This book was released on 2015-05-18 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam selected and compiled some of his best poems and lyrics in a volume and named it as 'Sanchita'- the selected poems and lyrics. Those resourceful poems and lyrics in 'Sanchita' uphold human dignity, religious harmony, truth, beauty, pain and love. His poems validated the philosophy of human values and social justice. The superb poetic excellence is manifested in every page of 'Sanchita'-the masterpiece of literature. Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam captured the theme of love and humanity in the poems that readily demonstrated his feelings for the mankind, his rebelliousness against injustice and his emotions as a lover for his beloved in concrete and sublime form. The Poet gave the impression of being so romantic in his feelings and emotions. He merged himself with the beauteous hills, forests, birds, mountains, rivers and seas around him and expressed his feelings of happiness and pain as if he is a part of the nature by being a true lover. The philosophy of universal equality of mankind reflects very much on the center theme of his poems. He urged to all mankind to amalgamate the differences and hindrances that exist in the religion and society and bring them at one confluence of equality. As he wrote, wisdom of equality lies in the heart, not in the scriptures of religions.

Prophetic in foresight and universal in scope, this book lays out a path to the peaceful existence of all humans based on the central theme of worshipping the One God. It is not surprising therefore that A Message of Peace forms the last work of a man who was destined to lay the foundation for the establishment of peace in this day and age and whose advent was prophesied in all major religions of the world-the Promised Messiah and Reformer of the Latter Days. Download or read book Broken Meditation written by Mustofa Munir and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-10-08 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broken meditation has produced poems of love in a sentimental and idealized way to bring the themes of true love, pain, happiness, spirituality and a joyous submission of the mind. Loneliness, rejection, hope and pain all came together in those love poems in the book. Here love is defined as pure and lofty though we find love is arduous and resentful...yet it wanders from one soul to another. In the poem 'An untamed Sway'- there was once rhythm, everything was lively with swinging braids of his beloved, now the door, the window and the shadow of the corridor do not jingle anymore. Now her song has become an illusory call of the night to him. The poem 'Blossomed with soft shyness'- described the lover as indomitable, he vanquished his beloved with love and saw her nearby him with her petal-soft shyness. In 'Broken meditation' -a devoted, meditating lover found his sweet heart like a mountain-daughter. She appeared before him with her chignon adorned with flowers. Her soul is pure like the tranquility of a mountain. Spiritual benefits of the soul develop from the soul's true preparation in this world. We are floating in the time through a continuous phenomenon of physical and physiological transformation-we are aging as time rolls by into its endless goal. In the poem 'My silence'- a lover's silence is not to suffocate his beloved sweet heart but to permeate the warmth of silence into her- silence could be a melodious song she might love it and that silence echoes with thousand words in her heart. When an outburst of sentiment, emotion and bereavement from our everyday life together with love are diffused in a poem then it becomes a love poem. I hope all these fifty poems in this book will reach the readers' mind with both despondency and joyfulness of life mingled with love, estrangement, despair and rebelliousness.

Book Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan

Download or read book Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan written by Toru Dutt and published by Graphic Arts Books. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan (1882) is a collection of poems by Toru Dutt. Compiled after her death and published in London, Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan is an invaluable work of art from a pioneering figure in Indian history and Bengali literature. Born in Calcutta to a family of Bengali Christians, Toru Dutt was raised at the crossroads of English and Indian cultures. In addition to her native Bengali, she became fluent in English, French, and Sanskrit as a young girl, eventually writing novels and poems in each language. Despite her limited body of work, Dutt’s legacy as a groundbreaking writer remains firm in India and around the world. “Savitri was the only child / Of Madra's wise and mighty king; / Stern warriors, when they saw her, smiled, / As mountains smile to see the spring.” In rhyming English verse, Bengali poet Toru Dutt presents some of the oldest and most sacred stories from ancient India. Translated from Sanskrit into the popular ballad form, Dutt introduces an English audience to the story of Savitri, originally from the epic Mahabharata, as well as the tale of Lakshman, which comes from the Hindu epic Ramayana. Alongside these poems appear Dutt’s versions of Bengali folklore—“Joghadhya Uma”—and poems written during her stay in Europe. “Near Hastings” is a particularly beautiful example of her original verse depicting an otherworldly encounter along the English seacoast: “Near Hastings, on the shingle-beach, / We loitered at the time / When ripens on the wall the peach, / The autumn's lovely prime.” With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Toru Dutt’s Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan is a classic work of Bengali literature reimagined for modern readers.

Book excerpt: The First Promise is a translation of Ashapurna Debi s novel, Pratham Pratisruti, originally published in Bengali in 1964. Celebrated as one of the most popular and path-breaking novels of its time, it has received continual critical acclaim: the Rabindra Puraskar (the Tagore Prize) in 1966 and the Bharitiya Jnanpith, India s highest literary award, in 1977. Spanning the late eighteenth and early twentieth centuries, Ashapurna tells the story of the struggles and efforts of women in nineteenth-century, colonial Bengal in a deceptively easy and conversational style. The charming eight-year old heroine, Satyabati is a child bride who leaves her husband s village for Calcutta, the capital of British India where she is caught in the social dynamics of women s education, social reform agendas, modern medicine and urban entertainment. As she makes her way through this complex maze, making sense of the rapidly changing world around her, Satyabati nurtures hopes and aspirations for her daughter. But the promises held out by modernity turn out to be empty, instigating Satyabati to break away from her inherited world and initiate a quest that takes her to the very heart of tradition.
