He seems to be a leader the Imo people and Nigerians as whole need at the moment. Nigeria needs leaders that have vision, charisma, strength, and indomitable will to succeed, leaders who are motivated to action and that can motivate others to embrace hard work. Many Imolites believe that Governor Okorocha, at the age of fifty, as of September 2012, has lived a fulfilled and fulfilling life. The governor’s tremendous rise from abject poverty to a high-rated philanthropist of fame highlights important parts of his story. By touching positively the lives of many young people in Nigerian society through his Rochas Foundation and choosing to be a selfless leader, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has distinguished himself as an exemplary leader who chose to be on the path that intersects those of the people, determined to make their lives brighter. Nigeria needs honest, compassionate, benevolent, detribalized men of vision and strength. One will find all these virtues and many more inhabiting Governor Okorocha. There is no doubt that the present administration in Imo will be adjudged the best in the history of the state as the governor has vowed to make Imo one of the fastest-developing states. He is fulfilling his vow by sustaining the massive infrastructural projects and people-oriented programs embarked upon by his administration. No one may doubt the governor’s words when he insisted, “Today, the bar of governance and leadership in Nigeria has been raised. Men and women who must govern our country or our states must now be men of vision, integrity, and repute. After and when I must have become your governor and left that office, before anybody would be governor again, he has to think twice, because of what I will leave on ground.”

Book excerpt: Featuring first hand accounts by international politicians and diplomats along with analyses by leading scholars, this unique collection of essays provides insights from multiple perspectives to foster better understanding of international relations during and after the Cold War. Experts from both sides of the "iron curtain" shed light on the origins, struggles, ending, and legacy of the conflict that dominated the second half of the twentieth century and that still affects current East-West relations, the securing and dismantling of weapons of mass destruction, and the instability of many regions. With a particular focus on diplomatic relations, the book looks at the origins of the conflict from Yalta to Korea, the prelude to Détente from Cuba to Vietnam, followed by the move from Détente to dialogue. It then addresses such issues as strategic weapons, the impact of the war on scientific research, intelligence, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Lastly, it examines the legacy of the Cold War across regions of the world, including Europe, Japan, India, China, and the lessons to be drawn for today's diplomatic relations and intelligence. With contributions from Howard Baker, Jr., Sir Anthony Brenton, Susan Eisenhower, Grigoryi Karasin, Alexander Likhotal, Kishan Rana, Ying Rong, and more, the volume presents a truly international treatment of a subject of global dimensions and importance. Students of politics and international relations will find it invaluable as will Foreign Service practitioners, and instructors teaching the Cold War and foreign affairs.

  • ISBN : 1910068101
  • Pages : 256 pages

Download or read book The Report Papua New Guinea 2014 written by Oxford Business Group and published by Oxford Business Group. This book was released on 2014-09-04 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Papua New Guinea is poised for change, as the country’s mineral riches are providing a major opportunity for economic development through the exploitation of natural resources. The government’s five-year strategic plan focuses on key development enablers such as free education, improvements to health services, the strengthening of law and order, rural development projects and infrastructure construction. Inward investment has increasingly been driven by the extractive sector, including oil and gas, whose share of the country’s total investment stock rose from 71% to 87% between 2004 and 2012. Statistics from the Investment Promotion Authority reveal that the largest share of new foreign direct investment in 2013, some 24.6%, targeted the construction sector, outpacing that in financial services, manufacturing and mining, which accounted for 19.8%, 18.1% and 10.9%, respectively. While minerals and hydrocarbons dominate exports, around 85% of the country’s population is employed in the agriculture sector. The start of liquefied natural gas exports in 2014 is expected to return the current account to a surplus in 2015, forecast as high as 12.1% of GDP before returning to 9.1% the following year. While the outlook for state revenues remains strong in the medium term, ensuring the sustainability of further spending increases will be key to preserving macroeconomic stability.

Now Deck can only hope a certain icy, green-eyed ER doctor will help him and his canine partner track down the deadly source. Dr. Tori Sampson has her reasons for not trusting federal agents, especially ones working for the DEA. But the rash of overdoses—including a heartbreaking case involving a teen—is alarmingly high. And the new opioid is not only extremely dangerous, it defies all the usual medical treatments. So Tori has a choice: work with the big, brawny, and annoyingly hot DEA agent...or watch more innocent people die. Tori’s the only person who can help Deck break the case, and they’ll need to trust each other, no matter how high the tension and attraction sizzling between them runs. But with every question answered, they realize there’s something more behind these typical teen overdoses. There’s a pattern here, and a pattern can only suggest one thing: there’s a killer on the loose. Each book in the K-9 Special Ops series is STANDALONE: * Tough Justice * Burning Justice
