The present study is preceded by a brief review of the existing research and literature on different aspects of air transportationin India and the world witha focus on matters like evolution, history, costs and revenues, pattern of traffic, demand and supply, safety and allied matters. This is followed by the discussion tracing the history and trends of civil aviation in India and also gives an account of various institutions both Indian and non-Indian working towards its healthy growth.
