  • Author : Nathan Jacobson
  • Publisher : American Mathematical Society(RI)
  • Release : 1943
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 172 pages

Download or read book The Theory of Rings written by Nathan Jacobson and published by American Mathematical Society(RI). This book was released on 1943 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The central idea consists of representing rings as rings of endomorphisms of an additive group, which can be achieved by means of the regular representation. This book describes the theory of rings in which both maximal and minimal conditions hold for ideals.

Download or read book Rings of Quotients written by B. Stenström and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of rings of quotients has its origin in the work of (j). Ore and K. Asano on the construction of the total ring of fractions, in the 1930's and 40's. But the subject did not really develop until the end of the 1950's, when a number of important papers appeared (by R. E. Johnson, Y. Utumi, A. W. Goldie, P. Gabriel, J. Lambek, and others). Since then the progress has been rapid, and the subject has by now attained a stage of maturity, where it is possible to make a systematic account of it (which is the purpose of this book). The most immediate example of a ring of quotients is the field of fractions Q of a commutative integral domain A. It may be characterized by the two properties: (i) For every qEQ there exists a non-zero SEA such that qSEA. (ii) Q is the maximal over-ring of A satisfying condition (i). The well-known construction of Q can be immediately extended to the case when A is an arbitrary commutative ring and S is a multiplicatively closed set of non-zero-divisors of A. In that case one defines the ring of fractions Q = A [S-l] as consisting of pairs (a, s) with aEA and SES, with the declaration that (a, s)=(b, t) if there exists UES such that uta = usb. The resulting ring Q satisfies (i), with the extra requirement that SES, and (ii).

Book Algebras Rings and Modules Volume 2

Download or read book Algebras Rings and Modules Volume 2 written by Michiel Hazewinkel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-04-11 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of algebras, rings, and modules is one of the fundamental domains of modern mathematics. General algebra, more specifically non-commutative algebra, is poised for major advances in the twenty-first century (together with and in interaction with combinatorics), just as topology, analysis, and probability experienced in the twentieth century. This is the second volume of Algebras, Rings and Modules: Non-commutative Algebras and Rings by M. Hazewinkel and N. Gubarenis, a continuation stressing the more important recent results on advanced topics of the structural theory of associative algebras, rings and modules.

Book Foundations of Module and Ring Theory

Download or read book Foundations of Module and Ring Theory written by Robert Wisbauer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a comprehensive introduction to module theory and the related part of ring theory, including original results as well as the most recent work. It is a useful and stimulating study for those new to the subject as well as for researchers and serves as a reference volume. Starting form a basic understanding of linear algebra, the theory is presented and accompanied by complete proofs. For a module M, the smallest Grothendieck category containing it is denoted by o[M] and module theory is developed in this category. Developing the techniques in o[M] is no more complicated than in full module categories and the higher generality yields significant advantages: for example, module theory may be developed for rings without units and also for non-associative rings. Numerous exercises are included in this volume to give further insight into the topics covered and to draw attention to related results in the literature.

Book excerpt: Ring theory has been developing through the interaction between the investigation of its own algebraic structure and its application to many areas of mathematics, computer science, and physics among others. This volume consists of a collection of survey articles by invited speakers and original articles refereed by world experts that was presented at the fifth China-Japan-Korea International Symposium. The survey articles provide some ideas of the application as well as an excellent overview of the various areas in ring theory. The original articles exhibit new ideas, tools and techniques needed for successful research investigation in ring theory and show the trend of current research. The articles cover all of the most important areas in ring theory, making this volume a useful resource book for researchers in mathematics ? both beginners and advanced experts.

Book Symmetries of Algebras Volume 1

Download or read book Symmetries of Algebras Volume 1 written by Chelsea Walton and published by 619 Wreath Publishing. This book was released on 2024-07-08 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first volume of a graduate-level textbook series in the area of Algebraic Quantum Symmetry. The focus of this book series is on how one can do abstract algebra in the setting of monoidal categories. It is intended for readers who are familiar with abstract vector spaces, groups, rings, and ideals, and the author takes care in introducing categorical concepts from scratch. This book series on Symmetries of Algebras is intended to serve as learning books to newcomers to the area of research, and a carefully curated list of additional textbooks and articles are featured at the end of each chapter for further exploration. There are also numerous exercises throughout the series, with close to 200 exercises in Volume 1 alone. If you enjoy algebra, and are curious about how it fits into a broader context, this is for you.
