Book The Pacing mustang Illustrated edition

Download or read book The Pacing mustang Illustrated edition written by Ernest Thompson Seton and published by Strelbytskyy Multimedia Publishing. This book was released on 2018-02-28 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tales of animals are not accidentally so loved in many countries by adults and children. The heroes of the stories written by the famous Canadian writer Ernest Thompson Seton, and among them stands out for its originality the "The Pacing Mustang", are animals and birds. However, often their life and behavior are more exalted and noble than that of people. A beautiful black mustang was a pacer, that is, when running, he moved first both right legs, then both left. The Mustang took home mares with him and they eventually got used to the wild life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Early one bright June morning, not long ago, a high knoll of a prairie in southern New Mexico was occupied as it had never been before. Rattlesnakes had coiled there; prairie-dog sentinels and wolves and antelopes, and even grim old buffalo bulls, had used that swelling mound for a lookout station. Mountains in the distance and a great sweep of the plains could be seen from it. Never until that hour, however, since the grass began to grow, had precisely such a horse pawed and fretted there, while precisely such a boy sat in the saddle and looked around. It is very uncommon for a mustang to show a bright and perfect blood bay color, but this one did so, and it seemed as if the glossy beauty of his coat only brought out the perfection of his shape and the easy grace of his movements. He was a fiery, powerful fellow, and he appeared to have some constitutional objection to standing still. The saddle upon his back and the bridle held by his rider were of the best Mexican workmanship, silver mounted, the very thing to complete the elegance of the red mustang.

Book Once Upon A Time in the Past

Download or read book Once Upon A Time in the Past written by Earnest "Tex" Sims Sr. and published by Author House. This book was released on 2010-06-29 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In three books I tried to capture all aspects of the Old West—the rowdy towns, saloons, prostitutes, homesteaders, cattle ranchers, cattle rustlers, cattle drives, stampedes, canvas-covered wagons, wagon trains, wild horses, cowboys, Indians, miners and prospectors, fur traders, claimjumpers, sheriffs, outlaws, gunfighters, railroads and trains, stagecoaches, banks and holdups, love, life, and death—when I wrote the trilogy of “Once Upon A Time In The Past”. Book One of Once Upon A Time in the Past, subtitled “The Sons Of Sam Logan”—involves four young boys, Chance William, Burt Wiley, Peter Wallace and Jesse Lee “Boots” Logan, a black youth who adopts the Logan name, who grows up and become outlaws—opens circa 1890 in Payton, Kansas: Rancher Clay Miller sat behind his desk staring at four miniature porcelain horses: a black and white piebald; black, white-rump appaloosa; golden palomino with a white blazed face; and a black stallion with a diamond-shaped white dot on its forehead. The rancher’s eyes then stared down at a necklace made with pure gold nuggets wedged together on a long string of rawhide-leather with a black, genuine Indian arrowhead at the end. He reached down and picked the necklace up. A shadow of sudden gloominess crossed his face as he gazed at the necklace. A finger fiddled unconsciously with the arrowhead dangling at the end of it, as he held the necklace in his hands, staring into space. The necklace brought back memories of the past—good times and bad times. His thoughts wiggled and waggled as his recollections took him back into time long before he was a man:

Book Phantom Mustang

Book excerpt: The setting of this story is in 1946, during the aftermath of World War II (WWII), near the town of Mill Creek, Utah. It encompasses several chapters of mystery, drama, adventure, and romance-involving mainly the homecoming of a local war hero, a beautiful newspaper reporter, and a legendary wild mustang. The story begins with the war hero returning home and then the planning and capture of a wild mustang in a secluded valley inhabited by mustangs, cattle, menacing and ferocious cougars. Included in the story are the many problems, sacrifices, and hardships involved in the capture and training of a legendary wild mustang for a special esteemed yet perilous cowboy cross-country endurance race. The almost unachievable dream of a beautiful woman in becoming the first woman to ever win a prestigious cowboy cross-country endurance race on a self-trained legendary wild mustang. There is an unforgettable, dangerous, and adventurous, although thrilling, two-week-long family cattle roundup in the secluded valley. The story emphasizes the simmering romance between the war hero and the beautiful journalist. Then too there is the mystifying special treatment by the US Army of some German Nazis, citizens being comforted in the aftermath of WWII in Mill Creek, Utah. The secret lodging of the Germans on a known deserted ranch bordering the valley is of grave concern to the war hero and the dedicated journalist. The Army's refusal to admit any knowledge of Nazism at the ranch could imply national security uncertainties. The story divulges the complicatedness of the young and dedicated journalist, wavering between her community responsibilities as a newspaper reporter and her patriotic duties as an American citizen. Faithfully dedicated to the belief all American citizens are inherently entitled to the truth, while realizing the disclosure of any German Nazi activity at the ranch could be detrimental to national security, is a subject of urgent scrutiny for the patriotic reporter and local war hero. National, state, and local community issues are of crucial trepidations to all citizens; however, the resolution to the many problems are not always agreeable, understandable, or easily ascertained. Neither are any of these problems dismissible.

Book excerpt: This is the story of Earth’s attempt to repel an alien invasion during the first Troglin war. The setting is in the not-too-distant future, and it is told through the eyes of the men at the tactical end of the war, up close and personal. Our heroes, Brad and Troy, are two fighter pilots that are pulled into an onslaught of adventures ranging from barroom brawls and car chases to romance and wild dogfights miles above the earth. Along the way there are heartaches, heartbreaks, laughs, defeats, and victories. In short they get shot at, shot up, and shot down. The Troglins are merciless slave-trading invaders. They are harsh humanoids and are shown through the eyes of one of their flotilla leaders, Agrat Acmea. Escorting swarms of ‘suppressor’ and ‘annihilator’ saturation craft, he surprisingly finds himself in difficulties as the feisty earthlings prove to be tougher than expected. In typical Troglin fashion, someone has to take the blame for the greater than expected losses and Agrat finds himself in political hot water. No sweat is a unique book that brings the rare combination of action packed futuristic adventure, blended with romance, passion, and a surprising ending.

Book The Encyclopedia of the Mexican American War 3 volumes

Download or read book The Encyclopedia of the Mexican American War 3 volumes written by Spencer C. Tucker and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2012-10-09 with total page 3088 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This user-friendly encyclopedia comprises a wide array of accessible yet detailed entries that address the military, social, political, cultural, and economic aspects of the Mexican-American War. The Encyclopedia of the Mexican-American War: A Political, Social, and Military History provides an in-depth examination of not only the military conflict itself, but also the impact of the war on both nations; and how this conflict was the first waged by Americans on foreign soil and served to establish critical U.S. military, political, and foreign policy precedents. The entries analyze the Mexican-American War from both the American and Mexican perspectives, in equal measure. In addition to discussing the various campaigns, battles, weapons systems, and other aspects of military history, the three-volume work also contextualizes the conflict within its social, cultural, political, and economic milieu, and places the Mexican-American War into its proper historical and historiographical contexts by covering the eras both before and after the war. This information is particularly critical for students of American history because the conflict fomented sectional conflict in the United States, which resulted in the U.S. Civil War.
