Book Righteous Blood Ruthless Blades

Download or read book Righteous Blood Ruthless Blades written by Brendan Davis and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades is a roleplaying game of dark adventure and heroic thrills inspired primarily by the wuxia stories of Gu Long. Players assume the roles of eccentric heroes who solve mysteries, avenge misdeeds, uphold justice, and demonstrate profound mastery of the martial arts. Character creation is designed to produce fleshed-out, potent individuals who can follow several paths, including those of the physician, beggar, assassin, thief, soldier, bandit, and more. These characters inhabit a unique martial world, or Jianghu, set in a romanticized ancient China. The towns, temples, and inns the characters can visit, and the sects and factions with whom they interact, will bring their own character to the game and provide a host of opportunities – and threats. The game is based on a simple ten-sided dice pool mechanic, loosely modeled on the one found in Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate, and play is designed to be gritty, suspenseful, and fast, so the focus remains on solving mysteries and roleplaying your character. When combat does arise, it is consequential and swift, and often resolved in a single role of the dice. This rulebook includes a sample martial world and a starting adventure, as well as guidelines for games masters looking to run wuxia games and create their own unique Jianghu, rife with martial experts, sects, and mysterious locations.

All high-profile victims (News Anchor, Priest, Terrorist, NYPD chief, Mayor, Lawyer, Rapper, Actor) are murdered on camera after failing in the twisted games of the masked killer. In this gripping tale, the vigilante boldly confronts the corrupt heart of society, dismantling it with relentless determination. Armed with technology and masked anonymity, he targets wealthy elites and politicians, sparking a frantic pursuit by NYPD detectives. Rich live in fear in their mansions, and the poor rejoice in the street because they were not the targets the first time. The masked killer is in pursuit of making the powerful feel helpless. The common man’s rage and frustration are embodied in the masked killer. This is the killer they wished for. Detective Rick of NYPD, a force of law, won’t have his city drowning in the anarchy. He is determined to capture the killer. Killer also sees Rick as the right adversary and challenges him to capture him. Society couple Michael O'Neill and Stuart Rattle had it all - their lavish country property, their interior design business - until Michael bludgeoned Stuart to death with a cooking pan. Akon Guode intentionally drove into a lake, leaving three of her children trapped in the car to drown. Geoff Hunt, pillar of the local community, shot dead his wife and their three children before killing himself. Renowned psychologist Dr Helen McGrath and prolific journalist Cheryl Critchley, authors of the bestselling Why Did They Do It?, join forces again to unpack the crimes and discover the personality disorders of the perpetrators. They use psychoanalysis and scientific methodology to uncover the circumstances and motives of our country's most notorious murderers, and to really understand the mind behind the crime.

Book C Wright Mills and the Criminological Imagination

Download or read book C Wright Mills and the Criminological Imagination written by Jon Frauley and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of its widespread use within criminology, the term ’criminological imagination’, as derived from C. Wright Mills’ classic The Sociological Imagination, has yet to be fully developed and clarified as an analytic concept capable of guiding theorizing or empirical enquiry. This volume, with a preface by Elliot Currie, engages with and reflects on this concept, exploring C. Wright Mills’ work for criminological enquiry. Bringing together the latest work of leading scholars in the fields of criminology and sociology from around the world, C. Wright Mills and the Criminological Imagination investigates the emergence and lineage of a criminological concept indebted to Mills’ thought, adapting and applying it to a specifically criminological context. With attention to theoretical concerns and, as well as the application of the criminological imagination in concrete empirical research, this volume sheds new light on the methodological and analytical aspects of the criminological imagination as a multifaceted concept and explores the possibilities that it offers for the emergence of an imaginative criminological practice. As such, it will appeal to scholars across the social sciences with interests in sociology and social theory, criminology, criminal justice studies, law and research methods.

Download or read book Expanding the Gaze written by Emily van der Meulen and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2016-05-09 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From sexualized selfies and hidden camera documentaries to the bouncers monitoring patrons at Australian nightclubs, the ubiquity of contemporary surveillance goes far beyond the National Security Agency’s bulk data collection or the proliferation of security cameras on every corner. Expanding the Gaze is a collection of important new empirical and theoretical works that demonstrate the significance of the gendered dynamics of surveillance. Bringing together contributors from criminology, sociology, communication studies, and women’s studies, the eleven essays in the volume suggest that we cannot properly understand the implications of the rapid expansion of surveillance practices today without paying close attention to its gendered nature. Together, they constitute a timely interdisciplinary contribution to the development of feminist surveillance studies.
