Book Rudolf Steiner and the Masters of Esoteric Christianity

Download or read book Rudolf Steiner and the Masters of Esoteric Christianity written by Sergei O. Prokofieff and published by . This book was released on 2019-02 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuing from his first book Rudolf Steiner and the Founding of the New Mysteries, Sergei Prokofieff researches the working of seven Masters of esoteric Christianity: Manes, Master Jesus, Scythianos, Gautama Buddha, The Maitreya Bodhisattva, Novalis and Christian Rosenkreutz. In this profound study he shows how the Masters have guided humanity over millennia, their working with Rudolf Steiner and the founding of anthroposophy, with particular reference to the Christ Being and the events at the Turning Point of Time. Also considered are particular aspects of Rudolf Steiner's own development and Initiation, his founding of the new mysteries during the Christmas Conference of 1923-24, and Rudolf Steiner's own position within the circle of Masters. "What has for nearly two millennia belonged only to a narrow circle of Christian initiates can, thanks to Anthroposophy, from our time onward become accessible to every person of goodwill who wants to understand through it the 'intentions of the living Christ, ' in order, out of freedom, to further their fulfillment on the Earth. As a result, it has for the first time become possible for human beings to unite their spiritual aims with the spiritual aims of the leading Masters of esoteric Christianity and, on this path, to enter the circle of the true 'friends of God.'" Following the death of the translator and other obstacles, this book was never published within Sergei Prokofieff's lifetime, and the publishing of it has only now become possible following the completion of its translation from the original Russian.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is only of recent times that the truths of occultism have been the subject of public lectures. Formerly, these truths were only revealed in secret societies, to those who had passed through certain degrees of initiation and had sworn to obey the laws of the Order through the whole of their life. Today, man is entering upon a very critical period. Occult truths are beginning to be disclosed to the public. In a matter of twenty years or so, a certain number of them will already be common knowledge. Why is this? The reason is that humanity is entering upon a new phase which it is the object of this lecture to explain.

Book Rudolf Steiner Fragment of a Spiritual Biography

Download or read book Rudolf Steiner Fragment of a Spiritual Biography written by Sergei O. Prokofieff and published by Temple Lodge Publishing. This book was released on 2020-11-16 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Underlying Sergei O. Prokofieff’s life’s work was a fundamental research-theme to which he returned to repeatedly: the individuality of Rudolf Steiner as manifested through his past incarnations on Earth. Beginning in 1982, inspired by a visit to an exhibition on The Epic of Gilgamesh, Prokofieff planned a full-scale spiritual biography with the intention of finding an answer to the question: Who is Rudolf Steiner? In a sequence of five past incarnations – as indicated by Steiner himself – and culminating in the life of Rudolf Steiner, Prokofieff searched for the inner thread between the six stages of this great, all-encompassing life. His intention was to find not only the outer connections in this sequence but also the deeper, more esoteric stream that offers the key to the unique significance of this individuality. In 1984, Prokofieff began to write the first chapter about Rudolf Steiner’s incarnation as Enkidu in Sumer. Sadly, many obstacles in his path were to prevent him finalising the project. However, the author returned to the book in his final months, preparing a Preface that outlines its conception together with a summary chapter on Rudolf Steiner’s evolutionary journey. This precious ‘fragment’ of a biography features valuable additional material, including: a full introduction to the relationship of the anthroposophical movement to other occult streams of esoteric Christianity and their Masters; a detailed spiritual-scientific interpretation of the Epic of Gilgamesh that establishes Rudolf Steiner’s connection with the being of Jesus of Nazareth, and an exploration of Steiner’s relationship to the Nathan soul, the Luke Jesus child. Serious students of anthroposophy will welcome these final writings from the pen of one of Rudolf Steiner’s most faithful and insightful disciples.

Book Christian Rosenkreutz

Download or read book Christian Rosenkreutz written by Rudolf Steiner and published by Rudolf Steiner Press. This book was released on 2023-10-20 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wisdom contained in this book is not derived via the usual methods of scholarly and historical research, and neither is it based on theory or speculation. Rudolf Steiner acquired his original contribution to human knowledge from metaphysical dimensions of reality which are hidden to most people – but visible to anybody who is prepared to develop spiritual means of perception. With his philosophical and scientific training, Steiner brought a new systematic discipline to the field of spiritual research, allowing for fully conscious methods and comprehensive results. A natural seer, he cultivated his spiritual vision to a high degree, enabling him to speak with authority on previously veiled mysteries. Samples of his work are to be found in this book of edited texts, which brings together excerpts from his many talks and writings on the subject of Christian Rozenkreutz. This volume also features an editorial introduction, commentary and notes by Dr Andrew Welburn. Chapters: The Mystery of Christian Rosenkreutz; The Working of Christian Rosenkreutz Today and in the Past; Christian Rosenkreutz as the Guardian of Modern Knowledge; From Ancient to Modern in Rosicrucian Teachings; Christian Rosenkreutz at the ‘Chymical Wedding’; The Cosmic Mission of Christian Rosenkreutz; The Question of ‘Rosicrucian’ Literature.

Book Christianity as Mystical Fact

Download or read book Christianity as Mystical Fact written by Rudolf Steiner and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 1997 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written 1902 (CW 8) "Because of his sense of the interconnectedness of the spiritual world with nature, art, medicine, and all the rest of life, Rudolf Steiner was a profound polymath. In his seminal study Christianity as Mystical Fact he turned his esoteric genius to interpreting the Christ event as the turning point in the world's spiritual history--an incarnation whose significance he saw transcending all religions." --Bishop Frederick H. Borsch, professor of New Testament and chair of Anglican Studies, Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia "As simultaneously mysticism and fact, Christianity is a breakthrough in the historical development of humanity for which the mysteries, with the results that they brought about, form a prior evolutionary stage." --Rudolf Steiner During the fall and winter of 1901-1902, Steiner gave a series of lectures called "Christianity As Mystical Fact" to members of the Theosophical Society. The lectures were rewritten and issued as a book later that year. They mark a watershed in the development of Western esotericism. Steiner wrote of the idea behind his book: "The title Christianity As Mystical Fact was one I gave to this work eight years ago, when I gathered together the content of lectures given in 1902. It was meant to indicate the special approach adopted in the book. Its theme is not just the mystical side of Christianity in a historical presentation. It was meant to show, from the standpoint of a mystical awareness, how Christianity came into being. Behind this was the idea that spiritual happenings were factors in the emergence of Christianity, which could only be observed from such a point of view. It is for the book itself to demonstrate that, by "mystical," I do not in any way imply a vague intuition rather than strict scientific argument. In many circles, mysticism is understood as just that, and therefore it is distinguished from the concerns of all 'genuine' science. "In this book, however, I use the term to mean a 'presentation of spiritual reality'--a reality accessible only to a knowledge drawn from the sources of spiritual life itself. Anyone who denies the possibility of such knowledge in principle will find its contents hard to comprehend; any reader who accepts the idea that mysticism may coexist with the clarity of the natural sciences, may acknowledge that the mystical aspect of Christianity must be described mystically." This is a fundamental book, in Steiner's own development, in that of Western esotericism, and for our understanding of the Christ event. Readers will find the evolutionary development from the ancient Mysteries through the great Greek philosophers to the events portrayed in the Gospels. Included are an informative introduction and annotated notes by Andrew Welburn and an afterword by Michael Debus, a priest of the Christian Community, who summarizes the book and places it in context. Contents: Introduction by Christopher Bamford Translator's Preface by Andrew Welburn The Mysteries and Mysteriosophy The Mysteries and Pre-Socratic Philosophy Platonic Mysteries Myth and Mysteriosophy The Egyptian and Other Eastern Mysteries The Evidence of the Gospels The "Miracle" of Lazarus The Apocalypse of John Jesus in His Historical Setting The Essence of Christianity Christian and Pagan Wisdom Augustine and the Church Original Prefaces and Additional Materials Afterword by Michael Debus Translator's Notes This Collected Works edition contains a new introduction, a chronology of Rudolf Steiner's life, and an index. Download or read book The Lord s Prayer written by Rudolf Steiner and published by Rudolf Steiner Press. This book was released on 2013-05-16 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lord's Prayer stands at the heart of Christianity. Over the past two millennia it has been spoken millions of times by millions of people around the world. Rudolf Steiner affirms the power of this prayer, given by Jesus Christ himself, and encourages us to begin to understand it at deeper levels. Such an understanding, he explains, is now necessary for humanity's further development. In the four lectures he gave on this subject, collected here under one cover, Rudolf Steiner penetrates the esoteric meanings of the Lord's Prayer, relating its seven petitions to the seven spiritual and physical bodies of the human being. He also discusses the difference between prayer and meditation, and shows how true prayer is selfless in nature. This volume features an introduction by Judith von Halle, whose work is valued for her experiential knowledge of the Lord's Prayer and the events of Christ's life.

Book True Knowledge of the Christ

Download or read book True Knowledge of the Christ written by Rudolf Steiner and published by Rudolf Steiner Press. This book was released on 2015-08-19 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'All existence is spirit. Just as ice is water, so matter is also spirit. Mineral, vegetable, animal or human – all are a condensed form of spirit.' – Rudolf Steiner. In the two lecture courses featured in this volume, Rudolf Steiner presents a radical new paradigm. Tackling the central dilemma of modern civilization – the polarisation of science and spirituality – he seeks to broaden natural science through a comprehensive spiritual science. Rather than harking back to old spiritual forms or religions, Steiner's approach is based on a conscious and systematic intensification of thinking and perception.Rudolf Steiner approaches this spiritual-scientific task from two perspectives. In Kassel, Germany, he deepens insight into theosophy and Rosicrucianism, showing their relationship to science and religion. Although presented as an 'introduction', Steiner was never interested in simply providing information – not even in the form of new revelations – and his insights are from fresh angles and with new illustrative examples. These lectures deepen and develop key elements found in his fundamental works Occult Science, An Outline and Theosophy. Also featured are the fascinating question-and-answer sessions from the Kassel lectures. In Basel, Switzerland, Rudolf Steiner discusses that most esoteric of the accounts of the life of Christ: the Gospel of John. Whilst the focus is on the gospel, basic tenets of spiritual science, human existence and world evolution are considered, as is the concept of karma and the true nature of Christianity. In both sets of lectures Steiner dwells on the Prologue to the Gospel of John (given in his own translation), which offers a meditative approach to gaining insight into both the gospel and Christianity as a whole.Rather than distancing us from life, each of the lectures in this volume brings us closer to reality. As Rudolf Steiner states: 'Rosicrucian theosophy... does not make us into eccentrics, outsiders, but into friends of existence, for it doesn't look down on everyday life, alienating us from our mission on earth; it brings us closer.'

Book excerpt: 18 lectures in Paris, May 25 - June 14, 1906 (CW 94) "This cycle of eighteen lectures...presented a survey of the evolution of cosmos, Earth, and humanity, to the extent attained by Dr. Steiner in the maturing process of his research. In his Autobiography, when looking back to the earlier years, he says of the stage that his knowledge had then attained: 'The whole world outside of human beings is a riddle, the real-world riddle; and humanity itself is the answer.' Through the years, we worked continuously at the solution of the riddle. These lectures of 1906 were also devoted to this theme, and three years later he was able to present the knowledge gained in a comprehensive form as his book An Outline of Esoteric Science." -- Guenther Wachsmuth (The Life and Work of Rudolf Steiner) A congress of the Federation of European Sections of the Theosophical Society was held in Paris in May 1906. Rudolf Steiner attended with a number of students and presented a series of lectures to a small circle of friends, mostly society members. Édouard Schuré was present and made succinct notes of those talks, the result of which is An Esoteric Cosmology: Evolution, Christ, and Modern Spirituality. In is foreword, Schuré describes his initial impressions of Rudolf Steiner and the force of his vision: "These priceless lectures mark a significant phase of Rudolf Steiner's thought --that of the spontaneous burst of his genius and its first crystallization." Indeed, his notes record perhaps the first general outline and summary of what would become Anthroposophy, or spiritual science. At the time of these lectures, most members viewed Theosophy as a kind of Europeanized Indian philosophy. Thus, one purpose of these lectures was to outline Steiner's Christ-centered spiritual science in contrast to the more Eastern orientation of Theosophy. He carefully connected the essence of spiritual science to the role of the Christ in human evolution, as well as to the Rosicrucian and Christian mystery traditions, the primary carriers of the esoteric Christian stream. To accomplish this, Steiner presented the roots of Christianity in the ancient mysteries and in the evolution of the whole universe itself. The miracle of these lectures, perhaps, is that Steiner was able to condense such a grand cosmology into these eighteen lectures, and that Édouard Schuré was able to capture their essence in the relatively brief notes that constitute this book. "I took no notes of the first lecture, but it made such a vivid impression upon me that, once I reached home, I felt a need to write it down without forgetting a single link in the chain of these illuminating thoughts. I had absorbed the lecture so completely that I found no difficulty at all. By a process of involuntary and instantaneous transmutation, the German words, which had ingrained themselves in my memory, changed into French. The same thing, repeated after each of the eighteen lectures, gradually grew into a dossier that I keep as a rich and rare store of treasure." -- Édouard Schuré (from his foreword) These lecture notes will prove invaluable for all those who wish to better understand Rudolf Steiner's book An Outline of Esoteric Science, as well as his Christian cosmology and perspectives on esoteric Christianity and the Christian mysteries. An Esoteric Cosmology is a translation of notes in French by Édouard Schuré, including 18 of 43 lectures in Paris, Leipzig, and Munich, published in German as Kosmogonie. Populäre Okkultismus. Das Johannes-Evangelium. Die Theosophie an Hand des Johannes-Evangelium (Rudolf Steiner Verlag, GA 94).

Book excerpt: 'Christianity as Mystical Fact, and the Mysteries of Antiquity' is a collection of lectures given by Rudolf Steiner. He is best-remembered today for founding an esoteric spiritual movement, anthroposophy, with roots in German idealist philosophy and theosophy. The main idea that Steiner tries to convey in his series of lectures is that spiritual and scientific knowledge are not opposing positions—in actuality, according to Steiner, they complement one another.

Book Rudolf Steiner and Peter Deunov

Download or read book Rudolf Steiner and Peter Deunov written by Harrie Salman and published by LogoSophia. This book was released on 2023-02-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of the twentieth century, two great spiritual teachers stepped forward into public life in Europe. They were the heralds of a new culture: the Austrian Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), founder of the Anthroposophical Movement, and the Bulgarian Peter Deunov (1864-1944), founder of the School of the White Brotherhood. They taught inner development based on the universal values of humanity. Their teachings stood in the tradition of esoteric Christianity-the Christianity of the inner path. Rudolf Steiner and Peter Deunov brought inspiration for a future global culture of love and brotherhood. This book follows in their footsteps, showing that, with their help and guidance, the time has come to transform today's one-sided intellectual and materialistic culture into a culture that combines the intellectual with the spiritual. "Harrie Salman's meticulously researched double biography of Rudolf Steiner and Peter Deunov reveals how, at the very advent of the Satya Yuga, humanity's task of cultivating Wisdom (as developed in Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy) and Love (as reflected in Peter Deunov's concept of The Chain of Divine Love) is illustrated by the lives and teachings of these two great spiritual teachers. Studying the twentieth century's supreme pioneers of these two paths, we find inspiration and guidance to harmonize Wisdom and Love in ourselves."-Robert Powell, author of Cultivating Inner Radiance and the Body of Immortality, etc. "The book tells the parallel stories of two true spiritual masters, Rudolf Steiner and Peter Deunov, whose lives coincided with a time of severe crisis in human evolution. Both re-enlivened Christian esotericism, leaving the mark of their unique individualities in their respective cultural settings. This theme, till now sequestered in a modest niche of spiritual practitioners, is finally available to a wide audience in the English-speaking world. We can only say 'Godspeed!'"-Joel M. Park, Camphill Academy "This book is highly recommended to all people interested in spirituality."-Steffen Hartmann, author of The Michael Prophecy and the Years 2012-2033, etc. "This remarkable book perfectly meets the Zeitgeist of our time, providing insight into the missions of two of the most influential initiators of esoteric Christianity in the 20th century-missions still being carried on and expanded by committed people toward the shared goal of further illuminating the conditions and the path of the ascension of our beloved planet Earth, as well as of the human soul. It bestows hope, strength, and faith in the Good. It encourages an irrepressible feeling of connectedness in the spirit of the radiant Christ Sun."-Sabrina Wendtner, Roza Mira Foundation
