Book Model ships with jet propulsion

Download or read book Model ships with jet propulsion written by Gerhard O. W. Fischer and published by Verlag für Technik und Handwerk. This book was released on with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: RC ship models with jet propulsion or water jet propulsion, as you can also say, have been around for many years, but unfortunately only a few model ship builders have familiarised themselves with this type of propulsion. Once you have read this book and seen the many illustrations of jet models, you will also be one of the jet-enthusiastic RC model ship builders. The author explains the technology and you will find that building a jet-powered RC model ship is no more difficult than building a model with conventional propulsion. Numerous pictures illustrate the construction and conversion of models, so that every beginner will be able to venture into building a jet-powered RC ship model. From the content: • How a jet propulsion system works • First model ship kits with jet propulsion • A company specialises in jet propulsion • Building instructions for RC ship models with jet propulsion • Jet models from Kehrer material sets • Model Ruban Bleu with one jet engine • Model Antipodean with two jet engines • Model SAR 33 with three jet drives • Other models with Kehrer jet drives • Model Motor Yacht Thor • Model HMCC Sentinel • Model Florida-Jet • Model Rapido 600-Jet • Experimental model Wave Explorer-Jet • Racing catamaran Powerkat-Jet • Pictures of some more Kehrer-Jet models • Multi Jet-Boat from Graupner

Book Model ships with steam propulsion

Download or read book Model ships with steam propulsion written by Thomas Hillenbrand and published by Verlag für Technik und Handwerk. This book was released on with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Next to railways, they are the epitome of historical technology: steamships. No wonder, then, that they also have a special appeal for model builders. To drive one's model not simply with an electric motor, but even more originally with a steam engine, is the dream of many technology fans. If the model then moves across the pond, trailing a plume of steam behind it, the enthusiasm is perfect! But how do you build such a model? What are the possibilities? Which models are suitable? These and many more questions are answered in detail by steamship specialist Thomas Hillenbrand in this book. In addition to the basics of technology and construction, he looks at various types of models, most of which he has successfully built himself - some of them very unusual constructions. The book concludes with an example of the construction of a steamship with a simple superstructure - an ideal introduction to this fascinating branch of model building. So, open the throttle and full steam ahead! From the content: • Some of the history of steam-powered ships and models • Steam as a source of power • The steam boiler • Some information about combustion and the firing of steam boilers • The different versions of the propulsion engine • Commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of the steam system • The propulsion systems of the steamship • Suitable models for steam propulsion • Installation of the steam system in the model • Presentation of different steamship models • Building the Steam Launch Presto

Download or read book Marine Propulsion Simulation written by Michele Martelli and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-01-29 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The propulsion system behaviour is a key aspect for the overall dynamics of a ship. However, despite its great importance, numerical methodologies for detailed investigations on marine propulsion dynamics are not yet widely covered in scientific literature. This book presents the main steps for the development of a multi-physic simulation platform, able to represent the motions of a twin screw ship in six degrees of freedom, taking into account the whole propulsion system and automation effects. A number of mathematical sub-models had been developed and calibrated by a set of experimental tests, in model and full scale. Finally, the sea trials campaign of a ship is used to validate and tune the developed simulator. The proposed simulation methodology can be used in the ship preliminary design phase, in order to plan and test the propulsion system and automation. Further applications can include the design optimization and crew training.
