Book Saga of the Devil and God s Love for Redemptive Plan for Mankind

Download or read book Saga of the Devil and God s Love for Redemptive Plan for Mankind written by Robert L. Shepherd and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-24 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives the history of Lucifer, an archangel who God created as a gifted leader of magnificent beauty and light; who exalted himself with pride and attempted a rebellion in heaven to usurp God's throne. It goes on to tell how the devil deceived Adam and Eve; creatures whom God had made in His own image and given dominion of the planet earth. Lucifer, being more subtle than any creature, enticed mankind to sin and submit their authority and power to him; thus severing man's relationship with God. God wanted man back because He loved His creation. So He activated a plan for man's redemption in Genesis 3:15. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life." To redeem mankind back to Himself, God's love propelled him to sacrifice Jesus; his only begotten son on a rugged Roman cross. This book is about an ongoing epic battle between God and the devil: good and evil; love and hate. Ultimately LOVE will win.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How we perceive our enemy will largely determine how we fight against him. Unless we grasp how the devil fits into God's scheme of things, we will find it difficult to stand against his conspiracy against us personally and his influence within our culture. We can have a proper theology of the devil only if we have a proper theology of God. Only when we stand in awe of God will we find it unnecessary to be in awe of Satan. As Martin Luther once said, 'The devil is God's devil.' God is still in control. The Serpent of Paradise gives an overview of the career of Satan and his interaction with the Almighty. It traces his fall from an exalted position to his demise in everlasting shame and contempt. It shows us that Satan always loses even when 'he wins.' Best of all, it confirms that we who have been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light are able to stand against him. Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. ~ Ephesians 6:10-11 NIV. The Serpent of Paradise is a book about Satan, but it is also a book about God's power, God's program, and God's purposes in this world.

Book A Cosmic Battle But The War is Won

Download or read book A Cosmic Battle But The War is Won written by Lane Weldon and published by . This book was released on 2024-05-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Cosmic Battle: But The War is Won, is about the battle between God and the Devil. This battle began raging, starting in Genesis 3:15 with the prophecy about the seed of the woman. The "Seed" being the Jewish Messiah and our Savior, Jesus Christ. The battles are to prevent the Seed of the Woman from being born and is laid out for us in this book in six different narratives found in the pages of the bible. What is seen through all these battles taking place is the sovereignty of God. While each attempt by the Devil may do some damage, it all works out for the purposes of God in His redemptive plan for mankind. On the cross, the Devil will bruise Him on the heel, but Jesus Christ will triumph over the grave at His resurrection and crush the head of the Serpent. The war is won.

Book VOLUME II THE CREATION OF MORMONISM JOSEPH SMITH JR IN THE 1820S

Download or read book VOLUME II THE CREATION OF MORMONISM JOSEPH SMITH JR IN THE 1820S written by JOHN J HAMMOND and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-07-27 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Volume II of an epic, multi-volume work entitled The Quest for the New Jerusalem: A Mormon Generational Saga, which combines family, Mormon, and American history, focusing upon how the author’s ancestors were affected by their conversion to the Mormon religion. In Volume I, four of the author’s ancestral families—the Carters, Hammonds, Knowltons, and Spencer’s—and the ancestors of Mormon Church founders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, are followed from the time they enter the Massachusetts Bay Colony in New England in the 1600s down to the early 1800s. Their private lives are described, as well as how they are affected by such events and situations as King Philip’s War, the Salem Witch Trials, the institution of black slavery, the French and Indian War, and the American Revolution. Toward the end of Volume I, the focus is upon Joseph Smith and his family, including their move from Vermont to western New York, their religious and “magic world views,” the latter involving astrology, ritual magic, and treasure-seer and treasure-digging activities. Volume II takes up the narrative at about the year 1820, and involves a detailed, comprehensive, and critical look at the events in the life of Joseph Smith, Jr., during the decade in which he purportedly was visited by numerous heavenly messengers, received the “golden plates,” translated the writing on the plates to produce the Book of Mormon, received priesthood authority from other heavenly messengers, published the Book of Mormon, and organized the Mormon/LDS Church. Making use of the most recent historical research, the author tackles the controversial issues surrounding the First Vision (the supposed appearance to Joseph Jr. of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ in 1820), the Second Vision (1823 to 1827) which produced the Book of Mormon, and the Third Vision (late 1820s or early 1830s) which involved the “restoration” of priesthood authority. The author looks at original sources/documents and also compares the perspectives of major loyal Mormon, non-Mormon, and ex-Mormon scholars on these controversial questions. There is a discussion of the serious lack of congruence between how Joseph Smith, Jr., described these events “officially” after 1837, and what was being said by the Smith family, their neighbors, early Mormon converts, and by newspaper accounts during the 1820s and early 1830s. There is, for example, no mention of a First Vision for at least twelve years after it supposedly occurred, and there are several conflicting versions of it by Joseph Jr. in the 1830s, once he started talking about it. Primary focus, however, is upon what the author collectively calls the Second Vision, which purportedly involved multiple visitations by an angel/spirit between 1823 and 1827. It was from this heavenly messenger that Joseph Jr. obtained “golden plates,” and the Book of Mormon was, he maintained, a “translation” by him of the ancient American writings on these plates. There is a thorough examination of the complex and contentious issues surrounding the origin of the Book of Mormon, and several chapters look closely at the evidence regarding its “authenticity”—the question whether it was written by Joseph Jr. or by ancient American prophets/scribes. The author also thoroughly discusses the “testimony” in the Book of Mormon of the Three Witnesses and Eight Witnesses, and offers an alternative narrative regarding what really transpired with Joseph Jr. during the 1820s. Later in Volume II several chapters look at how Mormon Church organization went through a significant evolution during its earliest years, moving against the American democratic grain toward an increasingly centralized, authoritarian structure. There is a detailed look at Joseph Jr.’s claims regarding a “restoration” of priesthood authority during the late 1820s and early 1830s, and the considerable controver

Book Ascent from Darkness

Download or read book Ascent from Darkness written by Michael Leehan and published by Thomas Nelson Inc. This book was released on 2011-10-04 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The redemptive story of one man's agonizing journey from the depths of Satanism to a radical new life in Christ. A life of difficulty and disappointment set 33-three year old Michael Leehan up for the worst decision of his life—to make a deal with the Devil to follow and serve him. Practicing the dark arts that include ritualistic cuttings and blood sacrifices, while fine tuning his manipulation and control skills, Michael launched into a twenty year downward spiral that included job loss and detachment from loved ones, and even jail time. But God had another plan that included a group of Christian men to love him and pray for him—even when it became evident his assignment from Satan was to kill their pastor, Craig Groeschel. The life Michael Leehan lives today is an incredible testimony of the transforming power of God's mercy and grace, but is also a wakeup call to the church to be fully aware of the spiritual war that is going on all around them, and to the ultimate battle for their souls. "I am sending you to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me." Acts 26:18

Book Bringing the Gospel Home

Book excerpt: Sharing the gospel with a family member can be an exciting experience—and often a long, painful, and confrontational one. Randy Newman recognizes it can be more difficult and frustrating to witness to a family member than to nearly anyone else. In Bringing the Gospel Home, he delivers practical, holistic strategies to help average Christians engage family members and others on topics of faith. A messianic Jew who has led several family members to Christ, Newman urges Christians to look to the Bible before they evangelize. He writes, "a richer understanding of biblical truth, I have found, can provide a firmer foundation for bold witness and clear communication." After a brief introduction on the nature of family, he delves into discussions of grace, truth, love, humility, and time. He also addresses issues related to eternity and end-of-life conversations. Bringing the Gospel Home will help any Christian as he seeks to guide loved ones into God's family.

Download or read book Washed and Waiting written by Wesley Hill and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2010-09-21 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book written primarily for gay Christians and those who love them. Part memoir, part pastoral-theological reflection, this book wrestles with three main areas of struggle that many gay Christians face: (1) What is God’s will for sexuality? (2) If the historic Christian tradition is right and same-sex behavior is ruled out, how should gay Christians deal with their resulting loneliness? (3) How can gay Christians come to an experience of grace that rescues them from crippling feelings of shame and guilt? Author Wesley Hill is not advocating that it is possible for every gay Christian to become straight, nor is he saying that God affirms homosexuality. Instead, Hill comes alongside gay Christians and says, “You are not alone. Here is my experience; it’s like yours. And God is with us. We can share in God’s grace.” While some authors profess a deep faith in Christ and claim a powerful experience of the Holy Spirit precisely in and through their homosexual practice, Hill’s own story, by contrast, is a story of feeling spiritually hindered, rather than helped, by his homosexuality. His story testifies that homosexuality was not God’s original creative intention for humanity—that it is, on the contrary, a tragic sign of human nature and relationships being fractured by sin—and therefore that homosexual practice goes against God’s express will for all human beings, especially those who trust in Christ. This book is written mainly for those homosexual Christians who are trying to walk the narrow path of celibacy and are convinced that their discipleship to Jesus necessarily commits them to the demanding, costly obedience of choosing not to nurture their homosexual desires. With reflections from the lives of Henri Nouwen and Gerard Manley Hopkins, Wesley Hill encourages and challenges Christians with homosexual desires to live faithful to God’s plan for human sexuality.

Then I want you to stay out of this battle. One of us has to survive for the sake of the children." But Lissa could not let David stand alone. Secretly, she set out to save him. But could two people really make a difference in what was happening? They didn't know, but they had to try. Armed only with faith and courage, David and Lissa stood up to the United States military and fought for justice. The legal results of their battle protect our troops to this day. This is the true story of an honor that could not be uprooted, a faith that would not fail, and a love that did not fear death. "Years ago, we at ABC reported this story. Now, though the names have been changed to protect the innocent, here are the chilling details behind that account, told by Lissa Hausen-McCloud, wife of Dr. David McCloud." -Sam Donaldson, ABC News Correspondent
