Book Toxicity of Different Root Canal Sealers

Download or read book Toxicity of Different Root Canal Sealers written by Hena Rahman and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers knowledge of recent root canal sealers used in dentistry in a simplified manner. Properties of sealers, their effect on culture cells depicting their cytotoxicity level in a timely fashion. sealers were tested in vitro to simulate the conditions in vivo. Biological compatibility of root canal sealers is of importance as these materials frequently come into contact with periapical tissues. The tissue response to these materials may influence the final outcome of the root canal treatment. A sealer should not hinder tissue repair, but aid or stimulate the reorganization of injured structures. Various researches and studies have been done previously to test the biocompatibility of different material classes and products of root canal sealers. The results of these studies varies considerably depending upon the methods employed and other factors affecting the efficacy of test. The study, "Comparative evaluation of cytotoxicity profile of different root canal sealers: An in vitro analysis" was conducted in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, King George's Medical University, Lucknow in collaboration with Central Drug and Research Institute, Lucknow.

  • Author : Preeti Mishra
  • Publisher : LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
  • Release : 2015-11-12
  • ISBN : 9783659803741
  • Pages : 232 pages

Download or read book Root Canal Sealers written by Preeti Mishra and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-11-12 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sealer is to fill the gaps between the core material and the walls of the root canal. A hermetic seal cannot be obtained without the use of a sealer which forms a fluid tight seal and barrier between the dentin and core material apically, laterally and coronally. All sealers are required to possess certain physical and biological properties. These properties include biocompatibility, strength, sealing ability, adequate working and setting time, flow, solubility and various other characteristics. However, no sealer has been shown to be totally satisfactory for clinical use.

  • Publisher : LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
  • Release : 2014-02
  • ISBN : 9783659127908
  • Pages : 164 pages

Download or read book Endodontic Sealers written by Nitin Jogad and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-02 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The golden rule in the practice of Endodontology is to debride and complete the obturation as efficiently and three dimensionally as possible and is considered to be an important part of root canal treatment. The purpose of sealing root canals is to prevent re-entry and colonization of bacteria and to prevent residual bacteria from reaching the periapical tissues. The sealer has a primary role in sealing the canal by obliterating the irregularities between the canal wall and the core material. The concept of apical seal has lead to development of variety of sealer that were stable, non-irritating and provided a perfect seal at the apical foramen. Endodontic sealer evolved from Zinc oxide eugeonal sealer to latest Bioceramic sealer. Such large number of sealer lead to confusion in clinician mind. This book will give a brief introduction to the clinician with the physical, biological properties & function of sealers, before selecting.

Download or read book Endodontic Sealers An Overview written by Neha Saini and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014-07-23 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The endodontic triad; consisting of biomechanical preparation, microbial control and complete obturation of the canal space; remains the basis of endodontic therapy. Complete obturation of pulp space as efficiently and three dimensionally as possible is considered to be an important part of root canal treatment. Endodontic literature reports the need to seal the root canal in a hermetic way i.e. the canal system should be sealed apically, coronally and laterally. Leonardo and Leal (1991) affirmed that to seal a root canal means to fill it in all its extension with an inert, antiseptic material, obtaining the most hermetic seal possible. Various endodontic materials have been advocated for obturation of the radicular space. Most techniques employ a core material and a sealer. All core materials require a sealer. There are no exceptions to this rule. Although there are a large number of filling materials, the combination of gutta-percha and a sealer is most widely used in clinical practice. The purpose of sealing root canals is to prevent periapical exudates from diffusing into the unfilled part of the canal, to prevent re-entry and colonization of bacteria .

Book Evaluation of Dentin Bonding Agent Used as Root Canal Sealer

Download or read book Evaluation of Dentin Bonding Agent Used as Root Canal Sealer written by Srinidhi Surya Raghavendra and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Endodontic treatment depends on various factors for its success. Chief among them is the need to obtain fluid tight seal at the apical constriction. This is achieved by proper cleaning and shaping together with good obturation of the root canal. Sealers are used along with obturating materials to get adequate seal. Recently, dentin bonding agents have been used along with sealers to achieve proper seal during obturation. This study uses a chemically cured bonding agent along with an epoxy resin sealer along with gutta percha as an obturating agent and the apical sealing efficacy is estimated. This study will point us in the direction of future research in the field of resin chemistry in endodontics.
