Book Rigid Analytic Uniformization of Hyperelliptic Curves

Download or read book Rigid Analytic Uniformization of Hyperelliptic Curves written by Samuel Kadziela and published by ProQuest. This book was released on 2007 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We describe a method for approximating the Mumford curve model O/Gamma of a given totally split hyperelliptic curve y2 = i=12g+2x-a i . Once the generators of the Schottky group Gamma are obtained, we also explain how to use them to compute the period lattice of the Jacobian of the curve.

Book Rigid Analytic Geometry and Its Applications

Download or read book Rigid Analytic Geometry and Its Applications written by Jean Fresnel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of rigid (analytic) spaces, originally invented to describe degenerations, reductions, and moduli of algebraic curves and abelian varieties, has undergone significant growth in the last two decades; today the theory has applications to arithmetic algebraic geometry, number theory, the arithmetic of function fields, and p -adic differential equations. This work, a revised and greatly expanded new English edition of the earlier French text by the same authors, is an accessible introduction to the theory of rigid spaces and now includes a large number of exercises. Key topics: * Chapters on the applications of this theory to curves and abelian varieties: the Tate curve, stable reduction for curves, Mumford curves, N??ron models, uniformization of abelian varieties * Unified treatment of the concepts: points of a rigid space, overconvergent sheaves, Monsky--Washnitzer cohomology and rigid cohomology; detailed examination of Kedlayaa??s application of the Monsky--Washnitzer cohomology to counting points on a hyperelliptic curve over a finite field * The work of Drinfeld on "elliptic modules" and the Langlands conjectures for function fields use a background of rigid ??tale cohomology; detailed treatment of this topic * Presentation of the rigid analytic part of Raynauda??s proof of the Abhyankar conjecture for the affine line, with only the rudiments of that theory A basic knowledge of algebraic geometry is a sufficient prerequisite for this text. Advanced graduate students and researchers in algebraic geometry, number theory, representation theory, and other areas of mathematics will benefit from the booka??s breadth and clarity.

Book Tropical and Non Archimedean Geometry

Download or read book Tropical and Non Archimedean Geometry written by Omid Amini and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2014-12-26 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past decade, it has become apparent that tropical geometry and non-Archimedean geometry should be studied in tandem; each subject has a great deal to say about the other. This volume is a collection of articles dedicated to one or both of these disciplines. Some of the articles are based, at least in part, on the authors' lectures at the 2011 Bellairs Workshop in Number Theory, held from May 6-13, 2011, at the Bellairs Research Institute, Holetown, Barbados. Lecture topics covered in this volume include polyhedral structures on tropical varieties, the structure theory of non-Archimedean curves (algebraic, analytic, tropical, and formal), uniformisation theory for non-Archimedean curves and abelian varieties, and applications to Diophantine geometry. Additional articles selected for inclusion in this volume represent other facets of current research and illuminate connections between tropical geometry, non-Archimedean geometry, toric geometry, algebraic graph theory, and algorithmic aspects of systems of polynomial equations.

Download or read book Rigid Analytic Geometry and Its Applications written by Jean Fresnel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rigid (analytic) spaces were invented to describe degenerations, reductions, and moduli of algebraic curves and abelian varieties. This work, a revised and greatly expanded new English edition of an earlier French text by the same authors, presents important new developments and applications of the theory of rigid analytic spaces to abelian varieties, "points of rigid spaces," étale cohomology, Drinfeld modular curves, and Monsky-Washnitzer cohomology. The exposition is concise, self-contained, rich in examples and exercises, and will serve as an excellent graduate-level text for the classroom or for self-study.

Book Advances on Superelliptic Curves and Their Applications

Download or read book Advances on Superelliptic Curves and Their Applications written by Lubjana Beshaj and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book had its origins in the NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI) held in Ohrid, Macedonia, in 2014. The focus of this ASI was the arithmetic of superelliptic curves and their application in different scientific areas, including whether all the applications of hyperelliptic curves, such as cryptography, mathematical physics, quantum computation and diophantine geometry, can be carried over to the superelliptic curves.Additional papers have been added which provide some background for readers who were not at the conference, with the intention of making the book logically more complete and easier to read, but familiarity with the basic facts of algebraic geometry, commutative algebra and number theory are assumed. The book is divided into three sections. The first part deals with superelliptic curves with regard to complex numbers, the automorphisms group and the corresponding Hurwitz loci. The second part of the book focuses on the arithmetic of the subject, while the third addresses some of the applications of superelliptic curves.

Book Arithmetic and Geometry over Local Fields

Download or read book Arithmetic and Geometry over Local Fields written by Bruno Anglès and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-03 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume introduces some recent developments in Arithmetic Geometry over local fields. Its seven chapters are centered around two common themes: the study of Drinfeld modules and non-Archimedean analytic geometry. The notes grew out of lectures held during the research program "Arithmetic and geometry of local and global fields" which took place at the Vietnam Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) from June to August 2018. The authors, leading experts in the field, have put great effort into making the text as self-contained as possible, introducing the basic tools of the subject. The numerous concrete examples and suggested research problems will enable graduate students and young researchers to quickly reach the frontiers of this fascinating branch of mathematics.

Book A Course in Complex Analysis and Riemann Surfaces

Download or read book A Course in Complex Analysis and Riemann Surfaces written by Wilhelm Schlag and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2014-08-06 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex analysis is a cornerstone of mathematics, making it an essential element of any area of study in graduate mathematics. Schlag's treatment of the subject emphasizes the intuitive geometric underpinnings of elementary complex analysis that naturally lead to the theory of Riemann surfaces. The book begins with an exposition of the basic theory of holomorphic functions of one complex variable. The first two chapters constitute a fairly rapid, but comprehensive course in complex analysis. The third chapter is devoted to the study of harmonic functions on the disk and the half-plane, with an emphasis on the Dirichlet problem. Starting with the fourth chapter, the theory of Riemann surfaces is developed in some detail and with complete rigor. From the beginning, the geometric aspects are emphasized and classical topics such as elliptic functions and elliptic integrals are presented as illustrations of the abstract theory. The special role of compact Riemann surfaces is explained, and their connection with algebraic equations is established. The book concludes with three chapters devoted to three major results: the Hodge decomposition theorem, the Riemann-Roch theorem, and the uniformization theorem. These chapters present the core technical apparatus of Riemann surface theory at this level. This text is intended as a detailed, yet fast-paced intermediate introduction to those parts of the theory of one complex variable that seem most useful in other areas of mathematics, including geometric group theory, dynamics, algebraic geometry, number theory, and functional analysis. More than seventy figures serve to illustrate concepts and ideas, and the many problems at the end of each chapter give the reader ample opportunity for practice and independent study.

Book Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians

Download or read book Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians written by S.D. Chatterji and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1669 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the first ICM was held in Zürich in 1897, it has become the pinnacle of mathematical gatherings. It aims at giving an overview of the current state of different branches of mathematics and its applications as well as an insight into the treatment of special problems of exceptional importance. The proceedings of the ICMs have provided a rich chronology of mathematical development in all its branches and a unique documentation of contemporary research. They form an indispensable part of every mathematical library. The Proceedings of the International Congress of Mathematicians 1994, held in Zürich from August 3rd to 11th, 1994, are published in two volumes. Volume I contains an account of the organization of the Congress, the list of ordinary members, the reports on the work of the Fields Medalists and the Nevanlinna Prize Winner, the plenary one-hour addresses, and the invited addresses presented at Section Meetings 1 - 6. Volume II contains the invited address for Section Meetings 7 - 19. A complete author index is included in both volumes. '...the content of these impressive two volumes sheds a certain light on the present state of mathematical sciences and anybody doing research in mathematics should look carefully at these Proceedings. For young people beginning research, this is even more important, so these are a must for any serious mathematics library. The graphical presentation is, as always with Birkhäuser, excellent....'
