Book Secret Symbols of the Rosicrucians

Download or read book Secret Symbols of the Rosicrucians written by Phoenix Press and published by . This book was released on 2015-09-24 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time, this remarkable work is reproduced with the original watercoloured prints from the 1785-1788 German edition alongside the English translation published by AMORC, for ease of study and reference. The three Rosicrucian manifestos are also included with the addition of the Speculum Sophicum, a valuable supplementary work. The mysterious Brothers of the Rosy Cross first appeared in Germany, 1614 with the publication of a pamphlet, Fama Fraternitatis, which quickly generated widespread curiosity throughout Europe. Claiming to be a Christian brotherhood possessing the secrets of Alchemy, they remained elusive and entirely invisible to the public. In spite of this their spiritual ideals of reformation influenced the early 17th century period profoundly enough to entitle it 'the Rosicrucian enlightenment'. Over 170 years later, Secret Symbols was published in Hamburg by the Order of the Golden and Rosy Cross, revealing both the practical and spiritual aspects of the Great Work. Partly hidden in symbol and cabalistic cipher, their teachings are presented in this book through mystical illustration and poetic depictions of Hermetic/Paracelsian philosophy. “Half a century before the term ‘Rosicrucian’ came into use the sixteenth-century Provençal astrologer and soothsayer, Nostradamus, wrote:A new sect of Philosophers shall rise,Despising death, gold, honours and riches,They shall be near the mountains of Germany,They shall have abundance of others to support and follow them.In this quatrain, written in about 1555, Nostradamus seems to have made a strikingly accurate prediction of the Rosicrucian brotherhood as described by its followers. Starting in Germany in the early part of the seventeenth century, this ‘new sect of philosophers’ shunned worldly satisfactions in favour of spiritual ones and were said to have conquered death through the elixir of life."- The Rosy Cross Unveiled, by C. McIntosh

Book Rosicrucian America

Download or read book Rosicrucian America written by Steven Sora and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An in-depth history of Rosicrucianism, its key members, and their roles in the formation and settling of America • Explores Sir Francis Bacon and Dr. John Dee’s deep influence on England’s colonization of America as well as the Rosicrucian influence on the Founding Fathers and on cities such as Philadelphia and Williamsburg • Explains how Bacon was the author of many anonymous Rosicrucian texts and how he envisioned America as the “New Atlantis” • Reveals the connections of the Order of the Rosy Cross to the Knights of the Golden Circle and to the Georgia Guidestones Dr. John Dee and his polymath protégé Sir Francis Bacon were the most influential men in the court of Queen Elizabeth I, part of an elite group with invisible control throughout Europe. And, as Steven Sora reveals, not only were they key members of the Rosicrucians, they were the driving force behind England’s colonization of the New World and the eventual establishment of the United States. From Avalon in Newfoundland to New England to Pennsylvania and Virginia, Sora shows how Bacon and Dee’s Rosicrucian impact is felt throughout North America. He details Bacon’s possible authorship of the anonymous Rosicrucian texts of the early 1600s, his connections with Sir Walter Raleigh’s School of Night, and the origins of Rosicrucianism in Bacon’s Order of the Helmet. He explains how Bacon envisioned America as the New Atlantis, a utopia where liberty and freedom of learning prevailed--a key tenet of the “Invisible College” of the Rosicrucian Order--and how Dee convinced the Queen that England had rightful claims in the New World by drawing on legends of both King Arthur and Welsh Prince Madoc voyaging West to America. Sora looks at Rosicrucian influences on the Founding Fathers and earliest settlers of America, such as Washington, Franklin, and William Penn of Pennsylvania, on the American Revolution, and on American colonies, such as the Williamsburg colony. He details how Penn invited Rosicrucians to Philadelphia and how the city’s layout follows esoteric principles, including a direct reference to Bacon’s New Atlantis. Moving into the 1800s and beyond, he reveals how a handful of Rosicrucians served as the Inner Sanctum of the Knights of the Golden Circle and how Rosicrucians are behind the Georgia Guidestones, carved granite monoliths with messages in ancient languages. Providing a thorough and expansive view of Rosicrucianism, its occult origins, and its deep imprint on America, Sora shows how this secret society still continues to exert invisible influence on the modern world.

Book The Rose Cross and the Age of Reason

Download or read book The Rose Cross and the Age of Reason written by Christopher McIntosh and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1992-04-01 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Rose Cross deals with the interaction between two movements of thought in eighteenth-century Germany: the philosophy of the Enlightenment, and the complex of ideas known as Rosicrucian. Dating from the early seventeenth century and drawing on Pietism, Freemasonry, Kabbalah and alchemy, the Rosicrucianism movement enjoyed a revival in Germany during the eighteenth century. Historians have often depicted this neo-Rosicrucianism as a Counter-Enlightenment force. Dr. McIntosh argues rather that it was part of a "third force", which allied itself sometimes with the Enlightenment, sometimes with the Counter-Enlightenment. This book is the first in-depth, comprehensive study of the German Rosicrucian revival and in particular of the order known as the Golden and Rosy Cross (Gold und Rosenkreuz). Drawing on hitherto unpublished material, Dr. McIntosh shows how the order exerted a significant influence on the cultural, political and religious life of its age.

Book Esotericism and Narrative The Occult Fiction of Charles Williams

Download or read book Esotericism and Narrative The Occult Fiction of Charles Williams written by Aren Roukema and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-05-29 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Esotericism and Narrative: The Occult Fiction of Charles Williams situates the life and fiction of the Inkling Charles Williams in the network of modern occultism, with special focus on his initiatory experiences in A.E. Waite’s Fellowship of the Rosy Cross. Aren Roukema evaluates fictional projections of magic, kabbalah, alchemy and ritual experience in Williams’s seven novels of supernatural fantasy. From this specific analysis, he develops more broadly applicable approaches to the serious expression of religious experience in fiction. Roukema shows that esoteric knowledge has frequently been blurred into fiction because of its inherent narrativity and adaptability, particularly by authors already attracted to the syncretism, multivalence and lived fantasy of the modern occult experience.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For those who are not Christians, this comes to you so that you also can take comfort in the knowledge that the forces of the enemy of our souls are under the complete control of God and can only act in ways He allows. Jesus came to set the captives free and to give up himself as a ransom for our sins""to give us hope that in knowing him all things are possible. Just as in the days of Daniel, God, who saved the three Hebrew boys from burning in a fiery furnace, sent his Son to rescue them. This same Jesus was sent again to rescue us from our sins through the cross and prevented us from spending eternity in a burning hell. At that time, the Babylonian king built a statue of himself; and he sent out a decree that everyone should bow down before it. When passing, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused because, even though they were in exile from Israel, they knew what God had told them that bowing down to false gods was a sin. Daniel 3:21""29 (NIV) says, So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. The kings command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire? They replied, "Certainly, your Majesty." He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods." "Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowed around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them. Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God." Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way."
