Download or read book Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves by Obstacles written by Gerhard Kristensson and published by IET. This book was released on 2016-07-26 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering is of fundamental importance to antenna and radar design engineering, and the increasing interest in metamaterials has created a need for new approaches to solving scattering problems for characterizing engineered media. This book lays the theoretical foundation for new computer programs in computational electromagnetics (CEM) and meets the need of today's researchers. This book represents over 30 years of the author's experience teaching this topic, with extensive lectures notes expanded to include advanced concepts and mathematical solutions to cover modern effects on metamaterials and related advanced complexities. Problems and solutions at the end of each chapter help to reinforce concepts and highlight applications. This is an ideal text for advanced graduate students and researchers in EM and applied physics.

Book Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves by Obstacles in the Presence of the Earth s Surface

Download or read book Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves by Obstacles in the Presence of the Earth s Surface written by Hung-Mou Lee and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The electromagnetic scattering from a geometrically fat tubular cylinder above a dissipative dielectric half-space has been investigated. Extensive experimental data were obtained and were found to be in agreement with theoretical results. The theory made use of an explicit analytical solution of the scattering from such a cylinder when in a single medium. Because the cylinder is a finite object with two variable geometrical parameters, it represents a very useful model for future experimental studies on the scattering from more complicated objects. Book Inverse Acoustic and Electromagnetic Scattering Theory

Download or read book Inverse Acoustic and Electromagnetic Scattering Theory written by David Colton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has now been almost ten years since our first book on scattering theory ap peared [32]. At that time we claimed that "in recent years the development of integral equation methods for the direct scattering problem seems to be nearing completion, whereas the use of such an approach to study the inverse scattering problem has progressed to an extent that a 'state of the art' survey appears highly desirable". Since we wrote these words, the inverse scattering problem for acoustic and electromagnetic waves has grown from being a few theoreti cal considerations with limited numerical implementations to a weH developed mathematical theory with tested numerical algorithms. This maturing of the field of inverse scattering theory has been based on the realization that such problems are in general not only nonlinear but also improperly posed in the sense that the solution does not depend continuously on the measured data. This was emphasized in [32] and treated with the ideas and tools available at that time. Now, almost ten years later, these initial ideas have developed to the extent that a monograph summarizing the mathematical basis of the field seems appropriate. This book is oUf attempt to write such a monograph. The inverse scattering problem for acoustic and electromagnetic waves can broadly be divided into two classes, the inverse obstacle problem and the inverse medium problem.

Book Electromagnetic Scattering and its Applications

Download or read book Electromagnetic Scattering and its Applications written by L. P. Bayvel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whenever a wave encounters an obstacle a number of processes occur. For large objects we envisage reflection and transmission with refraction and, in ·many cases, absorption. These phenomena can be described with the aid of ray tracing or geometrical optics, but they do not completely describe the interaction. Diffraction also occurs, and this can only be described by the properties of waves, wave optics. When the object is less than or of the order of the wavelength these processes cannot be so simply understood. The whole interaction is governed by wave optics, and the interactions are lumped together under the heading 'scattering'. Associated with the above there may be changes in frequency of the wave. This may arise due to the Doppler effect if the obstacle is moving or changing in time in any way. Also there can be changes in the energy of the object which must be matched by the wave, such as, for example, in the Raman effect.

Book Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves by Obstacles in the Presence of the Earth s Surface Current Distribution on Perfectly Conducting Cylindrical Loops in an Incident

Download or read book Scattering of Electromagnetic Waves by Obstacles in the Presence of the Earth s Surface Current Distribution on Perfectly Conducting Cylindrical Loops in an Incident written by T. T. Wu and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current distribution excited by an external field on a perfectly conducting cylindrical loop with zero thickness placed above the earth's surface with its axis normal to the earth is obtained. The case two coupled coaxial loops at different separations has also been solved. A variational principle is employed in the derivation. (Author).

Book Electromagnetic Wave Scattering on Nonspherical Particles

Download or read book Electromagnetic Wave Scattering on Nonspherical Particles written by Tom Rother and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-09-19 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a detailed overview of the theory of electromagnetic wave scattering on single, homogeneous, but nonspherical particles. Beside the systematically developed Green’s function formalism of the first edition this second and enlarged edition contains additional material regarding group theoretical considerations for nonspherical particles with boundary symmetries, an iterative T-matrix scheme for approximate solutions, and two additional but basic applications. Moreover, to demonstrate the advantages of the group theoretical approach and the iterative solution technique, the restriction to axisymmetric scatterers of the first edition was abandoned.
