Book Rotor bearing Dynamics Technology Design Guide

Download or read book Rotor bearing Dynamics Technology Design Guide written by C. H. T. Pan and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes an update of the Air Force computer programs concerned with the dynamics of high speed rotors. The new program, which replaces AFAPL/SFL Programs No. 100, 101, and 117, has the capability to perform a variety of rotordynamics analyses. These analyses include torsional vibration and bending vibration. The bending analyses consist of those for critical speeds, unbalance response, asynchronous response, and rotor stability. In addition, the program incorporates the following: a formulation based on whirl coordinates with an exact bending solution between rotor modelling stations, the capability to utilize a small subset of these stations in much of the calculations, a set of bearing characteristics that depend on rotor speed and vibration frequency and that include anisotropy and damping, and an economical combination of a separate rotor analysis and the characteristics of the bearings. The report includes: an introduction to use of the program as well as a detailed user's manual, an overview of the mathematical basis of the program and a complete presentation of those mathematics.

Book Rotor and Structural Dynamics of Turbomachinery

Download or read book Rotor and Structural Dynamics of Turbomachinery written by Raj Subbiah and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-01-16 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides engineers and scientists with practical fundamentals for turbomachinery design. It presents a detailed analysis of existing procedures for the analysis of rotor and structure dynamics, while keeping mathematical equations to a minimum. Specific terminologies are used for rotors and structures, respectively, allowing the readers to clearly distinguish between the two. Further, the book describes the essential concepts needed to understand rotor failure modes due to lateral and torsional oscillations. It guides the reader from simple single-degree-of-freedom models to the most complex multi-degree-of-freedom systems, and provides useful information concerning steel pedestal stiffness degradation and other structural issues. Fluid-film bearing types and their dynamical behavior are extensively covered and discussed in the context of various turbomachinery applications. The book also discusses shaft alignment and rotor balancing from a practical point of view, providing readers with essential information to help them solve practical problems. As the main body of the book focuses on the diagnostics and description of case studies addressing the most pressing practical issues, together with their successful solutions, it offers a valuable reference guide, helping field engineers manage day-to-day issues with turbomachinery.

Book Rotor bearing Dynamics Technology Design Guide

Download or read book Rotor bearing Dynamics Technology Design Guide written by A. B. Jones and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is an update of the original Part IV of the Rotor-bearing Dynamics Design Technology Series, AFAPL-TR-65-45 (Parts I through X). A Computer program is given for preparation of ball bearing stiffness data input for rotordynamic response programs. The complete stiffness matrix is calculated including centrifugal effects. Considerations such as elastohydrodynamic and cage effects are not included since they have little influence on the calculation of ball bearing stiffness. The resulting program is reasonably small and easy to use. Lastly, the stiffness data included in the original Part IV have been updated and are included in appendices.

Book Differential Equations and Nonlinear Mechanics

Download or read book Differential Equations and Nonlinear Mechanics written by Kuppalapalle Vajravelu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference on Differential Equations and Nonlinear Mechanics was hosted by the University of Central Florida in Orlando from March 17-19, 1999. One of the conference days was dedicated to Professor V. Lakshmikantham in th honor of his 75 birthday. 50 well established professionals (in differential equations, nonlinear analysis, numerical analysis, and nonlinear mechanics) attended the conference from 13 countries. Twelve of the attendees delivered hour long invited talks and remaining thirty-eight presented invited forty-five minute talks. In each of these talks, the focus was on the recent developments in differential equations and nonlinear mechanics and their applications. This book consists of 29 papers based on the invited lectures, and I believe that it provides a good selection of advanced topics of current interest in differential equations and nonlinear mechanics. I am indebted to the Department of Mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering, and the Office of International Studies (of the University of Central Florida) for the financial support of the conference. Also, to the Mathematics Department of the University of Central Florida for providing secretarial and administrative assistance. I would like to thank the members of the local organizing committee, Jeanne Blank, Jackie Callahan, John Cannon, Holly Carley, Brad Pyle, Pete Rautenstrauch, and June Wingler for their assistance. Thanks are also due to the conference organizing committee, F. H. Busse, J. R. Cannon, V. Girault, R. H. J. Grimshaw, P. N. Kaloni, V.

Book Rotor bearing Dynamics Design Technology

Download or read book Rotor bearing Dynamics Design Technology written by R. Cundiff and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a study conducted to determine the effects thrust bearings have on rotor-bearing stability. A computer program was written in order to study these effects and permits the inclusion of the thrust bearing characteristics into the rotor system. A manual is provided for the program, containing a listing of the program and detailed instructions for preparation of input data. A technique is also presented which permits the user a convenient method of evaluating the stability of a rotor system with and without the thrust bearing data. Extensive design data are presented for gas-lubricated, externally pressurized thrust bearings.
