Book Rotationally Resolved Photoionization with Coherent VUV Radiation

Download or read book Rotationally Resolved Photoionization with Coherent VUV Radiation written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pulsed field ionization (PFI) has been used in conjunction with coherent VUV radiation to investigate the rotational state distributions of molecular cations following single photon ionization. The rotational state distributions for several linear cations (O2, NO, OH(OD), HCl and N20 can be interpreted predominately on the basis of the near-threshold, one-electron photoionization dynamics; however, field-induced autoionization is often the dominate ionization pathway for rotational branches involving negative changes in core angular momentum. For photoionization of the H2X (X = 0, S) non-linear triatomic molecules, transitions between asymmetric top levels involving the rotational angular momentum projections, K{sub a} and K{sub c} permit resolution of the photoelectron continua according to symmetry. The observed spectra clearly demonstrate the importance of the non-spherical nature of the molecular ion potential which leads to photoelectron final states which are unexpected from atomic-like analogies.

Book excerpt: When after three decades of research Singapore could produce its own water, the little city-state was said to have lost its vulnerability. No longer would every policy have to bend at the knees for water survival. It was finally time to celebrate liberty! When did the same moment come in Bala's life? Was it when in mid-Atlantic he heard of his promotion as Controller of Posts? Or was it when he was appointed by the President as member of the Parliamentary Elections Minority Committee? Or was it at a moment of tragic loss when he realised he had nothing more to lose?Singapore, My Country tells M Bala Subramanion's story, a second generation Indian who lost his father to the Death Railway, witnessed Subhas Chandra Bose at the Padang and later emerged as not only a senior civil servant but the man behind multiple social interventions, living in a fast evolving Singapore. The histories of the man and his nation remain seamlessly intertwined, each peppered with equal doses of endeavour, ingenuity and a sheer will to survive!

This book was released on 1995-08-29 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent advances in both experimental techniques and theoretical methodologies have meant that increasingly sophisticated studies concerning the formation, structures, energetics, and reaction dynamics of state- or energy-selected molecular ions can now be performed. In order to better serve the ion chemistry and physics community, each volume of this series will be dedicated to reviewing a specific topic, emphasizing new experimental and theoretical developments in the study of ions. The Wiley Series in Ion Chemistry and Physics will help stimulate new research directions and point to future opportunities in the field of ion chemistry and physics. This fourth volume is devoted to developments associated with the high resolution study of molecular photoionization, presented from both experimental and theoretical viewpoints. This field has been revolutionized in recent years through the rapid development of zero kinetic energy (ZEKE) photoelectron spectroscopy, which is featured prominently within this volume. These advances have expanded the researcher' s ability to probe not just structural features, but also the detailed dynamics of a system, resulting in the interest and applicability of the technique being broadened to areas of chemical physics extending beyond the traditional study of photoionization per se. Each of the twelve chapters making up this volume is written by leading researchers in their respective fields.

Book Frontiers of Chemical Dynamics

Download or read book Frontiers of Chemical Dynamics written by E. Yurtsever and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the lectures presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI) on " Frontiers of Chemical Dynamics ", held in the Club AIda, Kerner, Turkey, from 5th September to 16th September 1994. The Kerner area, famous for its pristine beaches and craggy mountains provided an excellent atmosphere for an intellectually and socially active meeting. The first class facilities of Club AIda allowed the participants to concentrate on the scientific activities without any outside interferences and disturbances. The main objective of the meeting was to bring experts of chemical dynamics to discuss problems from both experimental and theoretical points of view. The organizing committee has helped a great deal to collect an impressive list of lecturers, although there were quite a number of other scientists whom we would have liked to invite. Unfortunately, the number of lecturers is limited and we had to leave out some of them. The selection of the lecturers from a very long list was a difficult process and those who are approached in our very first attempt were all known for giving very good lectures. The purpose of the ASI's are mainly educational even though they may be at a very high level and it is essential to keep in mind the pedagogical aspects of the meeting without sacrificing the scientific quality. This point was underlined several times in our communications with lecturers.
