Book Rotor bearing Dynamics Technology Design Guide

Download or read book Rotor bearing Dynamics Technology Design Guide written by A. B. Jones and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is an update of the original Part IV of the Rotor-bearing Dynamics Design Technology Series, AFAPL-TR-65-45 (Parts I through X). A Computer program is given for preparation of ball bearing stiffness data input for rotordynamic response programs. The complete stiffness matrix is calculated including centrifugal effects. Considerations such as elastohydrodynamic and cage effects are not included since they have little influence on the calculation of ball bearing stiffness. The resulting program is reasonably small and easy to use. Lastly, the stiffness data included in the original Part IV have been updated and are included in appendices.

Book Rotor bearing Dynamics Design Technology Part Iv Ball Bearing Design Data

Download or read book Rotor bearing Dynamics Design Technology Part Iv Ball Bearing Design Data written by P. Lewis and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Part IV of the Final Report presents design data for the stiffness characteristics of ball bearings for use in analyzing the dynamical performance of a rotor. The dynamic characteristics of fluid film bearings are given in Part III which also gives the methods for performing the analysis of the rotor-bearing system. Design data are presented for the extra-light and light group of deep-grooved and angular contact bearings undergoing either a pure radial load, pure axial load, or combined radial load with axial preload. The data are given in graphical form and cover both radial stiffness and load- carrying capacity. A nominal damping value for ball bearings, obtained from experimentation, is suggested. Some of the general guide rules for the selection of ball bearings are given. These are concerned with fatigue life, limiting speeds, design, and lubrication. Safe load levels are indicated.

Book Rotor Bearing Dynamics Design Technology Part 9 Thrust Bearing Effects on Rotor Stability

Download or read book Rotor Bearing Dynamics Design Technology Part 9 Thrust Bearing Effects on Rotor Stability written by R. A. Cundiff and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a study conducted to determine the effects thrust bearings have on rotor-bearing stability. A computer program was written in order to study these effects and permits the inclusion of the thrust bearing characteristics into the rotor system. A manual is provided for the program, containing a listing of the program and detailed instructions for preparation of input data. A technique is also presented which permits the user a convenient method of evaluating the stability of a rotor system with and without the thrust bearing data. Extensive design data are presented for gas-lubricated, externally pressurized thrust bearings.

Book Rotor bearing Dynamics Design Technology Part 1 State of the art

Download or read book Rotor bearing Dynamics Design Technology Part 1 State of the art written by N. F. Rieger and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic aspects of rotor-bearing dynamics have been collated and are here presented in systematic fashion. The rotor-bearing system and its forces are first discussed. The properties of rotor whirl, critical speed and system stability are discussed in detail. Effects arising from running a rotor through its critical speed are reviewed. Balancing of rigid and flexible rotors is considered with regard to balancing machines, computed calculation of unbalance, and acceptable levels of unbalance. Axial and torsional effects on machine systems are included. Throughout, the important literature relating to each topic is specified, discussed and set in perspective.
