He also wrote travel reports on Fiji, New Caledonia, American Samoa, Manu’a Islands and Western Samoa for the airline. “Tahiti Report” was used by H. Allen Smith (author of Two Thirds of a Coconut Tree), by the MGM film crew on location for Mutiny on the Bounty, and Jack Paar read from it on his South Seas TV special. Peterson retired in 1999 after 67 years in radio and television as a writer and producer.
