GAO also conducted site visits to Alaska, Ohio, and Texas. GAO is recommending efforts to enhance small air cargo carrier safety, including data collection of carrier operations, targeted safety programs, and flight risk assessment. The study reveals that risks related to recession will become more intense in future, however preparedness and tested mitigation strategies can help to lessen or nullify their impact on freight companies.
