Download or read book Righteous Transgressions written by Lihi Ben Shitrit and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-12-08 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comparative look at female political activism in today's most influential Israeli and Palestinian religious movements How do women in conservative religious movements expand spaces for political activism in ways that go beyond their movements' strict ideas about male and female roles? How and why does this activism happen in some movements but not in others? Righteous Transgressions examines these questions by comparatively studying four groups: the Jewish settlers in the West Bank, the ultra-Orthodox Shas, the Islamic Movement in Israel, and the Palestinian Hamas. Lihi Ben Shitrit demonstrates that women's prioritization of a nationalist agenda over a proselytizing one shapes their activist involvement. Ben Shitrit shows how women construct "frames of exception" that temporarily suspend, rather than challenge, some of the limiting aspects of their movements' gender ideology. Viewing women as agents in such movements, she analyzes the ways in which activists use nationalism to astutely reframe gender role transgressions from inappropriate to righteous. The author engages the literature on women's agency in Muslim and Jewish religious contexts, and sheds light on the centrality of women's activism to the promotion of the spiritual, social, cultural, and political agendas of both the Israeli and Palestinian religious right. Looking at the four most influential political movements of the Israeli and Palestinian religious right, Righteous Transgressions reveals how the bounds of gender expectations can be crossed for the political good.

Download or read book Sin Forgiveness and Righteousness written by Dr. Ashwin Drummond and published by Ladder To Heaven. This book was released on 2023-08-20 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Present book delves into the aspects of moving away from God and making a full circle of coming back to Him and enjoying eternal life. In order to understand the gravity of sin, an attempt has been made to form an idea of the eternity, Holiness and Aseity of God. This obviously refers to the self-sufficiency and the non-dependability of the Great God. The Uncreated Creator God, is life and everything that exists is created by Him and is dependent on Him. He is also the epitome of Holiness. Once we understand this great aspect of the Great Uncreated Creator God, can we understand how abhorrent sin is to the Most Holy and how sin comes between God and Human Beings. The great efforts made on the part of God to reconcile man to this abhorrent situation through the forgiveness of sin through the death of His son Jesus Christ has been explained in layman’s language. Finally, how we are made right with God with the imputed righteousness of Jesus has been touched upon for a finer understanding of the matter. Once reconciled with God we have the golden opportunity to become once again immortal and spend the rest of our life with our lord in eternity.

Download or read book Righteousness written by Jeffrey J. Niehaus and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-10-19 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second volume of this three-volume work exegetes and comments on every occurrence of the Hebrew terms for righteousness in the Old Testament. It begins with a discussion of apperception and deductive method and concludes with an afterword on righteousness and ontology. The ontological argument affirms that God’s aseity is the foundation of righteousness in the Bible, and thus of all true righteousness. Righteousness is being true to God, and God is always true to himself, including in his self-existence. Other terms in the righteous word group, such as “righteous” and “justify,” are considered, along with the important word pair, “righteousness and justice,” in semantic domain studies in the first three chapters. Semantic domain studies show that terms like “upright,” “blameless,” and “good” are qualifiers of righteousness. Whatever the flavor or nuance of the terms for righteousness may be in different OT contexts, however, study shows that the underlying sense of righteousness is conformity to God’s Being and doing, and the same is true of the righteousness of God.

Download or read book The Book of Proverbs Chapters 15 31 written by Bruce K. Waltke and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2005-03-15 with total page 627 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over twenty-five years in the making, this much-anticipated commentary promises to be the standard study of Proverbs for years to come. Written by eminent Old Testament scholar Bruce Waltke, this two-volume commentary is unquestionably the most comprehensive work on Proverbs available. Grounded in the new literary criticism that has so strengthened biblical interpretation of late, Waltke's commentary on Proverbs demonstrates the profound, ongoing relevance of this Old Testament book for Christian faith and life. A thorough introduction addresses such issues as text and versions, structure, authorship, and theology. The detailed commentary itself explains and elucidates Proverbs as "theological literature." Waltke's highly readable style -- evident even in his original translation of the Hebrew text -- makes his scholarly work accessible to teachers, pastors, Bible students, and general readers alike.
Download or read book Women in Ancient Egypt written by Mariam F. Ayad and published by American University in Cairo Press. This book was released on 2022-10-04 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cutting-edge research by twenty-four international scholars on female power, agency, health, and literacy in ancient Egypt There has been considerable scholarship in the last fifty years on the role of ancient Egyptian women in society. With their ability to work outside the home, inherit and dispense of property, initiate divorce, testify in court, and serve in local government, Egyptian women exercised more legal rights and economic independence than their counterparts throughout antiquity. Yet, their agency and autonomy are often downplayed, undermined, or outright ignored. In Women in Ancient Egypt twenty-four international scholars offer a corrective to this view by presenting the latest cutting-edge research on women and gender in ancient Egypt. Covering the entirety of Egyptian history, from earliest times to Late Antiquity, this volume commences with a thorough study of the earliest written evidence of Egyptian women, both royal and non-royal, before moving on to chapters that deal with various aspects of Egyptian queens, followed by studies on the legal status and economic roles of non-royal women and, finally, on women’s health and body adornment. Within this sweeping chronological range, each study is intensely focused on the evidence recovered from a particular site or a specific time-period. Rather than following a strictly chronological arrangement, the thematic organization of chapters enables readers to discern diachronic patterns of continuity and change within each group of women. · Clémentine Audouit, Paul Valery University, Montpellier, France · Anne Austin, University of Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri, USA · Mariam F. Download or read book Return to God written by Danson Enogiomwan Ubebe and published by Troubador Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Return to God is a rare resource for uncommon Bible knowledge. It is one book which clearly identifies the Gospel of Grace as different from the tradition under the Mosaic Covenant, and yet strings them together without mixing them up. The book covers several areas of the Holy Bible that a great number of people shy away from. It is written to give glory to God, not to man. In explaining the hidden biblical truth, the book debunks several commonly held views about tithing, fasting, seed sowing, who of the spirit, soul and body is the real man, and more. It further clarifies what Jesus Christ meant by ‘believe’ and who can be described as really born again. The book shows that man without Jesus Christ, and this world, are themselves darkness and that re-incarnation is a reality and not an eastern religion gimmick. The coverage by the book is huge and deep. In the end, a brief account of the evolution of Christianity is added. The book also shows that there is a connection between Jesus Christ and the Tree of Life.Return to God, which unearths several hidden meanings of the Holy Bible teaching, will appeal to those who are interested in religion, and are seekers of God and the truth of the gospel of grace.
