Book Foxterriers and Mauserdays

Download or read book Foxterriers and Mauserdays written by Mafonyoke and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-02-23 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the eighties, aid towards the cause came from an unexpected source namely commerce, its erstwhile enemy number one. Tourism and hunting had rapidly grown into such big business that agriculture soon took second place. The custody of nature had for the first time in the Lowveldts history become its prime raison detre. With the formation of new game reserves on erstwhile cattle ranches and removal of the Kruger Parks western boundaries fences, the call for back to nature had become irreversible. The sole purpose of this little introductory sketch is an attempt at conveying to readers my sympathies at the time; a portrayal of the young mans emotional reaction towards distressing human influences on the natural order. Though nave at the time, I still to this day subscribe to the honesty of that young mans beliefs and I sincerely hope that the character in my book would be regarded as true to such a type.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join an unlikely hero as he watches Moby-Dick sink the Pequod, dodges cannibals on Robinson Crusoe's island, raises a glass with Beowulf, and literally goes to Hell and back. This rollicking adventure begins with a shipwreck on an island where notable characters of literature, history, and folklore coexist — Hamlet and Oedipus, Don Quixote and Doctor Faustus, Becky Sharp and Daniel Boone. From carousing with Robin Hood to crossing swords with the Green Knight and stealing a ride on Huck Finn's raft, our traveler, A. Clarence Shandon, undertakes a whirlwind tour of the classics. And just as the truths of great stories ennoble those who take them to heart, a selfish and cynical drifter is transformed into the gallant knight known as Silverlock. "Here in your hand is the stuff of wonder," declared science-fiction author Poul Anderson, adding, "There are few such glorious romps in all the world's literature, and surely none that surpass this one." Unjustly overlooked for decades, this book lover's book has developed a devoted cult following and richly deserves a wider audience. Whether or not you recognize its scores of literary allusions, you'll savor its wealth of battles, quests, romances, songs, and laughter.

Book One Knight s Life

Download or read book One Knight s Life written by Henry Beyer and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-05-20 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Henry expected his older brother, William, to inherit the castle and to become the lord of Dol. However, when William dies at a young age, Henry must give up his religious studies and become a knight. He proves himself as trustworthy and intelligent and becomes a skilled knight during the First Crusade. After devastating losses, Henry struggles to live by his values and to continue to honor God. Henry must learn to recognize and embrace the gifts he possesses, many of which he doesn’t yet understand. One Knight’s Life appears to be a historical novel, but it’s much more. It’s about noticing subtle things—those which most of us take for granted—but don’t really understand. A Past-Life Regression With hindsight, I’ve concluded the reason I started writing One Knight’s Life: The Twelfth Templar when my wife asked me to drive her to Rangeley Lake to meet a woman named Kay Mora. This woman supposedly had “unusual powers” and had reportedly established her “bona fides” along these lines with the Florida State Police by helping them locate several missing persons. Not believing that sort of thing, I paid little attention. But since my wife was planning to go on a Saturday, I agreed to drive her. When we got there, we found a gray-haired old woman in a little cottage beside the lake. After introductions, I was about to look for a spot by the lake to read a book, when Kay Mora suddenly turned from Linda to me. “And what do you want me to do for you?” queried the seer in a very forceful tone. I was taken aback. I had no thought of doing anything with her. But her question was so direct that I fumbled for an answer. “I don’t know...What are my choices?” “Perhaps a past-life regression,” she replied. “And not having thought about it before was a good thing.” Based on that session, I changed my career, reestablished my values, and began to investigate near-death experiences, reincarnation, and coincidences. This book is a wonderfully historical novel. It is also one which challenges many aspects of today’s beliefs. I think you will like it. 1
