Download or read book SAS SHARE 9 1 written by SAS Institute and published by Sas Inst. This book was released on 2004 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Find everything you need to know about how to use and manage SAS/SHARE! SAS/SHARE is a multi-user data server that enables two or more clients to share the same SAS file at the same time. It is run in an environment in which multiple clients need to read from and write to records in the same SAS data set. With this title, you will learn how to use the transparent access that SAS/SHARE provides to remote data located in SAS files or in external files, regardless of the data representation of the SAS file. You will also learn how to combine and filter data to obtain the most efficient use of network and computing resources. New features described in this guide include the network security protocol Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which encrypts data that is accessed between a client and a server; how a SAS/SHARE client that uses TCP/IP can identify a server by using a port number; and how a SAS/SHARE client can use an encoded password in any SAS/SHARE statement to identify the name of the node that the SAS/SHARE server runs on. Improved documentation about SAS system options that are relevant to SAS/SHARE, server log messages, and steps for creating the SAS/SHARE server environment under the UNIX and Windows operating environments is also included. This title is also available online. Supports releases 9.1 and higher of SAS software.

Book Communications Access Methods for SAS CONNECT 9 1 and SAS SHARE 9 1

Download or read book Communications Access Methods for SAS CONNECT 9 1 and SAS SHARE 9 1 written by SAS Institute and published by SAS Institute. This book was released on 2004 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communications access methods provide information to establish a connection between two operating environments across a network. This title is designed to be used in conjunction with the user's guides for SAS/CONNECT and SAS/SHARE. It provides you with the explicit steps needed for connecting two platforms, enabling you to access and manipulate data as desired. The easy-to-follow procedures are arranged by platform, access method, product, platform orientation (local host, remote host, client, server), and type of user. SAS 9.1 supports the TCP/IP, APPC, and XMS communications access methods for network connections with the z/OS, OpenVMS Alpha, UNIX, and Windows operating environments. SAS 9.1 also supports the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol that provides network security and privacy in Windows and UNIX operating environments. The DECnet, EHLLAPI, and NetBIOS communications access methods and the CMS, OpenVMS VAX, OS/2, and Windows 95 and Windows 98 operating environments are no longer supported. This title is also available online. This title is written for applications developers, system administrators, network administrators, and end users who use SAS/CONNECT and SAS/SHARE software. Supports releases 9.1 and higher of SAS software.

Book Moving and Accessing SAS 9 1 Files

Download or read book Moving and Accessing SAS 9 1 Files written by SAS Institute and published by Sas Inst. This book was released on 2004 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover how you can choose from among multiple strategies to easily move or access SAS(R) files across operating environments. In this guide you learn how to use CEDA, the preferred strategy for file access across a network. CEDA enables you to transparently read a network-mounted SAS file from any directory-based operating environment that runs SAS Version 8 or later, regardless of the file format of the SAS file; dynamically convert data between the native formats of the source and target operating environments; and change the SAS file to the format of the accessing operating environment. You can also learn how to use the traditional method of moving a SAS file across operating environments by creating a transport file that will be restored at the target machine to transfer across a network. PROC CPORT, PROC CIMPORT, PROC COPY, and the XPORT engine are used to accomplish a traditional move operation. Starting in SAS 9, another method of moving a SAS data set across operating environments is to use the XML engine to convert the file to an XML document. At the target machine, the data can be restored as a SAS data set for continued access. The information presented in this title does not apply to SAS releases prior to 6.07. This title is also available online. Supports releases 9.1 and higher of SAS software.
