Download or read book 1961 2017 Road Traffic Legislation written by Robert Pierse and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Road traffic offences are those which are connected with the ownership, driving or control of mechanically-propelled vehicles in public places, including drunken, dangerous and careless driving. Over 90% of prosecutions in the District Courts are road related. 1961-2017 Road Traffic Legislation sets out annotated road traffic legislation from 1961 to 2017 and covers all relevant case law and Statutory Instruments, which makes it an ideal book for solicitors, barristers and Gardaí. This new edition includes reference to litigation on intoxicants, dangerous driving, careless driving and drug driving along with many other areas of Road Traffic Law. This title covers both practice and procedure and each section is annotated fully and cross referenced. The layout is user-friendly and where relevant makes reference to earlier volumes. This is crucial as road traffic law is a vital part of many smaller solicitors' firms' daily work and this title provides them with annotated legislation in an area rife with difficulty as the legislation is piecemeal and often contradictory. Many Statutory Instruments and Acts are created in this area: some enacted in full, others not. This book updates the practitioner on this thorny area of law and points them to relevant case law where necessary.

Download or read book That s No Way to Run a Country written by Bob Myers and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-09 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A critical look at India today and the challenges it faces. We take a pessimistic viewpoint of India’s future—one shared by many leading thinkers wiser than ourselves. We see India’s weaknesses as being far too deep-rooted, and intertwined, to allow of easy solution. To make this point, this excerpt from the book examines three areas in modern India which exhibit serious dysfunction. We take no particular pleasure in reciting all these problems; we present them as a way to demonstrate clearly the existence of the dysfunction and its nature. We enumerate specific examples of dysfunction in each area in detail, and discuss the reasons for the dysfunction and the prospects, or lack thereof, for dealing with it.
Download or read book TERI Energy Environment Data Diary and Yearbook TEDDY 2020 21 written by TERI and published by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). This book was released on with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TERI Energy & Environment Data Diary and Yearbook (TEDDY) is an annual publication brought out by TERI since 1986. It is the only comprehensive energy and environment yearbook in India that provides updated information on the energy supply sectors (coal and lignite, petroleum and natural gas, power, and renewable energy sources), energy demand sectors (agriculture, industry, transport, household, buildings), and environment (local and global). Recent changes in the energy sector and environment are depicted with the help of graphs, figures, maps, and tables. The publication also reviews government policies associated with energy and environment. TEDDY 2020/21 gives an account of India’s commercial energy balances, extensively covering energy flows within different sectors of the economy and how they have been changing over time. These energy balances and conversion factors are a valuable reference for researchers, scholars, and organizations engaged in energy and related sectors. Contents of the book are organized into three sections—Energy Supply, Energy Demand, and Local and Global Environment. Interlinkage of SDGs with energy and environment also forms the subject matter of TEDDY 2020/21. The thirty-sixth edition continues to remain less prose intensive with inclusion of more data, represented with the help of infographics, thus making the publication an authentic and interesting read. Key Features: • Provides a review of government policies, programmes and initiatives that have implications for the petroleum and natural gas sector and the Indian economy • New chapters on Air Pollution, Solid Waste Management, Water Resource Management, and Land and Forest Resource Management • Exhaustive data from energy supply, energy demand, and local and global environment sectors Contents: Energy and environment: an overview Energy supply: Coal and lignite • Petroleum and natural gas • Power • Renewable energy Energy demand: Agriculture • Industry • Transport • Household energy • Buildings Local and global environment: Air quality and pollution • Solid waste management • Water resource management • Land and forest resource management • Climate change Audience: Researchers and Professionals from industries, government organizations, and public sector undertakings. Download or read book Transport Law in India written by Talat Fatima and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2021-10-21 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Derived from the renowned multi-volume International Encyclopaedia of Laws, this book provides a systematic approach to transport law as applied in India. The book describes the main sources of transport law, jurisdiction and courts, state immunity, and the legal role of transport intermediaries, with detailed reference to maritime law, transport by road, transport by air, transport by rail, and inland navigation. A special chapter is devoted to multimodal transport. Among the elements of transport law considered are the legal status of the vessel; its acquisition, ownership, and registration; vessel liens and mortgages; the position of master and crew; maritime salvage and assistance; marine pollution; collision; and carriage of passengers. Other topics discussed include liability and limitation of liability, charter parties, and transport under bill of lading. Case law, intergovernmental cooperation agreements, and interactions with environmental, tax, and competition law are also covered. Its succinct yet scholarly nature, as well as the practical quality of the information it provides, make this book a valuable resource for lawyers handling transport contracts or cases affecting India. It will also be welcomed by researchers and academics for its contribution to a field that continues to gain significance in the study of comparative law.

Download or read book A Lesser Species of Homicide written by Kerry King and published by UWA Publishing. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been a dearth of longitudinal attention to the prosecution of ‘road traffic deaths’ in Australia and worldwide, surprising given more than 50 million people have died or been killed to date. Globally, the ‘road toll’ is estimated at 1.35 million per year. Almost all of those deaths are attributable to some form of human error. A Lesser Species of Homicide examines the shifting nexus where human error, fault, act or omission meet the question of criminal liability. In the first study of its kind in the world, Kerry King examines how parliaments, prosecutors, police and the courts have responded to deaths occasioned by the use of motor vehicles from the mid-twentieth century to the present, including the extent to which the community and judiciary have been prepared to label driving conduct culpable. She explores how our weddedness to the residual notion of ‘accident’, to speed, drink-driving, risk, masculinity and the broader driving culture, have intersected with the tenets of intention, negligence, dangerousness and carelessness to affect judgments about drivers’ conduct. Drawing on hundreds of cases, King carefully traces the construction of offences and case law while observing key emerging themes, including approaches to multiple fatalities, outcomes in cases involving vulnerable road users, the difficulties with prosecuting intoxicated drivers and, most importantly, trends in charging standards and sentencing. For rigour, one Australian jurisdiction, Western Australia, has been chosen as the site of inquiry, yet there is little evidence to suggest that the trends explored herein are peculiar or exceptional. The status quo elsewhere in Australia and overseas appears remarkably similar. A Lesser Species of Homicide seeks to explore how and why deaths on the road have been treated as a species apart.
