This study is ethnographic and the researcher lived in Amathole District in the Eastern Province for more than three years. The researcher established that dealing with the poverty in the district is a complex matter that calls for a deep involvement of the various stakeholders in the country. This study would benefit policy makers, development studies practitioners, researchers, and academics interested in rural development.
