Book Rule Based Integration of Web Services Into Semantic Data Bases

Download or read book Rule Based Integration of Web Services Into Semantic Data Bases written by Jochen Gruber and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2007-08 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Computer Science - Internet, New Technologies, grade: 1,1, University of Hagen (Institut f r Informatik), language: English, abstract: Details of a semantic annotation are outlined, both for the semantic model consisting of concepts to model the area of discourse as well as the individual model for a single service. The annotation is used to build a concrete implementation of a generic processing framework translating the annotation of a service into rules to be integrated into an OWL knowledge base rule engine. The realization is done for the Jena Semantic Web Framework, an open source library for Semantic Web application for the Java language. The realization is designed as an add-on to Jena which integrates service calls in such a way that service invocation is transparent to applications building on Jena. A discussion on optimizations, both implemented ones and realizable but not implemented ones is included. They can serve as starting points for moving the implementation from a proof of concept status to real world usability. The section finishes with some considerations on general run-time behavior. Finally the presented framework is evaluated in more detail: Firstly, a sophisticated scenario for the running example is described and shown, how automated service selection, composition and invocation is actually realized during run-time. Then the approach is evaluated with regard to services with more complex parameterizations with particular focus on the data supplied to the services and the rules generated from such complex parameterized services and whether such rules are still usable. The prime design rationale of the presented framework implementation is as a proof of concept for the approach of generically integrating Web Services as rules with Semantic knowledge bases. Therefore there is still a long way to go for a real world application to be build on the framework. At several points notes are added

Book Rule Interchange and Applications

Download or read book Rule Interchange and Applications written by Adrian Paschke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-10-15 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2009 International Symposium on Rule Interchange and Applications (RuleML 2009), collocated in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the 12th International Business Rules Forum, was the premier place to meet and to exchange ideas from all ?elds of rules technologies. The aims of RuleML 2009 were both to present new and interesting research results and to show successfully deployed rule-basedapplications.This annualsymposium is the ?agshipevent of the Rule Markup and Modeling Initiative (RuleML). The RuleML Initiative (www.ruleml.org) is a non-pro?t umbrella organi- tion of several technical groups organized by representatives from academia, industry and public sectors working on rule technologies and applications. Its aim is to promote the study, research and application of rules in heterogeneous distributed environments such as the Web. RuleML maintains e?ective links with other major international societies and acts as intermediary between v- ious ‘specialized’ rule vendors, applications, industrial and academic research groups, as well as standardization e?orts from, for example, W3C, OMG, and OASIS. To emphasize the importance of rule standards RuleML 2009 featured, besides a number of tutorials on various rule aspects, a tutorial and a workshop dedicated to the newly released W3C Rule Interchange Format (RIF).

Book Database and Expert Systems Applications

Download or read book Database and Expert Systems Applications written by Heinrich C. Mayr and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 1010 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: th DEXA 2001, the 12 International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications was held on September 3–5, 2001, at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. The rapidly growing spectrum of database applications has led to the establishment of more specialized discussion platforms (DaWaK conference, EC Web conference, and DEXA workshop), which were all held in parallel with the DEXA conference in Munich. In your hands are the results of much effort, beginning with the preparation of the submitted papers. The papers then passed through the reviewing process, and the accepted papers were revised to final versions by their authors and arranged with the conference program. All this culminated in the conference itself. A total of 175 papers were submitted to this conference, and I would like to thank all the authors. They are the real base of the conference. The program committee and the supporting reviewers produced altogether 497 referee reports, on average of 2.84 reports per paper, and selected 93 papers for presentation. Comparing the weight or more precisely the number of papers devoted to particular topics at several recent DEXA conferences, an increase can be recognized in the areas of XMS databases, active databases, and multi and hypermedia efforts. The space devoted to the more classical topics such as information retrieval, distribution and Web aspects, and transaction, indexing and query aspects has remained more or less unchanged. Some decrease is visible for object orientation.

Book Advanced Information Systems Engineering

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TheexplosivegrowthoftheInternetandtheWebhavecreatedanever-growing demand for information systems, and ever-growing challenges for Information Systems Engineering. The series of Conferences on Advanced Information S- tems Engineering (CAiSE) was launched in Scandinavia by Janis Bubenko and Arne Solvberg in 1989, became an important European conference, and was held annually in major European sites throughout the 1990s. Now, in its 14th year,CAiSEwasheldforthe?rsttimeoutsideEurope, showcasinginternational researchon information systems and their engineering. Not surprisingly, this year the conference enjoyed unprecedented attention. In total, the conference received 173 paper submissions, the highest number ever for a CAiSE conference. Of those, 42 were accepted as regular papers and 26 as short (poster) papers. In addition, the conference received 12 proposals for workshops of which 8 were approved, while 4 tutorials were selected from 15 submissions. The technical program was put together by an international committee of 81 experts. In total, 505 reviews were submitted, with every member of the committeecontributing.Decisionsonallsubmissionswerereachedataprogram committee meeting in Toronto on January 26-27,2002. Workshop and tutorial proposals were handled separately by committees chaired by Patrick Martin (workshops), and Jarek Gryz and Richard Paige (tutorials). We wish to extend a great “THANK YOU!” to all members of the program and organizing committees for their volunteer contributions of time and exp- tise. The fact that so many busy (and famous!) people took the trouble to help uswiththeorganizationofthisconferenceandtheformationofitstechnicalp- gram speaks well for the future of CAiSE and the ?eld of Information Systems Engineering.
