Download or read book Mystery and Sacrament of Love written by Marc Cardinal Ouellet and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2015 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An internationally respected Roman Catholic leader on the mystery-sacrament of marriageMarriage and the family are at the forefront of the burning questions being debated by civil society and the church today. Cultural changes in our increasingly secularized society have dire consequences in the family sphere, requiring a Christian response that is faithful to the Church's tradition, says Marc Cardinal Ouellet. In Mystery and Sacrament of Love Ouellet clearly expounds a theology of marriage and the Catholic Church's understanding of the sacrament celebrated between spouses and God. Developed with influences from Pope Francis, the theological intuitions of Vatican II, the contributions of Saint John Paul II (the "pope of the family"), and the innovative thought of Hans Urs von Balthasar, Ouellet's study lays the foundations for a faithful resurgence of well-being for families in our contemporary day and age.

Founded in 1976 as a Christian Democratic federation, the European People's Party is now a strong centre-right movement and a leading European political family. It has member parties in almost all European countries, and it is very well represented in the institutions of the European Union. This book tells the story of the European People's Party: why it was founded, how it is currently organised and what its guiding ideas, values and principles are. It gives an up-to-date account of the party's contribution to European integration, its work with its member parties and its central role in organising the centre-right in Europe. Above all, this book is for everyone who wants to know what a European-level political party looks like, how it is structured and how it acts.

Book excerpt: Seeking to bridge the distance between scholarship and praxis, to be accessible to both pastoral ministers and academic theologians, this volume is organized according to three categories: liturgical year, Christian initiation, and Eucharist. Within these categories, the contributors are especially attentive to three important aspects of liturgical history: the role that important figures in liturgical history played as liturgical pastorshow liturgical history has been used in shaping contemporary liturgical rites and prayershow liturgical history informs contemporary understandings and beliefs Ultimately, the book pays tribute to Maxwell Johnsons contributions to the life of the church by exploring ways that the study of liturgical history might help the church remain faithful to God and to the sacramental worldview that continues to define and characterize classic Christianity.
Download or read book Governments and Parties in Italy written by Giuseppe Ieraci and published by Troubador Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2008 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book challenges the traditional approaches to party system analysis and policy space. It offers a survey of the most recent changes in Italian party politics. It puts forward an original comparison of the policy positions of seven Italian coalition governments and of the relative policy positions of the Italian parliamentary parties from 1994 to 2006. That decade was crucial in recent Italian political history because since 1994 the party system in Italy has been going through a process of realignment. After almost 50 years of political immobility, Italian democracy has finally begun to work according to the principle of alternating power between government incumbents and the opposition. Specific methodology was developed for this research, with the political 'themes' articulated by Government and Parliamentary leaders treated as expressions of political preferences. Rather than positioning the parties on predetermined left-right scales, the 'spaces of competition' were derived directly by the political debates in parliament.
