Now, she's shunned by humans and faeries alike, reduced to hunting troublemaking fae beasts to pay the bills and trying to convince her landlord not to kick out the traumatised teenage death faerie who's moved into her room. When a serial killer starts picking off the local faeries, Holly's hopes of lying low are shattered. A local half-fae detective takes an interest in the case, and he seems to think Holly can help him solve it. The slight problem? Puck is a descendent of the notorious Robin Goodfellow, the master prankster from the Summer Court and sworn enemy of the Unseelie. If he finds out Holly's past, she can say goodbye to keeping her former vow to the Winter Court a secret. With the clues to the killer's identity pointing directly to Faerie itself, though, Holly finds herself in a dilemma. She knows better than to make bargains with the fae, but to solve the murders and stop the killer's rampage, she might have no choice in the matter… Wild Magic is the first in an urban fantasy trilogy set in the bestselling Changeling Chronicles universe, featuring a reluctant heroine, a gripping mystery, and fast-paced magical action. Book Salvation As a Mechanical Process

Download or read book Salvation As a Mechanical Process written by Richard E. Davies and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-02-14 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians have been taught that Jesus died on the cross to pay a fine or ransom to expiate or atone for our sins. Furthermore, they have been taught that the death of Jesus is the only way individuals can receive eternal salvation. In general, this notion is called the "doctrine of blood atonement" or "penal substitution," or some similar name. One reason for this teaching is that the development of Newtonian mechanics has led us to believe that God's "laws of salvation" must be as easy to understand as the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century "laws" of our physical world. This book demonstrates that there are alternatives for understanding Jesus' execution that are consistent with the twentieth- and twenty-first-century understanding of our physical world. In fact, the early Christian writers (including the Bible itself) described these alternatives. "Sacrifice" was only one form of the early Christian narrative explaining the death of Jesus. Although "blood atonement" was understandable in ancient Roman culture, it is not understandable in our culture. The inevitable conclusion is that we should abandon "blood atonement" and develop one of the alternative ways of understanding the cosmic significance of Jesus' execution.

Using the worlds of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, A Game of Thrones, and Dungeons & Dragons as models, this book guides readers through a step-by-step process of building sprawling fictional worlds complete with competing social forces that have complex histories and yet are always evolving. It also shows readers how to populate a catalog with hundreds of unique people, places, and things that grow organically from their world, which become a rich repository of story making potential.
