all material existence? The author believes that there is, albeit such evidence is not necessarily proof for everyone. In this two-part study, Wayne Talbot firstly presents the evidence that has convinced him that God is the most plausible explanation. With a limited but sufficient understanding of the nature of existence, in terms of energy, matter, space, and time, he demonstrates his primary axiom: that nothing can explain itself. The natural corollary of this is that scientists will never be able to explain the origins of material existence by examining the material itself. An explanation of origins must always lie outside the entity being examined. This is why scientists cannot explain the origin of the proposed singularity and why some scientists seek an alternative to the Big Bang model of our universe, even resorting to logical absurdities such as the universe creating itself out of nothing while in the presence of something. With the reality of God being his presupposition for what follows, the author examines the case for monotheistic religions versus polytheistic, concluding that the latter are antithetical to a God who is one. Left with a choice between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, he concludes that if God has communicated his guidance for living to any, it is most likely Judaism as recorded in the Hebrew scriptures. The question becomes, Which parts of those scriptures were intended for the children of Israel alone, and which were for all people for all time? Researching ever deeper, he reveals what he has come to believe about how God wants us to relate to him and the specific guidance that should be reworded for contemporary times. The spirit of Torah is so much more than the mere words.
