Book Optimal Sampled Data Control Systems

Download or read book Optimal Sampled Data Control Systems written by Tongwen Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the many techniques for designing linear multivariable analogue controllers, the two most popular optimal ones are H2 and H-infinity optimization. The fact that most new industrial controllers are digital provides strong motivation for adapting or extending these techniques to digital control systems. This book, now available as a corrected reprint, attempts to do so. Part I presents two indirect methods of sampled-data controller design: These approaches include approximations to a real problem, which involves an analogue plant, continuous-time performance specifications, and a sampled-data controller. Part II proposes a direct attack in the continuous-time domain, where sampled-data systems are time-varying. The findings are presented in forms that can readily be programmed in, e.g., MATLAB.

Book Adaptive Sampling Frequency for Sampled data Control Systems

Download or read book Adaptive Sampling Frequency for Sampled data Control Systems written by Merritt C. Farren and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sampled-data control systems generally have fixed sampling frequencies which must be set high enough to give satisfactory performance for all anticipated conditions. A study is made here of an adaptive system which varies the sampling frequency by measuring a system parameter. It is shown that a sampler followed by a zero-order hold whose sampling period is controlled by the absolute value of the first derivative of the error signal will be a more 'efficient' sampler than a fixed frequency sampler. That is, over a given time interval, fewer samples are needed with the variable frequency system than with a fixed frequency system while maintaining essentially the same response characteristics. The system described reduced the number of samples required for response to a step input to about three-quarters that required in a fixed sampling frequency system. Over a long period of time, savings in the number of samples required can be expected to be between twenty-five and fifty per cent. In many applications, the saving produced by reducing the overall number of samples required may outweigh the added complexity of the adaptive sampling frequency system. (Author).

Book Sampling in Digital Signal Processing and Control

Download or read book Sampling in Digital Signal Processing and Control written by Arie Feuer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Undoubtably one of the key factors influencing recent technology has been the advent of high speed computational tools. Virtually every advanced engi neering system we come in contact with these days depends upon some form of sampling and digital signal processing. Well known examples are digital tele phone systems, digital recording of audio signals and computer control. These developments have been matched by the appearance of a plethora of books which explain a variety of analysis, synthesis and design tools applica ble to sampled-data systems. The reader might therefore wonder what is distinc tive about the current book. Our observation of the existing literature is that the underlying continuous-time system is usually forgotten once the samples are tak en. The alternative point of view, adopted in this book, is to formulate the analy sis in such a way that the user is constantly reminded of the presence of the under lying continuous-time signals. We thus give emphasis to two aspects of sampled-data analysis: Firstly, we formulate the various algorithms so that the appropriate contin uous-time case is approached as the sampling rate increases. Secondly we place emphasis on the continuous-time output response rath er than simply focusing on the sampled response.

Book Control Engineering

Download or read book Control Engineering written by László Keviczky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-04 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers fundamental information on the analysis and synthesis of continuous and sampled data control systems. It includes all the required preliminary materials (from mathematics, signals and systems) that are needed in order to understand control theory, so readers do not have to turn to other textbooks. Sampled data systems have recently gained increasing importance, as they provide the basis for the analysis and design of computer-controlled systems. Though the book mainly focuses on linear systems, input/output approaches and state space descriptions are also provided. Control structures such as feedback, feed forward, internal model control, state feedback control, and the Youla parameterization approach are discussed, while a closing section outlines advanced areas of control theory. Though the book also contains selected examples, a related exercise book provides Matlab/Simulink exercises for all topics discussed in the textbook, helping readers to understand the theory and apply it in order to solve control problems. Thanks to this combination, readers will gain a basic grasp of systems and control, and be able to analyze and design continuous and discrete control systems.

Book A Survey of Techniques for the Analysis of Sampled data Systems with a Variable Sampling Rate

Download or read book A Survey of Techniques for the Analysis of Sampled data Systems with a Variable Sampling Rate written by George A. Bekey and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several techniques are presented for the analysis of sampled-data systems with a non-constant sampling period. The application of z-transform techniques is limited to cases where the sampling pattern repeats periodically; Several special cases, including the cyclically-varying sampling period and the skipped-sample problem are outlined. The most general methods available are based on a direct solution of the system difference equations. These equations, while time consuming, do make possible the evaluation of transient response sample-by-sample. The advantages, limitations and possible extensions of the various methods are outlined. A number of simple examples and an extensive bibliography are included.

Book Sampled Data Models for Linear and Nonlinear Systems

Download or read book Sampled Data Models for Linear and Nonlinear Systems written by Juan I. Yuz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-10-17 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sampled-data Models for Linear and Nonlinear Systems provides a fresh new look at a subject with which many researchers may think themselves familiar. Rather than emphasising the differences between sampled-data and continuous-time systems, the authors proceed from the premise that, with modern sampling rates being as high as they are, it is becoming more appropriate to emphasise connections and similarities. The text is driven by three motives: · the ubiquity of computers in modern control and signal-processing equipment means that sampling of systems that really evolve continuously is unavoidable; · although superficially straightforward, sampling can easily produce erroneous results when not treated properly; and · the need for a thorough understanding of many aspects of sampling among researchers and engineers dealing with applications to which they are central. The authors tackle many misconceptions which, although appearing reasonable at first sight, are in fact either partially or completely erroneous. They also deal with linear and nonlinear, deterministic and stochastic cases. The impact of the ideas presented on several standard problems in signals and systems is illustrated using a number of applications. Academic researchers and graduate students in systems, control and signal processing will find the ideas presented in Sampled-data Models for Linear and Nonlinear Systems to be a useful manual for dealing with sampled-data systems, clearing away mistaken ideas and bringing the subject thoroughly up to date. Researchers in statistics and economics will also derive benefit from the reworking of ideas relating a model derived from data sampling to an original continuous system.
