Though these discussions focus on the pre-and-post ascension mediatorial role of Jesus, there has been minimal attention paid to "intercession" as the present mediatorial task of Jesus in heaven. In this volume, Abeneazer G. Urga examines the background and nature of Jesus' heavenly intercession in the Epistle to the Hebrews. He demonstrates that the author of Hebrews has primarily depended on the LXX and some texts of the New Testament - while remaining cognizant of the theme of intercession in Second Temple Literature - in the formulation of the motif of Jesus' high priestly intercession. Urga also argues that Jesus' heavenly intercession is vocalis et realis , and that his intercession is made in order to procure help and the forgiveness of sin for God's people in their time of need.

Rodowick applies the concept of “the figural” to a variety of philosophical and aesthetic issues. Inspired by the aesthetic philosophy of Jean-François Lyotard, the figural defines a semiotic regime where the distinction between linguistic and plastic representation breaks down. This opposition, which has been the philosophical foundation of aesthetics since the eighteenth century, has been explicitly challenged by the new electronic, televisual, and digital media. Rodowick—one of the foremost film theorists writing today—contemplates this challenge, describing and critiquing the new regime of signs and new ways of thinking that such media have inaugurated. To fully comprehend the emergence of the figural requires a genealogical critique of the aesthetic, Rodowick claims. This collection is the first to explore this important issue in contemporary task-based, immersion, and communicative pedagogic settings. Works of self-writing were usually printed under the title of "memoirs" and have been often considered a uniform genre. These early forms of self-writing were in fact highly heterogenous works at the crossroads of multiple genres, from the account book to the astrological diary. Their writing, printing, and circulation challenge modern notions of autobiographical genres: their authorship is often questionable and collective, and they tended to be compiled in large collections for political ends, without regard to the authors' intention.
