Esta guía contiene el conjunto de factores de riesgo más relevantes que anticipan la violencia contra la pareja. Está construida de un modo que su uso en la predicción futura de violencia es sencillo y simplemente requiere un entrenamiento específico en su aplicación. Está adaptada para que puedan emplearla cotidianamente tanto psicólogos como psiquiatras, trabajadores sociales, policías y todos aquellos técnicos que se ocupan de la gestión del riesgo de la violencia contra la pareja y otros tipos de violencia familiar

En ella se describen los fundamentos empíricos de la metodología y los aspectos técnicos que deben tenerse en cuenta al administrar las indicaciones del manual en contextos profesionales (sociosanitarios, forenses, jurídicos y correccionales), y también se presentan líneas nuevas de investigación que ayudarán a mejorar la gestión de la violencia contra la pareja.
