Book excerpt: Lindsay took to marriage like a starlet to stilettos, but her husband had a deeper love for his business. Left alone after his death, Lindsay must find out who she is when there isn't a party to plan or another person's life to be organized. Can she find her way Back to Life? Lindsay realized when she married Ron, a man seventeen years her senior, that the odds were he'd see heaven before her, but she never expected to be a widow at thirty-five. She knows there's too much of life remaining for her to just sit around in mourning, but she can't seem to kick-start the rest of her life. Then unexpected help arrives...when Ron's first wife, Jane, shows up at Lindsay's front door. The executor of their late husband's estate, Jane is everything Lindsay's not: strong, stubborn, independent...and a lot older. There are other surprises as well, including Ron Jr. (whom Jane insists is not "really" Ron's son). But against all odds, a most unlikely friendship begins to develop—as each woman discovers how to own up to her past mistakes and to reevaluate what is really important. Told in the alternating voices of Jane and Lindsay, and featuring the return of many of the unforgettable characters introduced in The Trophy Wives Club, Back to Life is a lighthearted, relatable read about where to turn when life goes in a direction you never planned.

The Collective was a group of misfit Ivy League black intellectuals who were organized in order to ponder the hidden meaning of life. The members of the Collective were racists, they did not associate with other races. The Collective financed its operation by the production of a single household item each year that were always very successful. The Collective also had a number of secret financial dealings and businesses which also helped finance its operations. But the Collective is really a straw company for a race of Aliens known as Deondrens. The Deondrens sought to use the Collective to accomplish their goals on earth after centuries of involvement with the earth. Thaddeous was the missing link for the Deondrens and the Collective. The Deondrens long term goals involved Thaddeous being unbeatable in the court room as they sought a home on earth. The Deondren Gene remains a mystery until the end.

Download or read book An Immodest Proposal for Ending and Winning the War on Terror written by Gene Lalor and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2008 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America and the whole of western civilization are involved in a war to the death with the Islamic world. Many Americans refuse to accept that truth or face the reality that we're engaged in a worldwide war. They would rather ignore it, hope it goes away, and presume it won't truly affect us. In An Immodest Proposal for Ending and Winning the War on Terror, Gene Lalor, PhD, discusses the world today and how the liberal mind-set has affected the political climate. He advocates a two-phase plan for ending and winning the War on Terror that not only includes the continuity of the United States but the continuity of the American way of life. The United States can only survive, if we understand some fundamental facts: * We're not immortal, either as individuals or a nation; * Our cherished rights and privileges as a people are strangling us as a nation; * With this Islamic foe, if we don't kill them first, they're going to kill us. Lalor's vision is not a doomsday scenario; he promises there is a solution and a future if we prevail and survive-but neither is a given.
Download or read book Culture War written by Telly Davidson and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2016-07-28 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What didn't you like about the 1990s--the peace or the prosperity? Setting aside nostalgia for the end of the 20th century, this book takes a candid look at the decade after the Cold War and before 9/11, when America's culture war began with the election of a media-savvy, Baby Boomer president (and his liberal feminist wife). Bill Clinton's postmodern administration betokened gay equality, an education-based labor force and a race and gender-diverse workplace and government, panicking conservatives and sparking the 1994 Republican Revolution. Meanwhile, with the advent of the 24-hour cable news cycle and the Internet, a media "punditocracy" arose. Parsing every event from the O.J. Simpson trial to the Monica Lewinsky scandal, commentators and talk show hosts spun news, politics and pop culture until they became one thing. Beginning with the "Red and Blue" partitioning of America that would nurture the Tea Party, and ending with the 9/11 attacks, this examination of the 1990s demonstrates how the decade shaped the world we live in today.
